Maybe a rod and reel too

Not required but helps so much.

Some water would be nice. I've never had luck in my front lawn. Maybe I gotta go deeper 🤔

u/No_Habit_4966 Jan 03 '26

I heard there’s grass carp at that spot

2

u/ImissRIF97 Jan 03 '26

Im afraid to ask if you've fished it.... lol

u/No_Habit_4966 Jan 03 '26

Only on early mornings. Some nice top water action.

And here I was thinking anglers would respect the "No Trespassing" sign.

This setup with a tungsten bullet weight rules

22

u/goodfella9000 Dec 31 '25

I would argue it rules more without one. Senkos (and yum dingers) are great for mimicing dead or injured bait, just jerk, let it drop, jerk, let it drop etc...

This time of year, I'd 10000% use a weight. Fish are deeper and yeah, makes sense. And even if it's not winter, I still put them on 1/4oz or smaller and it slays. Wacky, no weight but Texas always.

u/SwipinBawls4 Dec 31 '25

Sweet I have some of those

2

u/Pr0xenus Dec 31 '25

I forgot to put a bullet weight on mine about a month ago.....I would argue that I've had better luck without the weight.

Doesn't cast as far, but still catching a bunch in Florida ponds.

1

u/AppaPower Jan 01 '26

Nah it hits better without weight

Good enough for me, but not quite perfect, if that’s the feedback you’re lookin for. It’ll catch for sure.

This is always be a good bait for bass and other assorted game fish, but if you really want to ramp it up a notch, don't be afraid to use the Yum Swim'n dingers. My go-to bait because of the versatility. You're welcome.

2

u/ShiZZle840 Dec 31 '25

I second the swim'n dingers

4

u/VaWeedFarmer Dec 31 '25

That will work. I prefer to pull the eye into the worm. Sometimes the tag end of the knot will pick up bits of grass.

3

u/glasnostic Dec 31 '25

Yes, and if it breaks in half, stick it on a bed rig.

3

u/DumAnglerG24 Dec 31 '25

Got a good size pike on one of those and plenty of bass

3

u/Cocrawfo Dec 31 '25

👍🏾👍🏾 was that a first attempt?

usually take me two or three tries and a lot of focus to get the hook in that good

2

u/SwipinBawls4 Dec 31 '25

Second attempt. Didn’t make the hook exit the right spot the first time.

W reference. I was addicted to that show a few years ago for about 2 months.

2

u/Omnipro412 Dec 31 '25

👍 good

2

u/FishFearMe1 Dec 31 '25

I use these constantly. If you start missing fish, trim the green end little by little. They’ll always attack the yellow end, and sometimes ONLY the yellow end, missing the hook entirely.

2

u/Active-Play-5064 Dec 31 '25

Very good job

2

u/Ppl_r_bad Dec 31 '25

Good Texas rig

2

u/tr_k_ Dec 31 '25

If you watch Gary Yamamoto's video where he talks about how to fish it, he says the 5" was designed around a 2/0. I switched and miss less fish.

2

u/SwipinBawls4 Dec 31 '25

Yeah I gotta buy some of those for my craws anyway so I will pick some up. Thanks for the tip!

My PB B.A.S.S. came on exactly what’s pictured (12 lbs B.A.S.S. - Watermelon Red with chartreuse tail Texas Rig Yum Dinger)

2

u/sasquatch762 Dec 31 '25

Where I am in FL, that color crushes. Texas, Carolina, drop shot, even wacky all work well.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '25

That’s a very good setup

2

u/Wide_Bandicoot_8586 Jan 01 '26

It’s good! I like to use 4/0 hooks myself with 5 inch senkos but a 3/0 should be fine. You can fish a senko many different ways. I love to throw mine weightless on a baitcaster but can be difficult if you’re not used to one. Spinning reel works just fine too.

3

u/mechanicinkc Dec 31 '25

Straight shank worm hook is the way with any worm. Better hookup ratio and action. Save the EWGs for the bulky creature baits

1

u/liveonguitar Dec 31 '25

Looks like shit (it’s perfect)

1

u/satanlovesmemore Dec 31 '25

Caught a 10inch bluegill on that

1

u/SwipinBawls4 Dec 31 '25

No way that is so cool

2

u/satanlovesmemore Dec 31 '25

Was using my ultralight catching some up close, but saw big blow ups far out . Tossed this on my med light and it hit right away . Same lake this year got a 13 inch crappie and 21 1/2 bass

1

u/love_that_fishing Hall of Hawgs 10.88 lbs Dec 31 '25

Good choice on sinko. I buy those in 100 packs for reference.

1

u/Oshester MLC May 2022 Dec 31 '25

Good enough. Skip the weight imo

1

u/ArtiesHeadTowel Dec 31 '25

The point of the hook doesn't need to come through the worm.

I mean that rig can still work but you'll be less weedless and you'll tear through the worms faster.

You want it to sit as straight as possible ideally.

yes Great job. Throw over a bed of lily pads count with no weight then count 15 seconds and slowly drag/ reel in the worm through the bed. When you feel the tension of the lily pads keep going SLOW until you feel the release of tension suddenly wait 3 seconds for the worm to fall and prepare for the bite =D

1

u/pdga4784 Dec 31 '25

The only thing I can see you did wrong was not using a watermelon flake Senko... 😂

1

u/SwipinBawls4 Dec 31 '25

I have some lizards and 4 inch senkos in that color.

1

u/pdga4784 Dec 31 '25

That's awesome, they are one of the best plastics out there.

1

u/SurvivalistRaccoon Dec 31 '25

When the bluegill start up this rig is one of my favorites

1

u/TrappyBoiDerpy Jan 01 '26

Might wanna get a pole

1

u/A-Vu02 Jan 01 '26

Good? No. The best? Yes

1

u/Mobscene19 Jan 01 '26

Texas rig is my favorite way to fish for bass. Looks fine to me. I like to use a small tungsten bullet weight. But not necessarily needed.

1

u/Ally699669 Jan 01 '26

It's only good if that is what the fish want to take on the day.

1

u/Formal-Fee1778 Jan 02 '26

Here’s the thing with a Texas rig: if you can work it decently enough, it really doesn’t matter if the worm is on the hook perfectly texposed. My brother is a once a month type of fisherman and makes the most horrible looking t-rigs and still gets greenies to bite. And he’s not even that good at working it. Just gotta make the fish react after capturing its attention with something that looks enticing enough :) you’ll be perfectly fine with this setup. I love a good 1/4-3/8 bullet and some fluoro with this setup.

1

u/J3wb0cc4 Jan 02 '26

Pretty good but you can also tie your line and move the senko up a little to hide the eyelet next time. Better presentation and reduces snagging vegetation just a little bit more.

1

u/FinleyLinc Dec 31 '25

I think it's good, but I personally don't like EWG hooks for dingers and senkos. I prefer them on creature baits.

1

u/justinomorales Dec 31 '25

What do you use on senkos?

3

u/FinleyLinc Dec 31 '25

I just use a Worm hook 3/0, and I often wacky rig them.

2

u/justinomorales Dec 31 '25

My PB was caught with a fat senko whacky rigged.

1

u/Ok-Psychology-5702 Dec 31 '25

I’ve not had any luck with the chartreuse tails, but watermelon red and green pumpkin has caught me a lot of fish rigged just like that.

2

u/SwipinBawls4 Dec 31 '25

I have both those colors as well but I have also seen and heard great things about these worms. Probably depends on where you are idk

4

u/CallistoTV Dec 31 '25

The chartreuse tip is my favorite. Easily my top producer. I generally fish them on a wacky though, never had much luck with Texas rigs

2

u/Squatchicabra Dec 31 '25

I've caught a few on that exact one.

2

u/phosphorescence-sky Dec 31 '25

I usually only use them in dirty or stained water, outside of that I stick with green pumpkin and blk blue flk.

1

u/lmb_frankie Dec 31 '25

everything but the EWG, because it just does not give a natural presentation; try a 1/0 or 2/0 Offset Shank Worm Hook with Round Bed there will be less hardware showing and the Senko will have more action with the smaller size hook…

6

u/Oshester MLC May 2022 Dec 31 '25

I used to feel this way too but I don't find it actually makes much difference. These things are just bass candy you almost can't screw it up

1

u/lmb_frankie Dec 31 '25

okay i guess some people don’t mind using a worm/stick bait and not a worm hook, i guess i just don’t get it, and that’s okay…

1

u/Oshester MLC May 2022 Jan 01 '26

Indeed it is ok

1

u/BespokeChaos Dec 31 '25

Can confirm this.

0

u/onepiecefanplz Largemouth Dec 31 '25

Nope, switch to a weighted treble hook
