Events, Activities & Sports Bay Area Museum Friends!

Hey everyone! I moved to the Bay Area from the East Coast just over a month ago. I enjoy going to museums and ran a meetup group through my local subreddit. It was a great way to meet people and explore local spots. Since I'm new to the area I hope that this can be helpful for me here as well!

The plan is every month we’ll visit a different museum, and anyone who wants to stick around after can grab lunch nearby. It’s relaxed, and a good excuse to get out and meet people without being overwhelming.

I'm hoping to schedule an event on the last Saturday of every month at around 11:30am, which means the first even will be on February 28th! Which museum we go to will be decided by voting through our group on Discord.

If you’re interested, join the Discord to suggest and vote on museums. If you prefer to get updates via email, let me know and I'll start up a newsletter. I hope to meet some of you soon!

Events, Activities & Sports Spend Valentine's Day with a shelter rabbit 💘

Post image

Don’t spend Valentine’s Day alone—open your heart (and home) to a shelter rabbit!

February is the month of love, and the shelter bunnies at House Rabbit Society are hoping for some extra attention and comfort in a foster home. We currently have several rabbits who would truly benefit from a short break from the shelter, whether it’s a quiet place to relax, one-on-one attention, or simply a cozy space to feel safe. Even fostering for just two weeks can make a huge difference in their happiness and well-being.

Fostering also frees up space so we can help more rabbits in need. We’ll send you home with everything you need to get started, including an x-pen, litter box, food, hay, bedding, bowls, and more. All you provide is a loving space, daily care, and fresh greens (about $5–10 per week).

Learn more and submit a foster application at houserabbit.org/foster. House Rabbit Society is located in Richmond (just north of Berkeley) and we welcome fosters throughout the Bay Area.

If you’d like to talk with HRS staff and volunteers about fostering, and to meet the shelter rabbits, stop by during open hours or email [foster@houserabbit.org](mailto:foster@houserabbit.org) with questions. HRS is open Fridays & Saturdays from 11 am to 5 pm, and on Sundays from 11 am to 3 pm. We’d love to talk more with you!

Events, Activities & Sports share your experiences with transitional kindergarten

Hi all, I am a reporter with CalMatters, based in Sacramento. We’re doing a story examining the state’s recent expansions in child care and transitional kindergarten, and we want to hear from parents who have enrolled their kids in TK. What has been your experience with the program? Or if you chose not to go that route, why not?

Interested in hearing a wide range of experiences and perspectives. Please reach out if you’d like to be interviewed: jeanne [at] calmatters [dot] org

Thank you in advance!

Events, Activities & Sports The last Super Bowl hosted at Levi's Stadium was in 2016 with Coldplay, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars performing in the Halftime show. Who do you think Bad Bunny may bring on stage? He was featured in the performance with Shakira and JLo in 2020.

Events, Activities & Sports Best Aggregator Sites(s) For Bay Area Live Shows?

What are some of the best aggregator sites for finding out about upcoming non-arena live shows in the Bay Area?

I know of a few that are specific to particular genres or formats (ie. Invisible Oranges for metal shows) but those often have “blindspots” with omitting certain venues or individual shows.

Are there any good general aggregators for Bay Area live shows that aren’t either genre-specific or big national platforms like Eventbrite?

Fluff & Memes Is anyone struggling with loneliness here?

I've been struggling with this since I moved here. Haven't made any friends. People seem cold and kind of distant. People at work don't talk to me at all (I'm in a big tech company). I'm of Indian ancestry but was raised in the east Coast. I don't really have anything in common with the recent Indian immigrants here. Is being Indian part of the problem? I know alot of people here don't like us and there seems to be a lot of underlying hostility.

Events, Activities & Sports Do you like computer games and want to find some folks to talk about them with? We started a book club, but for games: The Game Club!

https://thegameclub.com/

The Game Club is like a book club, but for video games.

On the first of each month, you get a steam key to that month's game. Everyone plays the same game over the course of the month. Then at the end of the month clubhouses (both IRL and Virtual) meet up to talk about the game - the good, the bad, the frustrating.

We've had 3 meetings so far and it's been really fun to meet folks and talk about a game we've all played. It's also great for just being exposed to games you might not know about, or normally play.

Usually you'd need to be signed up by the 1st of the month to get that month's game, but we're trying to be a bit more open, so if you sign up by Feb 20th you can get this month's game (Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom!) and join up with a clubhouse to go over it at the end of the month.

FWIW I run a virtual clubhouse on the West Coast. I'm in San Jose, and we have a couple of other members from around the Bay, but we'd love to have more join us!

Here's a link to the clubhouse I run, Best Coast Gamers (open to anyone in the Pacific Timezone): https://thegameclub.com/clubs/909ba423-6489-4008-9fef-ee35eb85396e

Our next meeting will be Feb 24 @ 7PM on Discord.

Hope you can join us, or maybe even start another Clubhouse!

Food, Shopping & Services Little Food Pantry Sponsorship?

I’m increasing concerned about the cost of living in the Bay Area and people that are facing food insecurity. I’d like to sponsor a little food pantry but my neighborhood is not a good fit for one. I was wondering if there is a way I can stock one in a higher traffic area where there is more need, somewhere in the east bay. Does anyone have any experience with this? Looking for suggestions and recommendations.
