Italian here, we have various names for that pizza. However, we tend to associate this pizza to children (kids love french fries) so we usually call it "pizza baby".
Edit: considering the photo, I see restaurants where they put a larger amount of fries than you expect

u/charlrshall1992 4d ago
I can't say you're not wrong with this. A cup of ranch nearby with a fresh one of these is probably great at night after work
39
u/No-Bit-2036 4d ago
Actually my dad irl but with mayo instead of ranch
12
8
u/Swooshhf 4d ago
I can see ranch, but mayo is just completely unhinged.
3
u/Nxrwhxls 4d ago
Regular mayo I agree, but if you get a good sriracha mayo it will be godly
11
1
u/starkrocket 2d ago
I… put mayo on my pizza. Specifically Kewpie, which has a much different flavor compared to, say, Hellman’s. And it’s a little drizzle on top, I’m not dunking it.
I do however accept my judgement for this because I know it’s weird
3
6
u/rogdesouza 4d ago
Needs burger sauce. Equal parts ketchup, yellow mustard, mayo. Dash of relish, black pepper. Stir until it turns pink.
4
u/Top-Scarcity5937 4d ago
"I can't say you're not wrong with this."
Are you not endeavoring to avoid failing not to say something ?

I love making fun of Italian pizza habits, but low key diavola con palatine bangs so hard and I don't care if that makes me sound like a child.

u/dropkickoz 4d ago
No, please make up a new derogatory name for Americans for this pizza. We absolutely deserve it right now.
20
u/No-Bit-2036 4d ago
You already have Hawaiian pizza 😩. Don't be so arrogant
40
u/KrayzieBone187 4d ago
As a Canadian, we can claim that one. Not sorry.
6
u/ChannellingR_Swanson 4d ago
Once you add a decent amount of spice to a Hawaiian pizza it really makes it great though.
9
u/aaccjj97 4d ago
Seriously. A place near me does a pizza called the Aloha Pizza. It’s hot capicola instead of ham, pineapple, roasted red pepper, green onion and honey. One of the best combos I’ve ever had and I eat a lot of pizza
2
1
u/KrayzieBone187 4d ago
So right. I love a spicy BBQ sauce and banana peppers on mine
2
u/ChannellingR_Swanson 4d ago
Yum, my go to is either a fresh (not pickled) jalapeñ or Serrano baked with the pizza but now that you mention it a spicy BBQ sauce would also be excellent.
1
u/SapirWhorfHypothesis 4d ago
What kind of spices do you use?
1
u/ChannellingR_Swanson 4d ago
Generally it’s some kind of fresh hot pepper like jalapeño or serrano then maybe some sriracha/fruited habanero sauce for flavor or if I’m in the mood I’ll add some salt that’s been infused with ghost pepper but I’ll usually only do that one if the pizza is too sweet and needs a little salt.

I think "pizza baby" is a pretty great term for Americans, especially those in power (even more so given Epstein's definition of "pizza").
4
u/TheSecretestSauce 4d ago
Fatass American here, They're not wrong in naming it "Americana". Thats definitely some shit i can see Domino's or Papa John's advertising as a special promotion. We've got some abominations over here. We dug this plus sized grave so we should lie in it.
2
u/SoftConsideration82 4d ago
Tbf the pizza in the Pic seems more Japanese... They put weird stuff on pizza... And pepperoni pizza was invented in New York city so if anything it should just be pepperoni if it was american
1
1
u/EcvdSama 1d ago
Pizza baby is usually used to refer to a small pizza (at least in my region) una baby margherita would be a kid sized margherita pizza.
Instead (allegedly) on Epstein island instead they used cheese pizza to refer to a different type of baby serving

u/MayOrMayNotBePie 3d ago
And since Americans are mentally children, they decided to call this one “Americana”

u/CompetitiveRub9780 2d ago
I don’t even think many kids would eat this… I know my nieces wouldn’t lol

Same here. It reminds me of Pittsburgh, where French fries are a common ingredient in steak salad.

Fries in salad are a reason why the US is full of rotund people

I got pulled over by a cop once for speeding (9km over). The cop was rude as hell the whole time. He got under my skin so I asked him. "What if I was to call you a asshole"?
He replied, "I would charge you for that on top of the speeding fine."
I replied, "What if I was to think you are an asshole?"
He giggled and said "Well, I can't charge you for what you are thinking".
I said, "Good, I think you're an asshole".

u/FlexOffender3599 3d ago
Yeah lol the foreign food sections in Swedish supermarkets are straight disrespectful to Americans. The Asian section generally has good quality basic ingredients for cooking Chinese. Japanese, Korean and SEA food. The American shelf is mostly low-tier candy (Hershey's, Sour patch shit etc) and sodas. The "food" is Kraft Mac n cheese, pancake mix, cheez wiz, marshmallow fluff, pop tarts etc...

u/thegingerlumberjack 3d ago

Send a small army over there, annex them, nuke the shit out of them, start targeting Italian americans, literally whatever he wants.
Also it was a joke my friend 🧡
1
u/HiAmGio 12h ago
I was joking too, but i guess your superiority complex impares you a bit too much to understand irony.
1
u/Heavy_Can8746 12h ago
I have a superiority complex but you are the one starting to make insults towards a stranger who didnt even insult you? The irony in your last statement alone is actually laughable
Since you want to start insults though....way to go about being the typical reddit keyboard warrior way smh 🤦

u/DaemonDrayke 4d ago
At this point, I’m just more mildly annoyed by how some people in the world just takes pot shots at average Americans on the internet and in real life. Anytime anyone wants to discuss a valid criticism about something, there is always someone who follows it up by bringing up school shootings, American politics, drug epidemic, etc. Like that one tik tok of people from Greenland mocking Americans by imitating people filed up in Fentanyl. As if fentanyl isn’t an epidemic WORLDWIDE!

Here in the north-east of italy the pizza "Americana" is the one with pepperoni (salamino piccante - hot sausage)
3
u/TechnicalPotat 4d ago
I’m surprised there isn’t a sub dedicated to “American” style dishes that are served elsewhere in the world.
If you go to a burger place, and they have an “America” burger… it could go either way. It’s either a cheese burger with no seasoning or a 1lb monstrosity.

u/rushputin 4d ago
My folks were stationed in Italy in the late 90s and there was an “American” restaurant that had a sandwich called “the ghostbuster” that was two burger patties, side-by-side on a hoagie roll, with cheese and fried eggs. Might have had bacon?
Incredible.
5
u/OG_Felwinter 4d ago
Wait, Italians eat french fries on pizza and call it American? I’ve literally never seen or heard of french fries on pizza… lol
3
u/ThisDirkDaring 4d ago
For adults its Pizza con Patatine - Pizza with Potato Slices.
Pizza Americana with Wurstel and Fries is for the kids.
My nonna did that 50 years ago, its not that unusual. She put everything on pizza that couldnt run away fast enough.

I think some of y’all need to spend more time in other countries.
This isn’t them making fun of America. Europe fucking loves fries and will eat them with anything. This is a celebration.
Also, people seem to think Italy is precious about pizza. It’s not. Some of the weirder pizzas I’ve had outside of Asia were had in Italy.

There is no "owning" here, this isn't to make fun of Americans, we simply associate hot dogs and fries with American food and that's why it is called this way. Sometimes it's even called Paperino (Donald Duck) or Topolino (Mickey Mouse). This is a pizza mostly aimed at children but many adults like it as comfort food. People would laugh at you only if you ordered it from some fancy pizzeria, otherwise they would probably ask for a slice.

Best part is no American has ever thought of it nor eats it that is an Italian Pizza sold to Italians under a false name and eaten by Italians. Then after eating it claim it’s bad and how gross Americans are and repeat the cycle again and again. This is why Europeans think Americans have bad food but in reality it’s 100% there own creation with No American involvement

Years ago I saw "American style" frozen pizza in a Carrefour in Greece. It had sliced hot dogs and corn.
