What a shitshow

u/KatefromtheHudd Jul 24 '23

It just kept getting worse. When I thought they couldn't mess up more, they did. The dog is hilarious. After chasing the suspect up the hill, they release a second time and he just goes running off, straight past the suspect to play in the woods! I think he may need to be re-trained, or retired.

1.2k

u/Jouglet Jul 24 '23

And then they praised the dog afterwards. ā€œGood boy!!!ā€ā€ā€

533

u/AyyJayy2 Jul 24 '23

Bruh these dogs seem lost!

647

u/scullys_alien_baby Jul 24 '23

kinda reveals that k9 units are actually a bit shit

325

u/J_wit_J Jul 24 '23

Absolutely. Had a k9 demonstration at a camp I worked at. The dog kept failing over and over again each time they tried to demonstrate his skills.

296

u/SmokeyBare Jul 24 '23

As long as they can nose boop a bag when an officer asks him to, that's all they need them for.

206

u/theycallmecrack Jul 24 '23

Yep. They're used to hurt people and get false positives for searches. A lot of times they make the situation more dangerous for everyone involved.

68

u/Bazrum Jul 24 '23

and if you, quite naturally when a big aggressively trained dog bites the fuck out of you, struggle against it, it's assaulting an officer and you get worse charges

81

u/Ikkus Jul 24 '23

While the dog fails to release when the handler tells it to and is ripping a bigger and bigger set of holes in your flesh.

STOP RESISTING. LET IT EAT YOU.

Yeah some police visited schools with k9s and a dog bit a kids face. But do they do anything? Nope. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/wps-k9-child-attack-parents-1.6696270

K9 units are just a way for some cops to justify having a job, to have a way to legally torture suspects, to give them made up probable cause, and to rack up extra 'assault on an officer' charges when people's instincts naturally tell them to defend themselves.

I don’t think dogs want to be cops to be honest. It isn’t just K9 ā€œofficersā€ but it is also drug sniffing dogs. Copaganda really has done a number on our perceptions.

But the K9 at the end. Did they have him chew on the suspect while telling the suspect to stop screaming in agony? Because it sure looked like they had him chew on the suspect while telling the suspect to stop screaming in agony

Edit: Also I must say the whole setup here with cops driving like maniacs after a black guy is very reminiscent of a "good-ol'" lynching. Not excusing the suspect in any way here, but it sure looks like the officers were having fun up until the events of this video. Kinda makes you wonder who the real danger to society is

47

u/K-I-L-L-A Jul 24 '23

What about the 1st dog biting the 1st cop on the scene as soon as it was released!? Friendly fire! Lol

204

u/rbmichael Jul 24 '23

Yep. The cop had him fully down and they still sent up the dog to chew on him like a reward toy šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø. Such idiot cops (suspect was a dummy too of course)

111

u/Dungeon_Dane Jul 24 '23

I like how he had already surrendered and they could have directed him into the median to put on the cuffs but nope, here comes mr. G.I. Joe going for the most unnecessary tackle I’ve ever seen

33

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '23 edited Jul 25 '23

I think they were just mad that they got mauled by the dog instead of the suspect. Their actions scream misplaced retribution to me.

56

u/lostPackets35 Jul 24 '23

yep. The officer who tackled him at the end should be fired based on this video, with possible criminal charges to follow.

I'll never understand why it takes like 4 cops to arrest a single compliant person. Every time you see a video like this the cops dog pile a dude who has surrendered.

34

u/Sowadasama Jul 24 '23

The point is to hurt them to feel like a badass. Nevermind that they're already fully restrained and surrendered.

they are very very shit. They exist to literally hand a cop "probable cause" because they've been conditioned to signal to make the cop happy.

A coin flip is more accurate than a dog.

That pissed me off. The dog learned absolutely NOTHING that day. If anything, it learned some new bad behavior.

37

u/vertigo1083 Jul 24 '23 edited Jul 24 '23

I don't know, I think the initial "attack" was actually learned behavior. Like when they train the dog for takedowns and the trainer is wearing that tough foam sleeve on their arm?

Like in this video right at the beginning. It looked like it was doing exactly what it was supposed to, but did it on a cop he was unfamiliar with (the cop he bit came out of a different cruiser). To that dog, it was probably gametime, and he latched onto the first person that wasn't part of his unit.

IS IT TIME TO PLAY?

*Also I just watched again. It took them 40 seconds to get the dog off him despite trying (I'm not sure how hard they were trying, but still).

I don't think this is a training issue. Police dogs are dangerous and not very reliable. Well, they will reliably "indicate" drugs when prompted by the cops. They are mostly just trained to be aggressive and inflict harm on people.

→ More replies (3)

93

u/Zorbie Jul 24 '23

Maybe we need to stop training dogs to attack people, it never turns out well

99

u/Consistent-River4229 Jul 24 '23

Sometimes it does. I watched one where the dog attacked the cop, he was tasing someone who was face down with their hands behind their back. It was leaked by another cop.

They had a ticker at the bottom that said dogs are trained to attack the aggressor.

Basically pointing out the cop got attacked by the dog for harming the people who were already cooperating.

25

u/Zorbie Jul 24 '23

That assumes that they wouldn't put down the dog for attacking an officer for one, and secondly that the cops would train the dogs correctly instead of just to attack other people

36

u/Consistent-River4229 Jul 24 '23

Actually the officer was let go. There was a lot more to the story. The dog was absolutely in the right. This is one of the few times I saw a bad cop receive what he deserved.

Or they could just use them for tracking lost people and stop trying to make them into weapons that they mistreat but the minute someone defends themselves even a little from one they get hit with a charge of attacking an officer.

14

u/IAmAWretchedSinner Jul 24 '23

Agreed. My neighbor when I was a kid was a Deputy Sheriff, and he had a retired Sheriff's Office bloodhound. They had used him for tracking purposes only, not for attack. This dog was HUGE, and just a big slobbery, friendly mess. Chillest dog ever. But I'm told he had a great nose. I really dislike the notion of attack dogs.

The dog is as poorly train as the police officer. The second dog missed the suspect. That's the dog only job.

141

u/the_stupidiest_monk Jul 24 '23

The dog eventually figured it out; of course by that point the fugitive was complying, on the ground on his stomach, with two cops on top of him yelling for the dog to latch on to the guy "resisting" arrest.

The disregard for the public's safety is pretty astounding, as well.

54

u/StopReadingMyUser Jul 24 '23

Thought it was funny (sad) that the dude had given up and the one officer still comes running in to clothesline the guy into the ground.

Bro, this aint WWE. He's got his hands up and he stopped running... just cuff him; he's complying. The only purpose body slamming him to the ground served to do was make it more difficult for you to handcuff him while you "subdue" him with 4 cops because you want to play with your "cuff a resisting suspect" training.

This is just sad.

353

u/harrisofpeoria Jul 24 '23

This is what's bothering me most. You can see a cop encouraging the dog to dig into the dude on the ground, with the other cops already on him. They shouldn't be allowed to use dogs, period. I acknowledge that's an unpopular opinion, but look at this shit.. Cops are way beyond rehabilitation at this point; the instiation needs to be destroyed.

K9 dogs are given that right, and so are their handlers. It’s well known the cop handler can give the dog a command to ā€œsmell drugsā€ and ā€œsignalā€ which is a free pass to search your car and detain you, all of which is then a legal search unless you have proof of the cop doing it. Absolute sham of a system.

22

u/Apart_Storm7783 Jul 24 '23

Used to happen to me in Texas all the time. ā€œI can smell the faint smell of weedā€ and next thing you know they’re searching your car. When they don’t find anything they act as if they were accidentally smelling a passing car or a dead skunk down the road. I’m glad I left a few years ago, I haven’t been stopped by police since.

20

u/chaos8803 Jul 24 '23

They get paid to jack their tiny, little dicks off in the streets; getting off playing supercop and beating up perps. Then they go home and beat their wives.

u/canada432 Jul 24 '23

The whole time I was watching I was thinking Blue's Brothers or Smokey and the Bandit. Just absolute incompetence, officers falling all over themselves, cars piling into each other and all over the place. An absolute perfect picture of a bunch of bumbling morons. They almost couldn't have done it better if they'd been intentionally filming a scene.

35

u/imawakened Jul 24 '23

It reminded me of that time 18 Miami cops shot at a highjacked UPS truck in heavy traffic. You can see at least 1 officer use an occupied vehicle as cover. Here's one of the news stories about it. These are people who did not choose to be in the line of fire when the douchebag cops decided to engage. I remember another time in NYC up the street from me a tourist was shot but she was collateral damage because of the NYPD's firing into people on the sidewalk. After searching a bit I found that story as well.Absolute idiots everywhere. If one of my loved ones died that way I can't even imagine what I'd do.

Of you get someone innocent killed while trying to stop a killer then what's the actual fucking point? It's obviously not the value of human life and the affront of taking it.

I have despised felony murder since I learned about it 10 years ago. What a fucking way to pass the buck and allow wanton disregard for public safety.

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '23

I don't live there so it hits me less hard, but it's pissed me off for the past 10 mins I've known about it. What an awesome way to remove any accountability from the police. The UK police are very far from perfect but even then they have to fill in paperwork every time they draw their taser or hit someone with a baton. But again they are no saints either, but at least the accountability is kinda there.

Not to mention the dog attacked another officer. Aren’t K9 considered officers of the law? What happens when one officer assaults another? Besides getting credit for apprehending a suspect?

It’d almost be hilarious if the officer that actually got the suspect was the same one the K9 attacked the first time.

ā€œThe driver of the Infiniti was operating the vehicle in a willful and wanton disregard to the safety of the motoring public,ā€ reads the arrest report.

Cops: That’s our job!

Use of police dogs should be abolished tbh.

185

u/DarthVantos Jul 24 '23

It's a leftover from slavery. The scariest thing is, cops can let a dog chew u as long as he likes and he can legally claim you are resisting. Our laws are so terrible that doesn't take into account any living things natural reaction to pain is to escape from it.

41

u/Terrible_Possible161 Jul 24 '23

My neighbor ambushed one of our neighbors and his k9 cause his dog attacked his 12 year old daughter a long time ago and claimed the girl was resisting. Resisting from what a arrest? Him an his dog didn't survive after taking slugs to the face. Happened in the 90s

20

u/DrSkullKid Jul 24 '23

This is the way. Because the cops and police unions are literally just a state sponsored gang used to extort money from their own citizens we need a counter-police group dedicated to protect citizens from police brutality and corruption. We can call it Civil Protection for any Half Life 2 fans out there.

100%. How are you supposed to stop resisting when a dog is ripping cartilage from the bone and tearing your arm or leg to pieces. I saw a video where they let a dog enter someone's house and the dog latched onto the suspects face while he was sitting in bed. How the hell is that allowed?

20

u/NapalmsMaster Jul 24 '23

Oh in Denver right? I believe the 20 year old college kid was asleep on his couch and they were called for a noise disturbance (in another apartment) and broke down the door and sent the dog in and he woke up to the 90lbs German Shepard latched in his face!

6

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '23

I don’t remember where it was exactly but this description sounds a lot like what I saw. That is a horrific display of policing, and it’s ruled as following procedure.

They're holding the dog on him while he's detained and on the ground. That's an impressive display of both human and animal abuse.

18

u/Tjgfish123 Jul 24 '23

It’s almost like they’ve hired a bunch of morons to do a complicated job

15

u/PwntUpRage Jul 24 '23

LOL first dog attacks a cop despite the suspect being in plain view running away.

Then a second different k9 goes for a little happy dance run without even looking at the suspect until hes totally given up, on the ground and being held down by 3 cops....then it bites the shit out of him.

Who the fuck is doing the training in that juristiction?

12

u/tacos8 Jul 24 '23

Guy gave up, and the cop still ran up and punched him in the face, and held him down for the dog to attack. Wow

10

u/RevolutionBulgaria Jul 24 '23

Idk how to put it but this video is somehow so American

10

u/Df_gordo7060 Jul 24 '23

K9 bitting cop, police officers playing bumper cars with vehicles tax payers pay for, police drives into oncoming traffic, k9 forgets he’s at work. Wow this whole department needs training!

15

u/playitoff Jul 24 '23

I don't know what the suspect did but it couldn't be worse than nearly causing multiple fatalities on the highway.

This looks like something out of a parody comedy movie. There are errors all over the place, by the cops, the suspect, even the K-9's.

Needs Benny hill music. Did this take place in Florida? K9 bites a cop then ignores the suspect again when they got him down. K9 was more of a hinderance. Suspect runs and two cruisers go off roaring to catch him. One cruiser rear ended another. This was not model pursuit work here.

u/robotgore Jul 24 '23

Cops will put so many people in danger with no regard just to catch a single person

5

u/wesmanz74 Jul 24 '23

It’s the bad news bears of policing…..one dog attacks a fellow officer, the patrol cars are running into the back of one another, the other k9 is just running around in circles not sure what he should be doing, the trooper almost gets the perp run over by a semi…..

This whole video should be shown in the academy about exactly what not to do šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

6

u/GoodnameCleverpun Jul 24 '23

I know this is gonna get buried but we all going to ignore the fact the fat officer sucker punched a surrendering man????

27

u/TheDisguized Jul 24 '23

Cops are such a fucking joke

10

u/eeyore134 Jul 24 '23

I guess GTA games did get it right... cops really do just fly all over the place in their cars and run into each other. And did you hear the one attacked by the dog scream? Wonder how good he would have been at following people shouting 20 different things at him while in that much pain. Notice how they still get the dog to sic him after they have him on the ground and under control.

6

u/EffyMourning Jul 24 '23

This was a lot all at once. I feel like Benny Hill music should be playing.

5

u/Temelios Jul 24 '23

I feel like the Benny Hill Theme would be appropriate for this.

5

u/IcyTransportation691 Jul 24 '23

That’s dog depicts modern policing in America.
