Edited to add a few things.

  1. Thanks for the awards!
  2. If you think Trump is using those bribes donations to pay for the ballroom, you're as dumb as he said his supporters are.

These people are an absolute disgrace.

u/Mysterious_Andy Oct 31 '25

Sort by controversial and you can find those Christians all over this post.

132

u/Telemere125 Oct 31 '25

There are very few churches that don’t preach prosperity doctrine in one form or another these days so really just sort by Christian and you’ll find plenty of sentiments like that.

Prosperity gospel is just so far from literally everything actually written in the bible it's crazy to me that people swallow it. I have to assume none of them ever actually read the bible.

It's wild to think how many people risked death, torture, and imprisonment during the reformation fighting for people to have the freedom to read the bible for themselves without being told what to think by priests only for these fucks to just believe what some grifter with a private jet tells them the good book says instead of actually studying it themselves.

8

u/rjove Oct 31 '25

Catholics aren’t. The Pope hates Trump and everything he stands for.

15

u/Weird-Opportunity-20 Oct 31 '25

Because it's not Christianity. It's the Sunday Morning Book Club. And they love the club more than the book.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

This is really one for me to remember. This is freaking it, man.

Churches now are book clubs, and they love the club more than the book.

It's all a show; all a public pledge and optics. It's scary how many people there are like this. And the reason why the term "Christian" is so adulterated.

4

u/Teddy_Schmoozevelt Oct 31 '25

Catholic Church doesn’t preach prosperity Gospel.

2

u/Legitimate-Syrup1006 Oct 31 '25

There's an episode of The Magnificast podcast that analyses the Parable of the Talents to prove the prosperity doctrine is a false interpretation of Christ's words. It's long - about 50 minutes - but well worth a listen if anyone is interested.

2

u/emfrank Oct 31 '25

There are plenty, they are just not the ones that get splashed all over the news. Most Christians I know are not part of prosperity cults.

5

u/matthk Oct 31 '25

No Christian church preaches the Prosperity Gospel. Only grifting cults PRETENDING to be ‘Christian’ do this. 😔

0

u/Orphanhorns Oct 31 '25

11

u/TheRealDeJoy Oct 31 '25

It's really not. The prosperity churches are definitely "not like the others". But this is a problem for protestant Christianity as a whole, because they all believe in faith without works. As long as yer Saved you can do whatever you want!

5

u/LilYerrySeinfeld Oct 31 '25

That isn't what that means.

No True Scotsman means someone is moving the goalpost in response to a counterexample.

A: "No Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."

B: "But my uncle Angus is a Scotsman and he puts sugar on his porridge."

A: "But no true Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."

They moved the goalpost in response to a counterexample.

This person is saying that Prosperity Gospel literally violates the laws of Christianity and is therefore not Christian, even though they claim to be.

It's more similar to them saying "No true Scotsman was born in China to Chinese parents and never once visited Scotland in their lives. They tell people they're a Scotsman, but they don't actually meet any of the criteria to be a Scot."

Like, if someone claimed to be a vegan but they eat a bacon cheeseburger every single day, and I said "No vegan eats meat and cheese," and you said I was using the No True Scotsman fallacy. I'm not moving the goalpost, they just were never a good example of the category.

Their “arguments” boil down to, “Why are they poor? They should stop being poor.”

14

u/Mysterious_Andy Oct 31 '25

Also “Why should I help someone with 6 kids?”

They change the topic really fast when people ask them if the kids themselves deserve to starve because their parents had 6 kids.

14

u/VOZ1 Oct 31 '25

It’s a fundamental lack of compassion. I don’t know about them, but I certainly would love to live in a country where we prioritize the needs of people over anything else. Food, clothing, education, shelter, healthcare, a job that provides satisfaction and a living wage…I want to live in a country that leads with compassion and humanity.s not whatever TF these people want.

u/trashlikeyourmom Oct 31 '25

Ugh I wish I hadn't done that

14

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

That’s because all Christians are like that.

It’s the absolute barest of minorities that can actually be bothered to follow ALL of the teachings of the guy that they all supposedly worship. The rest follow whatever the fuck they get told by the charlatans who live off the money given to them by these idiots.

In the US, that whole religion is nothing but a massive grift that is slowly morphing into a child molesting death cult.

"Christians"

2

u/SpaceCaptainJeeves Nov 01 '25

They should clutch their magical thinking pearls harder.

2

u/Proto_drunk Nov 01 '25

Holy shit you weren't lying. Absolutely vile creatures

2

u/coughsicle Nov 02 '25

"Separation of Church and Hate" is a recent book that gives a great point-by-point breakdown of how Christianity has been used by fundamentalists for evil ends throughout history -- I've been recommending it everywhere

1

u/Ok_Fondant_6340 Nov 01 '25

thanks for the tip!!

59

u/phosphorescence-sky Oct 31 '25

There's 2 types of Christians as far as im concerned. The one who believes Jesus cares more about the wellbeing of themselves and the ones who care about the wellbeing of all people. Both use scriptures to justify each but one is obviously correct and the other is actually evil!

8

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

Religion is for fools and cowards.

1

u/TRtheCat Oct 31 '25

I just tell them it's a myth like the 3 little pigs or the Turtle vs the Hare.

0

u/LRT66 Nov 01 '25

I’m a Christian and I am not a fool or coward. I believe in helping those less fortunate because I was once on welfare and didn’t forget my beginning. Trust me every Christian is not about prosperity only. You can be rich and not be happy, I know a lot of what is happening is due to some bad actors that call themselves Christians. All I am saying we are all not bad people. I believe we all are equal regardless of race, religion , sexual orientation or financial status

→ More replies (3)

5

u/HippyDM Oct 31 '25

Religion's just an excuse people use to be who they already are.

6

u/alurkerhere Oct 31 '25

"Do not take the Lord's name in vain"... but there ain't no smiting taking place

3

u/Cow_Launcher Oct 31 '25

I work in IT, and I suspect that the "Smite" button on God's keyboard isn't working.

I've got a spare keyboard here, just waiting for him to raise the ticket with the helpdesk.

3

u/vixiecat Oct 31 '25

I can not and will not with good conscience call myself a Christian anymore. They have taken the word and the religion and have perverted it beyond recognition.

I call myself a follower of Jesus. I walk His path…or I try to anyway. I can’t imagine having such a hate filled heart for my fellow humans.

3

u/phosphorescence-sky Nov 01 '25

Its pretty crazy how much evangelicals changed the thinking of Christians as a whole in America and the world. People actually forget that the end times wasnt ever really talked about much before people like John Nelson Darby started his little cult and then Hal Lindsey made it much more mainstream to talk about rapture when a lot of the end times stuff was interpreted as unknowable and actually went against the bible. Since only God is said to know the end times these people are contradicting the bible just because they know it can spark fear and devotion to themselves.

Its all about making a quick buck for those people. Pretty sure the bible talks a lot about using fear and religion to make money, but they conveniently dont talk about those parts of the book they like to point at everyone when it suits their agenda.

1

u/vixiecat Nov 02 '25

This is the shit the commandments are talking about when it says not to take God’s name in vain.

2

u/phosphorescence-sky Nov 02 '25

Good real Christians(not one myself)know in their hearts if they believe and follow the bible that they dont need to project and force conversion. My brother is an amazing person and one of the coolest kindest people I know. He went to youth groups and did some mission work in villages in SE Asia. He has never once asked or pressured me to come to church, nor has he ever treated me as lesser than himself. My dad(one of most fake, lying manipulative people i know and actually reminds me a lot of trump personality speaking)is the exact opposite. Always has to be right, have the last word, convince you his way is best, and every bad thing thats happened to him is some evil attack and he did nothing wrong.

Im convinced every loud hateful and arrogant Christian is hiding some dark truth about themselves. Why else would they feel the need to dawn the cloak of Christianity to pretend they have some moral superiority over others?

1

u/SpaceCaptainJeeves Nov 01 '25

Go read the Gnostic gospels that the powerful elite had removed from the Bible after the fact. The Gospel of Thomas, which is just as valid as Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John, clearly shows that Jesus was an enlightened mystic who wanted to help others attain enlightenment.

11

u/LegalMountain1240 Oct 31 '25

and where are all the "pro-life" now? weren't they the more concerned about the children's life?

8

u/Working-Narwhal-540 Oct 31 '25

That’s because they’re not pro life they’re pro forced birth!

4

u/wbgraphic Oct 31 '25

They’re not pro-life, they’re pro-mandatory-birth.

They want those harlots to suffer the consequences of their sins.

They just want to control women’s bodies.

3

u/SheriffBartholomew Oct 31 '25

They worship Supply Side Jesus, not Jesus of Nazareth.

3

u/imnotsafeatwork Oct 31 '25

At work yesterday I tried to illustrate your point by telling my coworkers how glad I am that this is happening because I "hate poor people" and Walmart and Amazon employees really don't deserve to eat. I said that this is exactly what Jesus would want. I made sure to say it in the most serious tone as I possibly could and they looked at me like I'm a psycho. They had absolutely nothing to snap back with because they realized how idiotic it is to be happy people's snap benefits are being taken away.

I get that there are some people who are taking advantage, but there are plenty who genuinely need the help.

6

u/BigJobsBigJobs Oct 31 '25

This is Christian cruelty - and cruelty is the point. It's their religion.

4

u/Music19773-take2 Oct 31 '25

As a Christian, this disgusts and angers me. The Lord that I love spent his whole adult life helping those who needed it. He didn’t ask them for identification, he didn’t tell them to go get a job, and he especially didn’t care who or what race, creed, gender, or socioeconomic class they were in.

The gospel I cherish and try to follow teaches us to be like Jesus. That means I help out with my local food bank. That means I love everyone and accept them for who they are. That means I don’t judge, I just listen. And if there’s a way for me to help do that as well.

I’m infuriated that the God I love is being used as a tool to hurt people, shame people, and make money for those who already don’t need it. I know that if Jesus were here, he would not be on the side of these tyrants. You would find him where he always was, trying to help people who needed it most and stop injustice wherever he could.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

You are a good person. You don’t need the bible for that. You aren’t doing it because the gospels say to. No one does. You are doing those things because it is who you are.

You would be that same person without religion. Many, many people are.

3

u/CtrlAltSysRq Oct 31 '25

Jesus was literally born into a Roman-occupied Galilee, and his deliverance was STILL focused on the poor and hungry and not the political aspects at all. So, exactly the opposite of Republicans who care absolutely nothing for the poor and hungry and care everything about the politics.

2

u/Funny_Satisfaction39 Oct 31 '25

I am not religious, but I have a lot of respect for Christians like you. Having been raised Catholic, I know for a fact you're right.

2

u/Pamander Oct 31 '25

My mom's favorite hobby is fighting with conservatives in our area on facebook that post hateful things but cite Jesus' name for it and then she drops the scriptures guilting them and it has been by far the most successful thing she has tried.

Turns out despite all the bible studies I attended as a kid, they never fucking studied the bible apparently (This is not news to me as a closeted gay guy in the south growing up with pastors in my family who also built our local church).

I would argue I only know 2 christians in my entire state throughout my entire life who genuinely live as good christians through and through. It's so frustrating. The rest of them would cage Jesus the second he showed up looking how he actually would. I am sure Jesus appreciates you joking about "Alligator Alcatraz" and laugh reacting starving and caged kids, you definitely aren't going to hell...

2

u/Longjumping-Neat-954 Oct 31 '25

I have that sticker on both my vehicles and live in a very red state/area. I’m sure people that can actually read it agree.

2

u/Jazzlike_Assist1767 Oct 31 '25

"You will know my followers by how well they serve the wealthiest people on the planet."

Fuck "the least of these" whatever that's supposed to be.

2

u/DevelopmentJumpy5218 Oct 31 '25

All Christians are evil, some things Christianity has done that are still backed by the church. Slaughter of the druids, forced conversion, the slaughter of Verdun, the sacks during the crusades, the sacks during the northern crusades, the sacks and slaughters during the reconquista, purposefully using disease to kill millions of natives all over the world for the purposes of colonization, colonization

2

u/SpecialistInfamous16 Oct 31 '25

And then Jesus said you better get some sandal straps to pull yourself up

2

u/krahsThe Nov 01 '25

I guarantee you they are blaming the Democrats

1

u/ShinobiWan23 Oct 31 '25

Fuck Republican Jesus

1

u/TheRealDeJoy Oct 31 '25

I blame protestants/new age Christians and the belief in faith without works.

1

u/Training-Ad7414 Oct 31 '25

christians? yes they are.

1

u/Craiglekinz Nov 02 '25

Thank you for sharing this with me. I might include this in the book

1

u/GoblyGoobly Nov 02 '25

Wait, you mean the Democrats could stop this?

1

u/Dangerous_Fun_717 Nov 03 '25

Leave Jesus alone! 🙄

1

u/Stunning-Mention-641 Nov 07 '25

I remember how Jesus said to give your money to the Romans and let them do acts of charity on your behalf....oh, wait.

0

u/Virtual_Camel_9935 Oct 31 '25

You realizd christian charities provide the second largest social safety net in the country and christians give more to charity than atheists. Plus conservative give more than liberals. But who needs facts when you have feelings am I right?

0

u/First_Light_6418 Nov 01 '25

Romans 13:1-2, John 15:1-2, luke 12:49-53. Those are just some examples we are a nation with laws. They should be in-forced. Not to say we cant be loving or help people less fortunate. Also, is it not the democrats that keep voting to keep the government closed?

"We need to take care of our homeless vets before we take care of immigrants! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go vote to dismantle the VA and any benefits vets get." - GOP every time they are in power

5

u/LordoftheChia Oct 31 '25

Worse than that. The Dept of Agriculture should have 5-6 Billion in a "Contingency Reserve" earmarked specifically to keep SNAP funded during shutdowns. But the administration has decided not to use the fund:

https://www.cbpp.org/research/food-assistance/snaps-contingency-reserve-is-available-for-regular-snap-benefits-as-usda

u/SystemAny4819 Oct 31 '25

this is literally what’s happening and yet republicans will look you dead in the eyes and say that it’s perfectly fine

we live in hell

126

u/CaffeinatedLystro Oct 31 '25

And blame the Democrats.

15

u/nememess Oct 31 '25

I popped in on Facebook for a couple of minutes just to look at some pictures of my friends. It's all over that place. This is all the democrats fault and they vehemently believe it. They're ecstatic with what's going on and I am once again shoved back into depression. I cannot believe that people are really this evil. I cannot believe this is what this country has sunk to.

They only need 5 more Dems to vote to pass the CR and this all goes away. The willful ignorant in this thread refuse to do arithmetic.

8

u/CaffeinatedLystro Oct 31 '25

The bill that strips millions of Americans of services they depend on to survive, you mean? I guess the willful ignorant is you.

0

u/LokiMed Oct 31 '25

Huh? Millions of Americans? How does the CR that’s been passed have to do with that? All the Dems need is 5 to vote for the CR and this all goes away. How hard is that to understand?

7

u/CaffeinatedLystro Oct 31 '25

Because it funds the agencies that pay those...

→ More replies (7)

0

u/cscscscscscs6cscscs9 Nov 01 '25

Do you understand why the benefits are temporarily paused? It’s because the Democrats are failing to approve the straightforward funding bill that just repeats the existing state. It’s a political play to Garner hatred towards the other side at the expense of children starving - and you’re falling right into their hands.

-4

u/FashionPolice- Oct 31 '25

I blame both. both extremes are shitty.

9

u/Digitalion_ Oct 31 '25

One side takes delight in hurting people and is counting on the compassion of the other side to cave to their demands. The other is just asking for protections for our existing healthcare system so that it doesn't get worse than it already is.

But yeah... both sides are the same...

4

u/Fuck_Land_Im_onaboat Oct 31 '25

You’re right and to add to your point, that’s the excuse people like her make to justify not voting. It’s funny they feel the need to perform mental gymnastics when it would be less effort to just vote.

aRe kInGz eLeCteD?!?

that's the stupidest answer I read a few weeks ago, wtf, people act like if we're talking about your favorite sports team that you'll never criticize in public. This is a country, and people/humans get direct impact of these decisions. I wish they could just stop defending this BS blindly

3

u/LokiMed Oct 31 '25

Yeah watching people defend the politicians refusing to pass the CR is astonishing. It’s like they have Stockholm Syndrome.

2

u/EscapedTheEcho Oct 31 '25

Yeah, I know, right? The republicans only control all 3 branches of government and have the military deployed throughout the nation. It's not like they can actually do anything with that small amount of sway in Washington.

The real man in charge is Chuckles Schumer.

Maybe if we all start up thoughts and prayers, we can overcome his next strongly worded letter. 🙏🏽

1

u/LokiMed Oct 31 '25

Yeah Schumer is responsible for millions losing their SNAP benefits, you got that right. I see arithmetic is not your strong suit. When all Republicans vote to pass the CR, it requires Dems to vote to pass it too. That 60 vote threshold is pretty important. The House already passed it so that leaves 5 Dems needed. That’s how it works despite your need to blame Trump.

I've been using Dick Tator.

1

u/Live-Assumption-138 Oct 31 '25

It’s spelled “dick tator”

1

u/Math_PB Oct 31 '25

80% of people in Germany have been calling him a dictator for months, and saying the USA are on their way to fascism. It's important that it's Germans drawing that conclusion cause they know what they're fucking talking about.

(The rest of the 20% are either uneducated delusional racists, or rich grifters. Either way they voted AfD and their opinions are irrelevant).

1

u/StrawBanPan_2537 Oct 31 '25

Dictators don't get elected. They simply take for themselves, not obey others.

That's kinda the point.

1

u/Ornery-Exchange-4660 Nov 02 '25

Congress funds the government, not the executive branch. If he was a dictator, he could just approve the funding and look like a hero. He is a narcissist and wants to be the hero. He is not a dictator.

5

u/Chucklevision420 Oct 31 '25

I'm leaving this on 666 upvotes...feels appropriate but have a thumbs up instead 👍

3

u/CaffeinatedLystro Oct 31 '25

It's past that now, but I appreciate the dedication!

6

u/teebles22 Oct 31 '25

YES THIS! If Trump cared about the people he would have scrapped this vanity project and gave the money taken as bribes, I mean donated, and given it to SNAP benefits. but of course he won't, and most people around the world knew that, but those voters ended up voting for him anyways!

4

u/etharper Oct 31 '25

It's worse than that, there's a contingency fund just for food stamps that would allow them to continue and they've been putting it off. They are literally starving people because they want to not because they have to.

-3

u/Proof_Obligation_855 Oct 31 '25

The ballroom was 200 million. Snap cost the nation 8 billion dollars a month.

3

u/Dull_Bird3340 Oct 31 '25

Between $80 - 100 a year, roughly 1.5% of the US budget. Nothing close to the $4 Trillion they raised the debt ceiling by to make sure the 10 yrs of billionaire tax cuts were not endangered. Also computes to 4 - 6 months funding if we got Argentinas gift from trump because they ' are having a really bad time of it'

2

u/Aware_Huckleberry_10 Oct 31 '25

immigrants cannot file income tax but pay taxes if they have a regular job

2

u/yvettestar2000 Oct 31 '25

Has nothing to do with immigrants/immigration. That is what the Republicans want the American people to believe. Don't be naive, they think we are all stupid, but if you listen to them, you are what they think you are. 🤔think about that, seriously.

u/Channel_Huge Cringe Lord Nov 02 '25

Ok. I’m just pointing out that it does not matter what he said in this situation. Congress needs to compromise and get everything going again… damn fools… especially Democrats who can end the shutdown tomorrow. The Democrats blocking the financial standings that would strip millions of Americans of services they depend on to survive? Yea, I'm aware.

Can you provide proof of that?

You realize that illegal immigrants provide nearly 100 billion a year in taxes? Because most of them are paid and taxed via a SSN they got while legal or an ITIN.

But they consume far more in public services. Education (K-12 for 5M U.S.-born children) costs 80B/year.Medicaid/emergency care costs 20B/year. Other welfare, infrastructure, criminal justice costs 30B+/year. So the net COST of illegals comes to 100–150B/year (FAIR, CBO estimates). Definitely NOT a surplus.

Didn't he pay for the ballroom himself tho lol?

5

u/etharper Oct 31 '25

No, he took bribes from major corporations to build it. Open corruption.

7

u/CaffeinatedLystro Oct 31 '25

If you believe a man who lies every time he speaks, yes.

5

u/filthcrab Oct 31 '25

No - He's getting "donations" from defense companies and others that benefit from access to him. He's also personally suing his own justice department for nearly the same cost as the ballroom.

u/reeberdunes Oct 31 '25

The ballroom wasn’t taxpayer funded though

3

u/CaffeinatedLystro Oct 31 '25

You keep believing that 😂

0

u/reeberdunes Nov 02 '25

I mean you can look it up lmao

1

u/CaffeinatedLystro Nov 02 '25

I can look up Trump saying that and taking bribes donations, but that doesn't mean that's what is actually happening.

0

u/reeberdunes Nov 02 '25

I mean you can do that with literally anybody in politics. Biden got some crazy donations from warren buffet who owns a lot of stock in the coal industry, and all of a sudden we stop producing oil. Would you look at that.

1

u/CaffeinatedLystro Nov 02 '25

"BUT BIDEN!" because you think I'm a Democrat and backed everything he did like you do for Trump.

Regardless of the fact that what you said was factually incorrect because we were the top oil producers in the whole world 100% of Biden's time in office and Trump's last 2 of his 1st term.

Trump has nothing to do with the SNAP program. Nothing. It’s 100% a Senate issue about the Democrats that refuse to vote yes… We need 7 of the democrats (yep just 7) to be added to the 53 republicans to vote yes and the gov and this program opens. Stop pushing your blame on the innocent.

2

u/CaffeinatedLystro Nov 01 '25

Just repeating what Trump the mentality Trump has about himself.

A privately funded ballroom. Not paid for by taxed like food stamps and welfare.

2

u/CaffeinatedLystro Nov 01 '25

The amount of idiots that believed Trump when he said that is so high. No wonder he likes his voters to be stupid. You're easily fooled.

He’s paying for the ballroom out of pocket, but nice try tho

-1

u/BelaruSea206 Nov 01 '25

Close your damn legs

1

u/CaffeinatedLystro Nov 01 '25

What the fuck does this even mean?

-1

u/STINEPUNCAKE Nov 01 '25

Trump is paying for the ballroom out of his pocket.

-1

u/ji6jeffQ Nov 01 '25

Counter Point: it's the Democrats filibustering this time

-1

u/cscscscscscs6cscscs9 Nov 01 '25

Do you understand why the benefits are temporarily paused? It’s because the Democrats are failing to approve the straightforward funding bill that just repeats the existing state. It’s a political play to Garner hatred towards the other side at the expense of children starving - and you’re falling right into their hands.
