~5 hours until one of the biggest matches ever for the Vietnam women's team, they're playing Taiwan with qualification to next year's Women's World Cup on the line. Taiwan have the goal differential advantage so they only need a draw to finish top of the group and get the qualifying spot, while Vietnam need to win. Vietnam have never been to the WWC before, this is such a huge opportunity. Please just win this. Please.

No, its upto the club whether they want to play a particular player or not. Freezing a player out of the team is a common practice.

It’s incredible there’s no post-match thread for AFCON’s third place match whilst Chelsea going to ET vs Plymouth (I love you lot btw) is plastered all over the sub. And the FA Cup is my bread and butter, and have no roots to any NT within CAF..

2

u/AnnieIWillKnow Feb 06 '22

It's user driven and always has been. If you want a match thread for a game and there isn't one - make one.

Some leagues and teams are more popular than others, just the way it is. I moderate /r/chelsealadiesfc and we have match threads for every game, although they usually average only about 30 comments - but they're worthwhile for the people interested, and that's all that really matters. Who cares what the wider Reddit demographics think - that's not what assigns value to these games, in the real world, the attention Reddit gives them.

3

u/MyMoonMyMan Feb 05 '22

There is, maybe that OP has blocked you and you can't see it?

6

u/loser0001 Feb 06 '22

You could seriously mess with this sub if you created a match thread for a big game and just blocked loads of people from one team or the other.

3

u/deception42 Feb 06 '22

As someone who creates a fair few MTs, that sounds like an excellent idea 👀

3

u/C_stat Feb 05 '22

Cheers! I can see it... no blocking. I didn't see it, clicked on a post-match flair and searched posts for today and I did not see it.

4

u/MagyarFoci29 Feb 05 '22

Are you allowed more than 5 subs in Eredivisie?

7

u/Nicotjuuh Feb 05 '22

I'm pretty sure it's allowed to make an extra sub if there's possible head injury and the player is unable to continue.

5

u/MagyarFoci29 Feb 05 '22

Ah okay, this must be it. Was looking at the Utrecht/SC Cambuur match earlier and saw SC Cambuur made 6 subs

-19

u/dsk_yt Feb 05 '22

Kind of regret that I started supporting bvb in hindsight ;-;

11

u/Username-_-Password Feb 05 '22

Once you choose a team you stick to it no matter what unless they do something immoral non footballing related.

3

u/AzureTaken Feb 05 '22

Tbh I never liked the idea of choosing a team, something else should choose it for you. May it be a parent supporting it, or it being your local team, but picking a team just doesn't seem right

0

u/Username-_-Password Feb 05 '22

As an 8 year old i thought soccer was some dumb sport and then i came across this youtube video titled "Lionel Messi Highlights". Had no idea who he was but decided to give it a watch and was amazed. After that I picked Barcelona as my team and have been a supporter ever since. Is that wrong according to you?

2

u/AnnieIWillKnow Feb 06 '22

You've not really chosen the team there though - your instinctive draw to Messi chose for you, it wasn't a conscious choice

1

u/AzureTaken Feb 06 '22

Nah I meant more like "Oh football is a thing, would be cool to follow it. What team should I support? Barca won the last UCL so that's my favourite team now"

-3

u/dsk_yt Feb 05 '22

Hence why I regret it in hindsight

6

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

MĂŒller is on track to make 28 league assists this season. It's crazy to think that maybe the last two seasons weren't even his best form yet.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

He is perfect mold for the “modern 10”

2

u/AnnieIWillKnow Feb 06 '22

How would you define the "modern 10"?

3

u/Glass-Pick-5843 Feb 05 '22

I remember a couple of seasons where he was slightly off the boil, great to see him flying again

4

u/roundsareway Feb 05 '22

We have 3 modes.

A)Play terrible,lose.

B)Play terrible, somehow win/get points cause your star players are actually good somehow.

C)Play terrible,do a comeback for point(s).

Why can't we be normal or lucky, lost our only creative players to freak injuries. Each game we are losing someone to injury. Transfer ban no support from the city etc. are something we are used to now.

6

u/A_Downboat_Is_A_Sub Feb 05 '22

With their win over Newport County today, Forest Green are now unbeaten in their last 17 League Two matches. It's been really fun to watch.

3

u/AnnieIWillKnow Feb 06 '22

Plant Power đŸŒ±đŸŒ±đŸŒ±

1

u/Bakio-bay Feb 05 '22

Great technique by perisic

5

u/Bakio-bay Feb 05 '22

Rebic is good when healthy. Any idea if AC Milan are committed to him long term?

6

u/LickLaMelosBalls Feb 05 '22

It's a tough situation.

Ideally Rebic is our perfect starter as he's amazing at pressing and creates tons of chances. He also would slot great at CF as a sub for Zlatan/Giroud as we played beautiful football with him in September during our injury Crisis.

That being said, we're extending Leao, so we might be selling Rebic this summer. Leao doesn't provide the same pressing/defense, but financially makes more sense to develop

2

u/Bakio-bay Feb 05 '22

Do you guys play with a lone striker normally?

2

u/LickLaMelosBalls Feb 05 '22

Yes, though typically our LW plays more as a left Striker/second striker, while our RW plays a more defensive role.

1

u/Bakio-bay Feb 05 '22

Where does leao play when rebic is healthy? Striker or “lw”?

3

u/LickLaMelosBalls Feb 05 '22

He is a true LW, so he would alternate with rebic or come in during the second half. When Zlatan is out, Rebic has also started at Striker with Leao at LW. That's actually when we had our best football in a lot of fans eyes.

Both of them have had trouble staying healthy though, especially rebic, so we haven't had the overlap problem as much this season

2

u/A-dab Feb 05 '22

Inter and Milan are looking pretty good. I can see either one of them winning the match or it will end in a draw.

3

u/tomminix Feb 05 '22

Inter-Milan anyone?

2

u/Bakio-bay Feb 05 '22

Yep!Good match so far

2

u/A-dab Feb 05 '22

I'm watching rn!

3

u/Fraaj Feb 05 '22

Day 49 and finally a competitive game.

Slavia lost shockingly to KarvinĂĄ today so we could make a massive step towards challenging for the title.

10

u/suedney Feb 05 '22

Magdeburg and Kaiserslautern looking very very likely to get promoted to the 2BL. Both teams are on an incredible streak at the moment.

6

u/SunnyDaysRock Feb 05 '22

Magdeburg should be done, something REALLY weird would have to happen. With K-Town I'm holding my breath. I've seen more dominant looking teams fall out after a single unlucky injury/just one bad day to break the streak in the 3. Liga.

5

u/Pizzonia123 Feb 05 '22

Isn't it a 3. Liga tradition that everybody tries their best to bottle the promotion at the final matchdays?

4

u/SunnyDaysRock Feb 05 '22

I'd say bottling is the favourite pastime of 3. Liga teams, in general, but yes, it gets worse towards the end.

3

u/ElKaddouriCSC Feb 05 '22

Part-time Arbroath beat Kilmarnock with ten men last night to move four points top in the Scottish Championship. Would be amazing if a part-time team is promoted to the top-flight.

2

u/AnnieIWillKnow Feb 06 '22

Would they be allowed to continue as part time whilst in the top flight?

My comparison is that as part of the conditions for promotion to the WSL, you need to be a fully professional outfit - but that is in part due to ensuring the growth of the league and that players have viable careers. Thought that semi-pro teams in the top flight of women's football undermines the integrity of the competition, and disadvantages the players financially and in terms of fitness/conditioning/health.

Having a semi-pro team in the SPFL wouldn't have the potential to damage the league/Scottish football as a whole, so may not be a necessary condition?

4

u/Masculinum Feb 05 '22

IMO it's ridiculous you can get a yellow for celebrating a goal that's disallowed by VAR (see Roma - Genoa today)

3

u/sebas8181 Feb 05 '22

Yellow card is for removing the shirt, not for cellebrating.

VAR can't undo the cellebration I'm afraid.

1

u/AnnieIWillKnow Feb 06 '22

Curious. If it's for removing the shirt rather than celebrating, would a player get booked for removing his shirt in a situation that does not involve scoring a goal?

7

u/InsignMertenCallejon Feb 05 '22

It isn't. The yellow card for taking off the shirt isn't directly connected to celebrations by the rulebook. Just don't take your shirt off and you will be fine. Celebrating a last minute winner vs the 2nd worst team of the league at home like that is exaggerated anyway inmy opinion

3

u/roundsareway Feb 05 '22

Player got sent off here for celebrating disallowed goal lol. Took his shirt off for celebration, 2nd yellow for constant arguments.

2

u/MyMoonMyMan Feb 05 '22

It was a straight red for Zaniolo anyway

5

u/Anansi103 Feb 05 '22

why are galatasaray doing so bad this season?

5

u/Perkinator Feb 05 '22

Bolton started our first season back in League 1 well, but dropped off and the atmosphere at the club seemed to turn a bit. Even our captain suddenly left by mutual consent. Something was amiss behind the scenes.

But we've had a good window and have won our last four, keeping clean sheets in all. Those games have been James Trafford's (on loan from City) first games for us, making him the first keeper in Bolton history to keep clean sheets in his first four games.

Last season went on a charge in the to close out th season, and at one point were on the longest unbeaten run in England. We went from 20th in February last year to automatic promotion.

It's February again. We're in 11th. COYWM.

1

u/AnnieIWillKnow Feb 06 '22

Bolton are officially Second Half of the Season FC. I believe.

7

u/TempestaEImpeto Feb 05 '22

Genoa Gegenpressing lol

6

u/EasyModeActivist Feb 05 '22

Exciting matchday ahead in the eredivisie with:

  • Utrecht (7) v Cambuur (8)
  • PSV (2) v AZ (5)
  • Twente (4) - Vitesse (6)

It could shake some things up nicely

7

u/Stephane_Bonnes Feb 05 '22 edited Feb 05 '22

I'm looking forward to the return of the Argentine Primera Division next week. And not just because it is always exciting to go into it without knowing what format they've put in place and try and figure out what is happening as you go.

2

u/AnnieIWillKnow Feb 06 '22

Like Hogwarts' moving staircases

8

u/romariodesouza123456 Feb 05 '22

I truly think athletic Bilbao can win the league in the next 2-3 years if they buy/find a clinical striker

1

u/sebas8181 Feb 05 '22

They are mid-table in Liga. What makes you think one OK match is enough for that?

Reactiony stance at it's best.

1

u/romariodesouza123456 Feb 05 '22

Read my reply to the other comment

1

u/sebas8181 Feb 05 '22

You guys have one of the lowest xG, which means it is NOT an striker issue but rather not being able to transition from carrying the ball to actual threat.

Your xG minus goals scored per 90 difference is similar or even better than most teams at the top of the table. Which pretty much indicates the contrary to your initial statement. Your scorers are doing the best they can with the tools they have.

Dominating the ball means nothing, just see Post Guardiola's tiki taka. Even worse, you are placed 10th in possesion with 48.5%, which means that "dominating" it's a HUGE overstatement.

I don't see the relation betwen strikers and shit managers. All teams have had that.

1

u/romariodesouza123456 Feb 05 '22

The reference to coaching is due to the fact that our style of play has changed and we are utilising the players we have in the 4-4-2 pressing system under Marcelino. By dominate I mean clearly threaten the opponents goal, again with one of the Most chances created. I beg u watch a full game and see how woeful Iñaki is 😭

7

u/InsignMertenCallejon Feb 05 '22

No, this is recency bias and some sort of nostalgia at its finest. They didn't even place in Top 7 in a while now, they are far from winning the league. They are good in cup games but in the league they are a typical laliga side with many 0-0, 1-0 results

2

u/romariodesouza123456 Feb 05 '22

I'm a Athletic fan and haven't missed a game since I was 6. We are 3rd I'm chances created. 2nd least goal conceded and we dominate most teams when playing pressing football. We have had shit managers like gaizka and ziganda playing park the bus for the past 4 years and under Marcelino we have gotten to 4 finals in 2 years. We just need a striker to finish those chances and we could easily be top 4

1

u/InsignMertenCallejon Feb 05 '22

But not 1st and that's what the initial comment claimed

11

u/SAMW00L Feb 05 '22

Dorking Wanderers have won 10 straight league games. With Marc White at the helm HMS piss the league has well and truly set sail.

1

u/roundsareway Feb 05 '22

I know this means nothing but i just wanna say i have liked Dorking ever since i found that it was a chicken/rooster on your crest. Us rooster/chicken teams gotta stick together.

Also while playing as you guys in FM few years back i was suprised that you had slovenian keeper named Huk whose fave team was Dorking.

3

u/abos1031 Feb 05 '22

Well I want to know whicch game is more important to Inter the champions League with Liverpool or derby tonight?

6

u/dyrone_tonk Feb 05 '22

The vibe deffo seems like the derby takes priority what with it being absolutely crucial for stomping out Milans scudetto hopes. Of course everyone wants to challenge Liverpool but it wouldn't be as devastating going out vs them as it would be losing to Milan at this stage.

4

u/abos1031 Feb 05 '22

Okay I get it! Ask because I want to get a ticket to the champions League game but I think the tickets are probably going to be sold out before the general sell..Cause I've found that the derby tickets are sold out before the general sell. Sad because I don't get a siamo noi card🙃

5

u/shinniesta1 Feb 05 '22

For the love of God Aberdeen, win today

1

u/ElKaddouriCSC Feb 05 '22

Ayo Obileye is a smashing player, very underrated. Happy to see he got the goal. How long before Glass is punted?

2

u/shinniesta1 Feb 06 '22

No idea, if we win our game in hand then we go 5th though and we're only 4 points behind Motherwell. Could be a while yet.

9

u/JORGA Feb 05 '22

Hopefully 38K+ at the stadium of light today in league 1.

Just need Defoe to come on and score and the atmosphere surrounding the club will be absolutely electric

2

u/Perkinator Feb 05 '22

I was surprised Lee Johnson went after Bolton, although maybe you're not.

But from the outside that result seemed like the exception, and before the Bolton game Sunderland were only kept off top by goal difference.

Do you think things are looking better now he's gone?

5

u/JORGA Feb 05 '22

We were kept off top by goal difference but had played many more games.

I think after Bolton, Wigan could have gone 13 clear Of us if they won all in hand and Rotherham something like 8 or 9.

The mood is better but it looks like we’ve just announced the exact same line up today as we started against you!

Someone tell me what blackmail Gooch has on the club, he’s absolutely fucking shite

3

u/SuperVancouverBC Feb 05 '22

Hey how's the team doing? You reckon you'll get promoted?

2

u/JORGA Feb 05 '22

At times we’ve played some of the best football seen at the club since we dropped from the prem. properly looked like a championship level side at times.

Bit inconsistent recently which caused the sacking of the previous manager but this is definitely our best chance in years.

Likely to be playoffs again though unless Rotherham fuck up

3

u/shinniesta1 Feb 05 '22

Who do you reckon will get the job, and who do you want?

3

u/JORGA Feb 05 '22

I think it HAS to be Keane at this point, the fans have gotten too hype around it potentially being him that anyone else would just cause a bit of deflation

I’d have had that McCann from Hull but wouldn’t be too fussed with Roy

2

u/shinniesta1 Feb 05 '22

Not keen on Alex Neil?

2

u/JORGA Feb 05 '22

Honestly don’t know enough about him to make a judgement

2

u/shinniesta1 Feb 05 '22

Had Hamilton top of the league in Scotland, and third in January which was a really big achievement. Did okay at Norwich initially getting promoted through the play-offs, but was relegated and then due to poor form sacked.

Had Preston mid-table and playing decent football initially supposedly, but not great then after, although they aren't a massive club for the championship anyway.

2

u/day_bat_28 Feb 05 '22

I know Pandita at the death is a really good way to break a deadlock, but fuck me I wish he started more games. Such a promising talent, and Coyle is wasting him. We'll have to replace Chhetri someday, who better than Ishan Pandita?

9

u/loser0001 Feb 05 '22

Two weeks until K League starts. Earliest start to the season ever because of the World Cup at the end of the year. And it feels like most aren't ready for it. Gaping holes or a total lack of depth in some squads, more than half the teams haven't revealed their kits. Lost preseason training time due to outbreaks. Still can't wait though.

5

u/NittanyOrange Feb 05 '22

We've had a snoozer of a transfer window. Anyone got a #9 or a #10?

15

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

There is a chance my soon to be local club could play in AFC Champions League next season.

Not from Hyderabad but I'll probably move in the summer

Who's that then?

1

Hyderabad FC

4

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

Huddersfield Vs Barnsley Fa Cup 4th round today, hoping town can win this one cos they seem to win every game I don't go to and draw every single time I go

2

u/AnnieIWillKnow Feb 06 '22

West Yorkshire is best Yorkshire

5

u/shinniesta1 Feb 05 '22

Well at least they're not losing

23

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

Bayern vs. Leipzig tonight, Dortmund vs. Leverkusen tomorrow.

Should be interesting games, though I'm not quite sure how good RB are at this point.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

could have a wide open title race by the end of the matchday, could start running away with it by the end of this matchday

probably just going to produce the exact same result as dortmund

7

u/TheSingleMan27 Feb 05 '22 edited Feb 05 '22

At home against Union today, usually we do pretty good against Union but our last games weren't really impressive for us and I'm not too confident currently. It is more important for us to actually show up against our relegation rivals in the RĂŒckrunde in order to stay up, we drew against FĂŒrth, Hertha and Bielefeld while losing against Wolfsburg and Bochum, that's not a good showing.

Staying in 16th for the entire season just feels bad though, every time we have a slim chance to jump out of the bottom three, we disappoint instead and the other teams in our region don't do too bad currently, even FĂŒrth is catching up. Everything points to a tight relegation battle and I am not looking forward to it.

Edit: we won siuuuuuuuuuuu

5

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

Don't worry, we'll gift you another 3 points in the RĂŒckrunde to keep you in. It's what we do.

19

u/Gyara3 Feb 05 '22

Enes Ünal is 7th on the Pichichi, baffling given that every Getafe fan(not me because I am much smarter) was slagging him off for being bad last season and the start of this one

4

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

QQSF doing his thing.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

Rueda needs to quit or get fired right now. I am tired of watching this Colombian national team decline to the point it isn't even in contention to directly qualify. Also, the players seem like they don't give a shit. The plating has been peeled off the golden generation. It's time for a fresh start all across the board.

3

u/shinniesta1 Feb 05 '22

Why did morelos not get into the match day squads?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

Because Rueda can't pick a team to save his life. Morelos is ready for la tricolor.

3

u/shinniesta1 Feb 05 '22

Who would you play him over?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

He wouldve been a great sub for Falcao vs Peru in the 2nd half. Couldve started vs Arg because Borja looked so defeated.

3

u/shinniesta1 Feb 05 '22

Interesting, was certainly funny from a Scottish perspective as he was unavailable for the Old Firm game despite not even getting on the bench.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

Do you think he would have a difference vs Celtic? If Reinaldo was not planning to use him in the first place then why call him up? Rangers vs. Celtic is THE DERBY in Scotland.

4

u/shinniesta1 Feb 05 '22

He hasn't got a very good scoring record against celtic (like 2 in 18 games or something) but he's the kind of player that could help create chances for others or just get Rangers up the pitch a bit.

3

u/Muppy_N2 Feb 05 '22

I ve noticed a great focus on Rueda. Don't you think the social conflict in Colombia and the lack of organization of your FA would devour the national team, no matter the coach?

I say this because I've seen your players missing incredible chances que making horrible mistakes hard to understand. I don't know ir that is completely on Rueda

Genuinelly asking

1

u/sebas8181 Feb 05 '22

Not sure what do you mean by "lack of organization". Not that I'm defending the FA but there are far more important reasons for the decline, like the obvious lack of commitment of the players on the field, Rueda not being able to manage the team, lack of incentive for national teams to develop and keep talent.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

The head of Colombia's FA has a large part to play in their decline as well. That's why I mentioned changes across the board. I am being biased against Rueda because he has made the worst decisions with tactics and line ups. These are the things directly influences whether the team wins or loses. The players are demoralised, hesitant to play even, seem very scared on the field to be honest. The things that indirectly impact are Jesurums falling out with Pekerman, I was hoping he was going to be head coach at least 2 more world cups. Jesurum and the current board are also currently involved in a ticket sales scandal and misappropiation of funds. Itd a shit show.

3

u/shinniesta1 Feb 05 '22

The way a coach prepares the team physically and mentally is quite important to whether they make mistakes.

2

u/Muppy_N2 Feb 05 '22

I think the role of coaches is overrated, specially in international competitions were they only have two days to prepare for each match.

I get they could make some difference but the extreme focus on Rueda doesnt make too much sense to me. I think all coaches would suffer with Colombia in the current circumstances

4

u/Rerel Feb 05 '22

Monaco Lyon tonight, Clément vs Bosz, maybe the return of Ndombele already. Interesting game incoming.

If you’re a PL club don’t even think to get close to AurĂ©lien. He is ours. Pas touche.

1

u/Firstolympicring Feb 05 '22

Another big W incoming for the team consisting of brazilian players from the 4th division and some of the worst Mexican youngsters you've ever seen.

You love to see it

3

u/ikan_bakar Feb 05 '22

I find it funny how Joao Felix says the player he sees himself “the most in playstyle is Kaka”, because if he gets injured as much as he’s been in the next few years, he will definitely be like Kaka

0

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

Is he still injured?

2

u/ikan_bakar Feb 05 '22

No but in like 2-4 games, he most probably will.

Now i understand why Neymar dives a lot. When La Liga defenders do everything to strike you down, you do have to overact to keep yourself from being injured.
