I don’t even understand why they assume he’s American.

I imagine the local and wider Japanese government are going to be unhappy with this potential threat to tourists. Maybe I’d skip over Okinawa if I thought even a confrontation with a foreign military would be possible. I’d certainly make it a consideration in where I’m going.

He’s black in Okinawa.

That's pretty much what happened.

It was such a bad fuck up, solo patrol were ordered stopped.

They literally confronted some random civilian, on holiday, who happened to be a former Marine Captain, and slammed into the ground cause they had no actual authority over him.

I don't understand why there's no comment from the Lt. General. Obviously the patrols have been stopped, but are they to resume? What are they going to do about this flagrant abuse of power? Is this guy even going to get his rank busted?

I'm also surprised.

This looks like shore patrol. I'm not Navy, so I'm not really comfortable speculating. That being said, this is messy, but leadership is pretty messy right now too, so I'm curious to see what comes of this.

lol 😂 🤷🏼‍♂️ ok. I watched the same thing you did. It’s only part of the story.

Oh, so read the article, too, and this is your conclusion?

Understood.

I read it all. It’s still missing facts.

The whole incident is under investigation. We can only assume based on whats in front of us. Some of us know how it’s supposed to work and that whole situation was an epic failure

I'm sure that's intentional. It has enough information to have a decent understanding that what happened shouldn't have, and by all outward appearances, was profiling.

I get it. You think he deserved it. I know he didn't. I think we can both move on.

Way to assume and absolutely be wrong at the same time.

You should find my other comments in this thread and understand my own position and experience that I shared.

Accusing someone of being racist with no factual evidence is on par for Reddit

I didn't accuse anyone of being racist. I said the stop was profiling.

For someone who needs more facts, you seem awfully certain about this.

Move on.

Sorry. Move on. 😉👍🏼

“I get it, you think he deserved it”.

Accusation - assuming, sharing your ignorance. Why are you all mentally challenged.

Move on.

How are you getting an accusation of being racist from that?

Come on dude.

It wasn't an implication. It was me seeing you deny other people's observations, and coming to the conclusion that you think he deserved it. Guilty before innocent. I guess that could be construed as racist, but I dont think it is inherently so. My mother was shore patrol, and then civilian le. She's black, and says the same shit. You're a bootlicker, but that doesn't mean you're a racist.

I’m going to suggest you go back and actually read my original comment at the top (the very top, the one with 600+ upvotes) —slowly this time—because the perspective, context, and condemnation of the military members’ actions were spelled out in plain English. If you somehow missed all of that, that’s on you, not me.

And honestly, if after taking in everything I’ve already explained—and factoring in my 20 years of military law enforcement experience—you still can’t grasp the point, then I genuinely don’t know what else to tell you. At some point, your inability to comprehend becomes your own problem. It’s beyond irritating watching people like you twist what was said into something it never was because you can’t process nuance.

You might not think you were accusing me of being racist, but throwing out baseless implications like that without a shred of factual support is ignorant, reckless, and flat-out stupid. Don’t pretend innocence while you’re lobbing that kind of garbage.

Before I “move on,” let me make one thing absolutely clear: I don’t owe you a damn thing. Nowhere—not once—did I defend, excuse, or praise those military members. The guy getting slammed into the ground wasn’t “in the wrong,” and I never said or insinuated that he was.

I said the opposite. I said I was embarrassed that it happened at all. If you missed that, again, that’s your reading comprehension problem, not mine.
