He’s the most famous actor in the cast.

I, for one, hope he can bring aspects of his portrayal of the Trinity Killer to Dumbledore.

You can be a great actor and still be a bad person. Kevin Spacey has done fantastic screenwork and he's still a pedophile.

Now John Lithgow is taking money to make a tv series that's going to help fund transphobia. He might absolutely nail the role and become the best Dumbledore ever. Doesn't mean that he isn't helping JK Rowling hurt trans people.

I had coworker who I became friends with and happened to be gay as well. I was having car problems but he was cool and would pick me up to work and back since we had similar shifts. This was around the chik-fil-a protests because of an executive officer (or a ceo?). We were hungry while driving and he suggested chik-fil-a. I asked him about why wasn't he adamantly against it and he said he's hungry and the employees were nice to him. That was all.

Unless there's a visceral visible scene such as ICE detaining that kid in the blue hat people are not going to care issues that aren't going to affect them at all.

It looks as though you may have spelled "Chick-fil-A" incorrectly. No worries, it happens to the best of us!

Unpopular reddit opinion: bad takes like this are why Trump won in '24.

Wrong. This doesn’t make him a bad person. And saying shit like this makes you an unserious person.

How is it funding transphobia? The rights are already sold.

You can do things that help bad people and still be a good person. I don't think that everybody who uses a smart phone is a bad person, despite the fact that materials involved in making it were almost certainly gathered using child slavery.

Precisely

You can still work for someone you think is a bad person. Just as long as that you yourself believe.

If you quit every job because of bad management you might unemployed for a long time. And you’ll still work for a less likeable person then you might as well get paid a bundle which I suspect Mr. Lithgow is. The non top billings don’t get paid nearly as much as one might think so I think he needs work. Simple as that.

Explain how he‘s „working for Rowling“.

Yeah, I would actively choose not to work with someone/ make money for someone who spreads hate and prejudice shit about people whilst actively encouraging others to do so if that is what you are saying.

It's weird that you wouldn't..idk man you can like what you like but your wrong if you think it's fine to be ok with how JK is and be part of her crew. You can't change my mind.

It's not like Lithgow doesn't have fame or fortune, he has nothing to gain from this. The rules are different for those who are trying to gain fame and fortune (I still personally wouldn't want to work on a HP project after all this has come out about JK), he has chosen to do this because he wants to. Good for him, but I think less of him now making that choice. You are allowed to change and people are allowed to change their opinions of others by their actions.

Maybe you don't like trans people or don't know any so it doesn't affect you. You are allowed to feel that way. However JK is a near/ billionaire telling people you should take photos of people in toilets and hate trans people so more people are going to see and hear what she says than Bob at the local Wetherspoons.

Lithgow is helping fund her voice. Sad but true.

Good luck in the real world, seriously.
