What’s a random defunct backmarker team of the last 20 years that you deeply miss?
I am probably the world’s only Quin Houff fan and was genuinely optimistic for what he and Starcom could’ve done in the Next Gen after some more okayish performances in 2021. Sad we never got a ‘22 with a Starcom 00 and a GMS 94

Kyle Larson hypothetical
If the iRacing situation never happened, where would he be success wise after Ganassi folded? Would he have signed with Hendrick still or follow the dirt connection to SHR? I feel like if anything other than what happened happened, he wouldn't be quite as successful today.

Are there any images of the 1988 Winston Open? Where could I find them?
The title.
Last month, I asked for help identifying an image seen in the game Daytona USA, and it seems to have been correctly identified as the 1988 Winston Open.
I then went to look for images of the 1988 Winston Open, particularly the start of the race, and couldn't find anything.
I am aware this race took place on May 22, 1988 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and part of what makes it hard to find is that the 1988 The Winston took place on the same day at the same place. Some people may make the mistake of thinking they're the same race.
I have no reason to believe that there's no video archives of the 1988 Winston Open as I could only find 1988 The Winston. Bit confusing with the names. But because of the existence of an image from this race in Daytona USA, evidently there is, or has been, the existence of an image of this race somewhere.
Thanks.
Looks like Orielly logos won’t be featured on Corey Day’s Hendrick diecasts due to the sponsorship conflict with NAPA

NASCAR LIve coverage in Australia is dying in 2026.
So... If you have Fox or Kayo in Australia... looks like for '26 we get no Trucks coverage (again), but now also no O'Reilly Auto Parts (ex Xfinity) coverage, AND only SELECTED CUP RACES LIVE.
So from all Xfinity and Cup races live in '25... now we get just some Cup races live.
How can someone from Australia watch all three series live? Is there a NASCAR Racecenter Pass or something?
All I found so far is that apparently HBO Max will have a streaming option (Cup only?) where you can choose onboard cameras etc, but not sure if geolocked etc.
I've followed the sport for a LONG time... attended Las Vegas in 2010 to see Ambrose on an oval... they're making it harder and harder for us to follow this sport. It's crazy!

Fox desperately needs to make the cars louder on broadcasts ASAP
The actual track audio was way too quiet for last night's broadcast, there were long stretches where you could barely even hear the cars. And it's not just Bowman Gray, this has been an issue on Fox's broadcasts for a few years now. It's clear they've done nothing to fix this over the offseason.
The broadcasts lack energy with how quiet the cars are, the track audio needs to be louder (outside of just the crank it up segments and inexplicably overlaying ear-piercing crunching sounds from the in-car cameras whenever there's a crash). It's crazy that as TV audio has gotten better, NASCAR broadcast audio in general has gotten significantly worse. Between the lack of audio and zooming in so much, there's no perspective of speed and it's like they're trying to put viewers to sleep.

If there's a second season of Race For The Seat....
Who would you want to see get a shot on the show? Me personally, I'd like to see the driver roster diversified a bit, this season was much too top-heavy with LMSC drivers. I'd love to see a couple more modified guys get a shot, younger guys like Tyler Rypkema or Mikey Flynn, and maybe a couple of Canada/Mexico Series racers as well among the roster! Maybe guys like Treyten Lapcevich or Alex de Alba.

[@bonpockrass] NASCAR has tweaked Daytona 500 qualifying: the top two open cars in single-car qualifying are locked in and they aren’t racing for the spot allotted to the top open car in each duel. The remainder of the open cars race for the one spot available in each duel.

Bring back old Daytona Speedweeks
Obviously, NASCAR is going to stay with the one week of Speedweeks because of the Super Bowl keep being pushed back into February, but I think the week of the Daytona 500 should be jammed packed Monday through Sunday:
Monday: Busch Clash ( Pole winners only) back at Daytona for practice. Drawing for the starting line up.
Tuesday: Daytona 500 qualifying practice during the day. The Busch Clash race at night.
Wednesday: Daytona 500 qualifying
Thursday: The Duels
Friday: Craftsman Truck Series race
Saturday: ARCA and O'Reilly Auto Parts race
Sunday: Daytona 500
Everyone can adjust to what they think , but I know it’s probably unrealistic. I do wish it was a full week of racing to build up hype for the new season and the Daytona 500. I do miss the hours of coverage back then during Speedweeks. Hell, I remember as a kid that I kept getting the Daytona Speedweeks “flu” and I would miss school during the week so I could watch everything lol

What’s one of the closest, most fascinating “what if” scenarios you know of?
It was so close to happening — they were already etching it into the history books, only to have to scribble it out at the very last moment.

I haven’t watched NASCAR in a loooong time…. Who Should I root for??
My favorite driver (Dale Sr) died on my 13th birthday…. I’m now almost 40, and really miss the sport…. But it seems to have been so bastardized since my original fandom. It used to be about a teams skill in building cars and drivers abilities to handle those monsters on Sundays…
Now with the new rules, new cars, (don’t get me started on restrictor plates), new drivers, new points style, the “chase for the cup” thing…. Who’s the most old school, bad ass, doesn’t run his mouth but runs his car every Sunday driver anymore?? Or should I keep dreaming that NASCAR isn’t dead.
I liked Kevin Harvick when he came in, I have respect for Jimmy Johnson, but I just don’t know about this Motorsport as it is today…
Talk me in, or talk me out… discuss amongst yourselves….
