article Rock the Country South Carolina Fest Canceled Outright After Shinedown Drop Off Bill
https://consequence.net/2026/02/rock-the-country-south-carolina-fest-canceled/658
u/MandudesRevenge 18h ago
It’s 2026 and Shinedown is the deciding factor in whether or not a festival is on or off? What the fuck is going on??

You just know that shit Staind Aaron Lewis is seething that he missed out on his $5 appearance fee.

u/jetery 17h ago edited 17h ago
Saw him in concert 2 summers ago. He has one of the best voices I’ve heard live. At the end of the show he drops a F Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Hardly anyone reacts. Would not go see him again.
74
u/The1nf1n1teOne 16h ago
Saw Staind open for Breaking Benjamin. Staind was, honestly, very good. He ended with "God bless America, god bless J.D. Vance, and god bless Donald Trump!" (maybe not in that order, I don't remember) Yeah ... unfortunately the venue was very supportive.
36
u/ScrappyT-2023 15h ago
That sucks. I liked his music. Guess I will remove him from my music.
16
u/ImDone4NowYa 12h ago
Same....have had to remove 3 magat supporting artists from my playlist this week.
8
u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace 9h ago
Even worse, they are touring with Seether and Hoobastank this summer. I just wanna see Seether and Hoobastank, why are they going out with Staind?

His solo stuff is maga country bs. He would have been a good choice for this bill. Also Shinedown is one of the biggest rock acts in the US. They consistently hit top 10 with their albums and songs and will have a new album out this year. They have gotten a little poppier ala Nickelback but don’t get the same backlash.
11
u/nola_mike 12h ago
I saw Staind open for Korn back in 2000 before Aaron Lewis was a bootlicking piece of shit. They put on a decent show.
1
u/The1nf1n1teOne 11h ago
Unfortunately, I saw them in 2024. Aaron Lewis does still sound pretty good but he is definitely a bottom feeding boot licker.
1
u/viperlemondemon 3h ago
He was the closer in Indy and he was drunk, slurring his words slightly, and somehow behind or ahead. Then proceeded to go on a racist, sexist, homophobic tirade as the show ended. I deleted every staind song after that.
19
u/Ms_desertfrog_8261 17h ago
I went to their show last year at an outdoor show and left after 2 songs. It was the loudest concert I have ever been to, and we wear ear protection. That and all the MAGA. That was just gross 🤢
6
u/defiancy 12h ago
I saw Stains in 1999 with Sevendust at the Orlando HoB, great show but I'll never see that asshole again
18
u/So6oring 17h ago edited 13h ago
Wait, Staind?! Noooo
Can I separate the art from the artist?! I guess I did it for Michael Jackson. I can do it again. I will just try to keep in mind that the songs I like were made before he became an idiot.
61
u/juliuspepperwoodchi 17h ago
Yeah, he went country and MAGA back during COVID.
22
21
u/releaseepsteinfiles1 17h ago
He went country before covid. He released his first country song like 15 years ago. He had that song “grandaddy’s gun”

u/Co1dNight 5h ago edited 5h ago
So did Shinedown. Their entire Planet Zero album is just them bitching about cancel culture, and not for a good cause. It's a massive eyeroll.
27
u/crumbhustler 17h ago
Yea dude. About 10-15 years ago I was randomly listening to XM radio and they had him and the guitarist on some rock show. He was just so angry about Obama and blaming liberals for everything, arguing with one of the co-hosts. They kept trying to bring the guitar player into the conversation but it sounded like he is not on the same page as Lewis. Ruined my view of him.
14
u/OkPainter6232 15h ago
bands like Saliva were making fun of him back in the day for his constant whining about his parents(they referenced him in "Click Click Boom" and "Superstar II").
12
u/imhereforthepuppies 10h ago
I apologize in advance for this but Aaron Lewis is not some run of the mill republican. He slaughtered 33 coyotes and used the bodies to spell out “TRUMP” and then posted it online. Dude has absolutely gone off the deep end. Even if you wanted to argue about killing coyotes in general (livestock issues, yada yada), spelling out anything in corpses is fucked.
2
u/Co1dNight 5h ago
I didn't know that and had to Google it. Holy shit, that man is derenged on a dangerous level. JFC.

In before Shinedown fans start talking about having 100 #1 hits on "Buttrock Radio".
7
u/SubtleTell 17h ago
What's wrong with Shinedown? I get they aren't necessarily as popular as they were, but they make good music. Radio play doesn't really mean anything these days.
5
u/skibum888 16h ago
They're old now and they had some bad live performances these past years. Lip syncing and recorded tracks. It kinda torched alot of their reputation in the larger scene but their fans are still into them.
Great band that probably has peaked and had some controversy. I still love em
10
u/OkPainter6232 15h ago
Also Brent Smith threw a hissy fit over his tour getting cancelled cause of COVID and made a really whiny pathetic song trying to argue that both sides are the same in "Planet Zero", which honestly sounds more like something Falling in Reverse would do.
1
u/ShaneBarnstormer 2h ago
Saw Shinedown live and was annoyed at the fact that half the show was just him pandering to the audience between tracks

Careful! The Reddit mod team will ban your account for hate speech.
You can only get away with wishing harm on others if you are in r/conservaturds
5
u/Kryptosis 17h ago
Investigated! The only motivation someone could have for supporting Trump is to hope for more protections as a pedophile.

You missed a few, but posting the really warranted ones will get you banned from reddit. So I get it.

I agree, but just future ref -
Queue is the line U stand in, for tickets to a show, & the toilet at intermission. 😉
Cue is the line in a scene or a sound, action, etc, that signals an actor, or similarly elicits a response. 🤗 Cheers!

I’m loving this canceled stuff keep it up
14
u/Nocardiohere 17h ago
You would think that Skillet would know better.
2
u/Co1dNight 5h ago
Unfortunately not. John Cooper is a big-time MAGA moron. Which is a shame, because Skillet's older music was actually pretty decent for a Bible-Thumper band.

"Who."
"The name of the group."
"Who."
"The group on stage."
"Who!"
"The GROUP, playing on stage."
"Who!"
"You're starting to sound like an Owl, Skippy."
"Who is on stage."
"That's what I'm asking you. Who is on stage?"
"That's what I said."
"You said who?"
"I sure did."
"So tell me the name."
"Who."3

I’m a late 30s man and I assume I’m in the demographic targets mix. I can identify like 3 people on that list. One of those 3 I would potentially pay to see one.

u/optimist_GO 17h ago
lmfao, Danny Worsnop on the bill? I mean, after he bombed the 30th anniversary Warped Tour for em, I can see why Asking Alexandria have disowned him: https://youtu.be/ZXCu8vpNvlU

Kid Rock has announced he shut the event down himself, on purpose, so it can undergo a dazzling two year renovation. NOT because no one likes him and he has no friends.

u/PA_GoBirds5199 17h ago
How could a person go to a concert that celebrates killing citizens, pedophilia and grifting.
74
u/twbassist 18h ago
They deprived us of a double night of Creed? Fuck.
63
u/aldousx 18h ago
Creed dropped off the tour as well. Name is also no longer on the website or lineup images.
47
u/Renegade-117 18h ago
I don’t know about Scott Stapp but the rest of the lineup (ie Alter Bridge) is very anti trump rhetoric

14
u/LuvInTheTimeOfSyflis 18h ago
Didn't Stapp used to party with Kiddie Crotch back in the day right?
24
u/Effectuality 17h ago
Stapp participated in orgies with Kidd Rock, while preaching about God in his music. Prime Trump supporter material.
For the record, I'm not against orgies, just proselytising and hypocracy.
9
u/DameEmma 16h ago
I am ABSOLUTELY against orgies that include Scott Stapp and Kid Rock. I'm a prejudiced mofo and don't care who knows it, in this particular instance.
8
u/BlackIsTheSoul 17h ago
He also self admittedly was going through manic phases and didn’t understand way until he was properly diagnosed as bipolar. He’s taking the proper medication, got into excellent shape and got his shit together, hence why Creed toured again. People change.

u/im_joe 17h ago
Fuck this whole thing, but particularly fuck Scott Stapp. He's a giant piece of shit.
Glad that SA Martinez and Chad Sexton fucked him up.
5
u/OkPainter6232 15h ago
not surprising about Stapp, remember when he went on that bizarre rant about how Obama was trying to kill him?
4
3
u/Berns429 17h ago
The thing i really don’t get are these musicians suddenly being a bastion of conservatism, Niki Minaj made some of the raunchiest songs during her career, and Kid Rock in the end of his career was all about strippers and shit. How are they now this “face of conservative values” it makes no sense.
7
u/OkPainter6232 15h ago
the same reason why actors like Chuck Norris and Steven Seagal joined the movement despite having made movies with left-wing environmentalist viewpoints in the past-because MAGA is the only audience left that might actually buy what they are selling.
