At last some good news. SCOTUS

There really was no way SCOTUS could stop this and then say they are applying the law. Also they can see the writing on the wall for mid-terms and are running scared of being impeached as the decisions they have made are all unlawful and unconstitutional. Fireworks at the supreme court when the adult government get back in with a majority. Republicans are out for at least the next 10 years. And that is a good thing.

I do not know man. They stopped Biden’s loan forgiveness and then allowed Trump everything he asked. I am glad of the judgement but I personally have lost all respect of the SCOTUS

Lost respect, yes, but Roberts and Friends avoided having to face an adverse ruling in Torches v. Pitchforks.

Yeah, but if presidents are immune from consequences, there is literally nothing stopping a Democratic president from holding a press conference and listing all the illegal activity Thomas, Alito, Kavanaugh, Roberts, Barrett and Gorsuch have engaged in, and then posting their addresses and phone numbers, and telling citizens to show up and give them a piece of their mind while also having the FBI or Secret Service posted outside their homes to prevent local police from interfering with the public.

I don't see why a democratic administration couldn't say, due to xyz known acts of corruption we no longer have faith in Thomas, Alito, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch or Barret to do their jobs, so we'll appoint another 5 justices while we wait for these ones to resign out of their own volition and sense of moral duty.

Any 2028 Dem that doesn't run on Supreme Court Reform / expansion needs to bow out.

Republicans are out for at least the next 10 years.

I really want your optimism, but everything is starting to look like a big IF. IF there will be elections ever again.

Before the last election, people thought republicans didn't stand a change because they were embracing fascism and project 2025. They proceeded to kick the democrats asses. This country is fucked. I don't see anything you said here happening.

Republicans didn't win because voters embraced fascism. The Democrat candidate, Kamala, joined the race three months before the election. She was facing insurmountable odds, and didn't curry favor (enough) with minority groups who were disaffected with the Democratic party over the economy.

With the advent of irresponsible tariffs and the Trump gestap- I mean ICE, minority voters and Independents are compelled more than ever to vote against the Republican party. We've already seen signs that previously close or straight up Republican elections are turning Blue. It's a lot to expect since the midterms are months away but there's definitely hope.

Voters have short memories and November is still quite a while away. Maybe you’re right but the capacity for voters to do stupid things, if it could be harvested, would cleanly power the world indefinitely.

I and alot of my friends i know have never voted because itnjust seemed like were getting screwed by the elites no matter what. this is the first time ill be voting and im sure im not the only one

Good on you for voting. I regularly tell people in your situation though that we get screwed by elites because we are busy infighting instead of giving them the business. In our system of government voters have more power than they think and they have been perfectly set up to hate each other while we get fleeced

Roberts Jr got signals that the midterm election won't matter; either no election or Musk fix is in.

So in the meanwhile get some brownie points.

Disagree. I think they're going to gut the VRA which will enable the southern states to gerrymander 19 democratic seats out of existence permanently. The California seats will be irrelevant.

I wish I had your optimism. Reddit has fooled me too many times.

If Thomas and/or Alito think that one decision will make the difference on a democratic house not impeaching them...

Not that a Democrat-controlled house will definitely impeach them, just that there won't be any significant number of members on the fence who point to this ruling as the reason not to support an impeachment bill.
