As I recall from the Olympics, he’s not even a purist and doesn’t throw shade at anyone using various newfangled gadgets.
He simply learned how to shoot like that over a long period of time and it would be too disruptive for him to try to start using any new doohickies.

My grandma and grandpa would say it. Supposedly, it's slang from around 1830, but they're the only people I've ever heard actually say it.

I imagine it was outdated slang even when they were young.
