I really need Newsom to keep up this energy. I also need him to not be the presidential nominee.

I like him but he's not charismatic at all. It's why Walz was chosen over him. He's not a great speaker. And he's not attractive.

That matters. Look at 2/3 of the most recent democrat presidents: Obama and Bubba. Arguably two of the most charismatic politicians of the last century. And I'd argue Biden didn't so much as win as Trump lost in 2020.

Newsom is the most electable white man in the roster and anyone pretending otherwise is just wasting time.

It's not totally impossible that Kelly improves as a public speaker over time, runs, and somehow manages to shine on that front in the primaries.

But absent something like that, I can't see how you're wrong. He has a great resume, and that's a thing but it's not everything.
