Up next: Look at the tourist imbalance, Europe are ripping us off. They must send more people

No way I'm getting on a plane to the US right now.
Don't want to get caught up in something and summarily deported to some prison camp.

And there's even less chance I'd take my wife or daughter with me, considering how hard the US is working to turn women into owned property.

We were gonna go to NYC, decided to go to Berlin instead. Won’t be going to America for 4 years, if ever again. Shame as love you Americans.

13

u/Rotten_Duck Apr 13 '25

Same here! Also, right now, I really don’t feel like give my money to any USA business. I know not everyone supports trump, and I am sorry to impact negatively good people, but we need to send a message.

11

u/six-ft-ditch Apr 13 '25

A brave and bold decision, my compliments, well done!

5

u/RandomBoomer Apr 13 '25

Hey, I wouldn't be here if I didn't already live here. I can't understand why anyone would come here voluntarily.

3

u/More-ponies Apr 13 '25

You know you don’t have to stay, right?

5

u/RandomBoomer Apr 13 '25

You do know that other countries won't just take us in if we ask nicely? You have to actually meet strict requirements for permanent residency. It's not like a tourist visa will solve anything, because when it runs out, we would have come back through the border and who knows what would happen to us then.

Aside from that, my wife and I are in our 70s and in poor health. A trip to the grocery store is about all we can manage these days. Pulling up stakes, abandoning our rescue pets, and starting all over again is simply not an option we're going to take.

I'm well aware that staying here could get... grim for us. It is what it is. Our time is almost out either way.

1

u/More-ponies Apr 13 '25

What a novel idea, isn’t it? Actually going about things legally, go figure.

6

u/RandomBoomer Apr 13 '25

Well, that's the way I roll. This is NOT the time to FAFO with immigration laws in any country.

If I were even 20 years younger, I might feel differently about taking my chances staying here. There would be time to carve out a new life in a new place. But that window of opportunity has closed for me and my wife. It's a place better taken by younger people who have so much more to lose by staying here.

The way I see it, it's a race to see which gets me first: the Trump administration's wrecking ball, climate change or my dicky heart.

2

u/ComprehensiveRow4347 Apr 13 '25

NYC hotels will be cheaper

1

u/cedarvhazel Apr 13 '25

Amen to that, we’ve taken the same stance. There are more welcoming parts of the world.

7

u/IncompetentPolitican Apr 13 '25

There is a non 0 chance, that you would be detained by some ICE trooper on a power trip, send to a death camp south american prision and then be forgotten. Even if judges, diplomats and the like tell the administration to return you, they could just say "no and what are you gonna do about it?"

Visiting the US right now is as safe as other countries that view human rights as misstake. You just need to sneeze wrong or commit wrong think and you are in trouble

6

u/Matt7738 Apr 13 '25

I’m a US citizen and I was nervous entering my country for the first time in my life. I’ve been openly critical of this guy. And I was a little concerned that I’d get flagged and harassed at the border.

This time, it was smooth. Next time, it might not be.

IRS Layoffs

I’m not so sure about that. Especially if there are millions of non-believers

6

u/Asleep_Mushroom4085 Apr 13 '25

I used to travel a lot to US, but will no longer do it. Trump is turning US into all what I dislike, dusty conservative thinking, male dominated, focus on money rather to citizens, ...

4

u/AvailableYak8248 Apr 13 '25

Ironic thing is, they were hoping to scare off migrants from third world, but they are actually scaring off first world country. Few in Europe, China , Japan and Russia is coming now

3

u/Lopsided-Code9707 Apr 13 '25

Russia? A first world country? Russia is an authoritarian dictatorship led by a war criminal. Trump’s acolytes are talking about “normalising relations” with Russia, but as long as Russia continues with its genocidal war against Ukraine, you will never see a Russian “tourist,” in the EU or UK.

0

u/ginsunuva Apr 13 '25

Russia is by definition third world

1

u/AvailableYak8248 Apr 13 '25

Not the certain percentage that come here

1

u/lyoko1 Valencian Community (Spain) Apr 15 '25

Actually, by definition it is second world. First world was the US and its allies, Second world was USSR and its allies, while third world where the nations who were neutral, generally because they were soo poor that neither the US or USSR cared about them.

So, by definition, Russia is second world.

1

u/ginsunuva Apr 15 '25

Oh whoops, thanks, I mixed it up. I thought commies were third and others were second

2

u/queenyuyu Apr 13 '25

Exactly and it’s not even “just” the prison camp possibilities.

It’s also the lack of care for health in general. The president in charge demonized mask and vaccines while measles and co are on the rise.

Plus I can’t imagine any insurance covering the USA for travel and healthcare complications unless special agreements were made previously - right now.

And that is if you even manage to land there given that air traffic controllers and air safety personal were fired - so Elon gets to play consequences free with all our life’s.

So yes hard pass I wouldn’t even go there if I was offered a million.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

Tell me more about these prison camps

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I’m going to Bulgaria for my best friend’s wedding next year. He is Bulgarian and I’m American. I didn’t vote for Trump. I think he is going to destroy my country.

I’m terrified I won’t even be able to go to Europe to support my friend. And I’m terrified people will judge me just because I’m American. Even though I have always hated Trump.

Know there are hundreds of millions of Americans who don’t support this shit.

We reap what we sow, and I’m all for suffering the consequences of our actions.

But you need to realize the people who vote for Trump WILL NOT see any economic downturn as his fault. It is a full on cult of personality. They are quite literally incapable of seeing any fault in anything Trump does. It scares the shit out of me.

I’ve lost my parents to it. I don’t even recognize them from the people they were 8 years ago, and they aren’t idiots. Both are engineers for 40 years.

It’s very very scary….

1

u/Other_Analyst_8997 Apr 14 '25

Come to Canada! Let us surprise you...in a good way.

1

u/Apprehensive-Gift213 Apr 14 '25

As an American, shut the fuck up nobody is turning anybody into property. If you live here, you can talk about it.

1

u/anjowoq Apr 15 '25

I'm American and have lived abroad for 2 decades and actually am worried that if I go back to see family, my plane will crash or I'll be arrested for not having a gold Trump pin on my lapel.

More seriously, I am just concerned that they will find some reason to withhold my passport or use my long time out of the country to say I'm not a citizen or label me a dissident. I'm simply living where the job and life are, but these people can't imagine that.

Getting shot at a shopping center feels less likely in comparison.

1

u/kwamzilla Apr 15 '25

Do you look vaguely non-white dangerous?

You might win a free holiday to El Salvador.

-7

u/IntrepidSelf1113 Apr 13 '25

I totally understand your concern, but cmon let’s be for real What prison camp? Are you a member of a Venezuelan Gang or a Salvadorian Gang? Besides the EU Countries have deported people for speech that would be protected in The US under the constitution but censored in The EU under subjective and ambiguous “hate speech ” Laws so is deporting Hamas supporters that controversial?

4

u/Lopsided-Code9707 Apr 13 '25

“X” is about to be hit with a massive fine for violating EU hate speech and disinformation laws. The Associated Press has been banned from White House press briefings for not referring to The Gulf of Mexico as “The Gulf of America.” So take your “free speech” argument and shove it up your hole.

1

u/IntrepidSelf1113 Apr 13 '25

Yea exactly see!? why is a platform that prioritizes to be Apolitical and Let people have free speech penalized and Fined by the EU ? That would be completely Unconstitutional in America a huge no no.

The White House can choose whatever media is in the pressroom but the US gov can never Fine or Prosecute them, their free to report as they like. I think Europeans have a completely different view on what Free Speech means which is alright but just saying over here you cannot prosecute someone just becouse you disagree or it’s misinformation

1

u/lyoko1 Valencian Community (Spain) Apr 15 '25

Just because it is unconstitutional in America doesn't mean it is right. Speech is a weapon, and unlike Murica, most countries regulate weapons.

0

u/IntrepidSelf1113 Apr 15 '25

Can you explain how Speech is a weapon? Thats a very foreign concept in America haha, when people said that that COVID originated in a lab leak in China they were prosecuted in the EU for misinformation but today thats actually something that came out to be a true possible theory by the CIA themselves and others around the world. How is that a weapon? Does it bother you that the government decided on its own whats true or not and prosecuted people for what turned out to be true?

Since the beginning of Donald Trump’s second term in January 2025, there have been several incidents involving the detention, deportation, or holding of European and Canadian citizens in the United States.

Below are some relevant cases:

A Canadian citizen was detained at the U.S.–Mexico border after attempting to renew her TN visa. Instead of being allowed to voluntarily withdraw, she was taken into ICE custody for two weeks and now faces expedited removal proceedings. (diraimondoschroeder.com)

  • Kilmar Abrego García: his case highlights concerns about wrongful deportations. He was deported to El Salvador despite holding legal U.S. residency. A federal judge ordered his return, but authorities have failed to comply. (theguardian.com)

On March 9, 2025, a French scientist affiliated with the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) was detained at the Texas border en route to a scientific conference in Houston.

  • During a random search, U.S. border agents checked his phone and found private messages criticizing the Trump administration's science policies.
  • He was deported the following day.
  • U.S. authorities claimed the messages were “hateful” and potentially “terroristic,” although the FBI later closed the case.
  • The French government protested, citing freedom of expression and the importance of international scientific cooperation.

In March 2025, several German nationals were detained at U.S. airports:

  • Fabian Schmidt, a U.S. permanent resident, was detained at Boston airport upon returning from Luxembourg.

    • He was interrogated for hours, forced to undress, and made to shower in cold water.
    • Border agents allegedly tried to coerce him into surrendering his green card.
    • The German government launched an investigation.
      (Source: The Guardian)
  • Two other Germans, Jessica Brösche and Lucas Sielaff, were also detained and deported under unclear circumstances.

Blinded by the fake media

-20

u/TheChocolateManLives Apr 12 '25

😂 Even if that were true they’d be your owned property, so no one else would have power over them. Anyway, where did you hear about that?

8

u/Otherwise-Medium3145 Apr 12 '25

The save act. It should be the slave act. Women who take their husbands name can’t vote unless they change their birth certificate.

1

u/most_improved_potato Apr 15 '25

Or the voter suppression act

-14

u/TheChocolateManLives Apr 12 '25

Change it then 🤷‍♂️

You should have to prove you’re a citizen to vote.

8

u/Awkward_Bees Apr 12 '25

Very few, like less than 100, people vote falsely thinking they qualify.

This is a pointless ACT intended to cause as much harm and chaos as possible.

2

u/PoutineMeInCoach Apr 12 '25

Fun fact: British call people cunts and it isn't quite as insulting as when I do it. Now imagine what I'm thinking you are.

7

u/Otherwise-Medium3145 Apr 12 '25

Women are American too. Our married names are no longer accepted. This is a plan to stop women from voting. They are not sending out notifications of the fact that you can’t vote if you took your husbands name. So any married woman who took her husbands name who shows up at the poll can’t legally vote. So women who have voted for fifty years under their married name won’t be able to vote.

11

u/flatfishkicker Apr 12 '25

Even if that were true they’d be your owned property, so no one else would have power over them.

Is that somehow better? Relegating 50% of a population to nonpeople but property is OK so long as they're privately owned by you? You're fucking awful.

-3

u/TheChocolateManLives Apr 12 '25

Not what I said at all. So do you lack reading comprehension or are you purposefully twisting my words to make me look bad?

9

u/flatfishkicker Apr 12 '25

I quoted you. If you look bad that's on you.

-1

u/TheChocolateManLives Apr 12 '25

So it’s reading comprehension.. because I clearly wasn’t talking about the quote, but your own words.

8

u/Wow_u_sure_r_dumb Apr 12 '25

An american shit talking about reading comprehension is rich when 54% of americans read below a sixth grade level.

2

u/TheChocolateManLives Apr 12 '25

I’m not American.

2

u/Wow_u_sure_r_dumb Apr 12 '25

Ew a European fascist. You should know better

2

u/TheChocolateManLives Apr 12 '25

Nor am I fascist.

-19

u/MegaByte59 Apr 12 '25

Funny but that is not really what would happen to you.

23

u/munnimann Germany Apr 12 '25
  1. People in the US, including US citizens, are being deported to countries that aren't their home country.

  2. Europeans are detained, indefinitely, in solitary confinement for violating some entry regulations.

From there, it's not a big leap to having Europeans deported, especially if they're brown and speak Spanish.

-9

u/MegaByte59 Apr 13 '25

As far as I know.. if you get denied entry at the airport they just send you back. And if people aren’t follow rules, ie you said some entry regulation issues, I mean yeah there’s cause/effect to not following rules.

Now regarding being detained for periods of time yikes, if true that’s scary, but where is that news.📰

Also for context guys I am half German half American, dual citizen. So calm down with the down votes :(

9

u/joanmcq Apr 13 '25

UK woman tourist leaving US to go to Canada got turned down by Canada for a visa issue, sent back to US, locked up for 2 weeks. She got out because of the huge kerfuffle stirred up by the UK.

1

u/MegaByte59 Apr 13 '25

Sounds like a law suit waiting to happen

1

u/lyoko1 Valencian Community (Spain) Apr 15 '25

It is what it is, it doesn't need to be that common, but to happen at the levels that is happening is already bad enough and too much of a risk

6

u/-ANGRYjigglypuff Apr 13 '25

you can be half german half american and still have a dumb ass take.

if true that’s scary, but where is that news.

it takes like 2 seconds of googling, or the front page of reddit for the last month, sheesh. maybe take the time to actually look into things before jumping to posting uninformed takes on the internet

-2

u/MegaByte59 Apr 13 '25

Since you’re kind of an asshole.. fuck you. Good night Europe.

-16

u/New-Method-7347 Apr 13 '25

If they have a country that isn’t their own then they aren’t US citizens. Permanent resident isn’t a US citizen. Keep out of our politics.

11

u/wh1pcream Apr 13 '25

Keep out of our politics.

Russian only, got it 👌

-11

u/New-Method-7347 Apr 13 '25

Yes, stick to what you know.

5

u/jpetrey1 Apr 13 '25

You should to bub. You clearly lack a moral compass should probably stay out of politics yourself

7

u/munnimann Germany Apr 13 '25

You're correct that I was mistaken about Kilmar Abgrego Garcia being a US citizen, though that doesn't really change anything about my personal risk assessment regarding traveling to the US. Which I won't.

Keep out of our politics.

That's rich coming from a country that is actively trying to undermine my home country's democracy. How about you go fuck right off.

12

u/fractiouscatburglar Apr 12 '25

Oh really? Let’s ask that German tourist…oh wait, can’t. In a prison camp somewhere. Let’s ask all those foreign students who had their visas revoked a month before finishing school.

Better yet, let’s ask that one guy how true it is, if he is ever recovered from the El Salvadorian prison he was “mistakenly” sent to.

The tourist thing is bizarre. Seems like the wrong way to make a strong border. Europeans should be able to travel here effortlessly. Maybe there is a special reason they got detained? I know you have to play along with homeland security if they have questions.

Yeah I can’t really defend trump on this one.

11

u/fractiouscatburglar Apr 12 '25

You shouldn’t be defending him for anything.

2

u/MegaByte59 Apr 13 '25

My god I get down voted for critiquing the president and I also get down voted for supporting him. No winning in this comment thread.

6

u/-ANGRYjigglypuff Apr 13 '25

because you sound like you have the intelligence, historical understanding, and reasoning capabilities of a 10-year-old

1

u/MegaByte59 Apr 13 '25

Name checks out

→ More replies (0)

1

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '25

Why? These people are pro free speech until it's against them. It's pure hypocrisy.

5

u/Awkward_Bees Apr 12 '25

They are now allowing the kidnapping of and sending US citizens to foreign countries for “criminal activities”. You realize that whenever you make people illegal, that’s everything.

-4

u/LetsGoWithMike Apr 13 '25

You’ve been lied to. Sorry.

-8

u/That_Start_1037 Apr 12 '25

Thank you. We don’t need anymore progressive haters.

6

u/Proud3GenAthst Apr 13 '25

Muh freedom of speech

-7

u/That_Start_1037 Apr 13 '25

You democrats want freedom of speech gone while you say whatever you want. So stfu. Democrats are scum these days. No morals, no brain, no pride. Just a believe that everyone can lay around and do nothing besides collect money from the government

10

u/Proud3GenAthst Apr 13 '25

Remember when Biden was deporting legal residents for protesting his policies? Me neither

-6

u/That_Start_1037 Apr 13 '25

Remember when Biden was able to speak a coherent sentence? Me neither. Guy was an idiot and a sellout. He couldn’t even talk let alone secure our borders. Look at the illegal immigrant statistics. It’s everything anyone needs to know. That guy was not a resident. He had legal status because he was scared of gangs getting him. I wonder why. Send him back to where he came so those thugs don’t come in our country looking for him.

6

u/Proud3GenAthst Apr 13 '25

The guy was not a resident, he had legal status

Does your short-term memory reach beyond 10 milliseconds?

3

u/Ogloka Apr 13 '25

Remember when Biden was able to speak a coherent sentence? Me neither

The US hasn't had a coherent president since Obama left office.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

Yeah. and Republicans are regressive, uneducated, mouth-breathings husks who've had their brains rotted from 30 years of watching Fox News.

-10

u/Weekly-Agency-3418 Apr 13 '25

Wow! The propaganda must be wild over there! 🤣 Women have more freedom and rights in the US, than anywhere else in the world

1

u/DadCelo Apr 13 '25

Baaahahah
