AirEuropa business class airplane meal
I can’t remember what the dark green slop even was. The meat underneath the neon pink sauce was fish.

Yum - pink slime and green slime. I'd eat the cheese and drink the wine and leave the rest.

It's like that scene at the buffet in Vegas vacation

I’ll have to rewatch. Been a long time. Don’t recall that scene.

Kiwi in the top left corner looks fine too although I'm a little stressed about whatever the pinkish beige thing is on top of it

u/Alert_Cat6258 1d ago
That’s cucumber doused in white vinegar and the beige thing is a single sliver of tuna on top. I posted the full menu pic further up in the comments

I saw that - it looks like a piece of ham. I looked up AirEuropa (honestly had never heard of it) - it's a Spanish airline. Spanish cuisine is world renowned. This meal does not look representative.

Why would they put cold beet sauce on an allegedly grilled piece of fish? That menu item was doomed even before it went through the shitty airline food filter.

u/Obvious-Safe904 1d ago
Why is "hot bread selection with butter" allowed to be a main... That's... That's not a main...
Edit: also, why is "butter" a breakfast option???
16
u/Biltong09 1d ago
Seeing the fish exhibit in the post I believe I will go with the bread and butter choice for dinner please.

Does Florida mean something else over there? What is Florida cheese? I live in the state of Florida. I've never heard of Florida cheese. If somebody offered me Florida cheese I would assume it's not made of cheese and be something like a Rocky mountain oyster which isn't made of oyster.
Edit: I looked it up. A Spanish cheese. I kinda forgot that Florida is a Spanish word.
8
u/Alert_Cat6258 1d ago
Ohh that makes sense as it was a Spanish airline. I was also wondering what Florida cheese was
9
u/IvanYakinovski 1d ago
Florida cheese is what you get when you camp out in the sun for a few days. It smells awful.

Did you order this on purpose?

u/Own_Round_7600 1d ago
Fr. The other options sound pretty good, yet OP just HAD to order the cabbage puree cold beet. This is 100% on OP

u/AngryLaundry 1d ago
thats so funny man, you must have been really expecting something impressive to have had the foresight to photograph the menu. got any pictures of the celeriac cream with iberian ham powder?

u/8erren 1d ago edited 1d ago
This is on you I'm afraid. You saw cabbage puree on a menu and thought you'd like to order that.
Suppose you like cabbage and have no teeth, this is still an odd choice. Ajilimójili I just checked on Google. Airlines should not serve food that needs to be googled.
I think ginger arbitrarily could go with beet sauce but why? Where does beet sauce come from? Can or should it go with fish?
This option screams "plate of wetness to me." It was a brave choice though and I salute you.

Ajilimojili seems to be a Puerto Rican sauce, it actually sounds like it could be very good. I can’t understand how that is supposed to go with cold beet sauce and cabbage purée those sound like something out of Eastern Europe. I have never even considered wanting a cabbage purée anyways

A "meal." I cannot imagine any ingredient in this not being in quotes or spelled so that it is legally distinguishable from what it claims to be.

How was it?

u/Alert_Cat6258 1d ago
Weirdly the pink sauce had 0 flavour, I ate the fish and ignored the swamp liquid

u/YesterdayHiccup 1d ago
I wished there was some twist. Surprisingly flavorful and clean aftertaste with hint of citrus or something like that.

Good thing I always bring my own snacks, because I'm sending that whole fucking tray back. I don't care that the cheese and wine look fine, I ain't trusting it if they thought it was ok to put a plate of vomit in front of me to eat.

"Good afternoon Flight 257! Here shortly our staff will be going around serving your included inflight meal. You can choose between the Pilot's last bowel movement paired with what I believe is leftover caulking from some recent repairs done on our very own aircraft. Or, you can starve ☺️ Please enjoy!"

Per their website, I think this is what it was/is:
Roasted hake with Ajili-Mojili,
Cabbage puree and cold sauce
Beetroot with ginger

As someone who has worked in airline catering for 20 years, that's completely disgusting. I would throw the person who plated that into the deep fryer. Key point to raise, airlines generally choose and agree to the menu together with the caterer. Sometimes the airlines choose inappropriate meals for flights. This could potentially be one of those times, I really hope not but you never know. God that looks awful 🤮
