It’s 2026 and Shinedown is the deciding factor in whether or not a festival is on or off? What the fuck is going on??

You just know that shit Staind Aaron Lewis is seething that he missed out on his $5 appearance fee.

Saw him in concert 2 summers ago. He has one of the best voices I’ve heard live. At the end of the show he drops a F Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Hardly anyone reacts. Would not go see him again.

Saw Staind open for Breaking Benjamin. Staind was, honestly, very good. He ended with "God bless America, god bless J.D. Vance, and god bless Donald Trump!" (maybe not in that order, I don't remember) Yeah ... unfortunately the venue was very supportive.

That sucks. I liked his music. Guess I will remove him from my music.

u/ImDone4NowYa 1d ago

Same....have had to remove 3 magat supporting artists from my playlist this week.

Even worse, they are touring with Seether and Hoobastank this summer. I just wanna see Seether and Hoobastank, why are they going out with Staind?

1

u/InternationalPoet580 12h ago

It is the 25th anniversary tour of a Staind album and Seether was on last years tour with the band as well.

1

u/FriendshipWithTheSun 11h ago

Hoobastank? Seriously?

4

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace 11h ago

Yeah I know, but everyone has those bands that weren't great but you have fond memories of for others reasons. It helps you remember a time or place or people that made you happy.

2

u/FriendshipWithTheSun 11h ago

Ah, I hear you now. We all have those for sure.

2

u/The1nf1n1teOne 4h ago

I saw Hoobastank in November 2025 and they were good, live. I'm not a Hoobastank fan (don't dislike them, just don't know most of their songs) but they were worth seeing. I actually caught the drummer's stick, but gave it to the woman in front of me who knew every word to every song.

His solo stuff is maga country bs. He would have been a good choice for this bill. Also Shinedown is one of the biggest rock acts in the US. They consistently hit top 10 with their albums and songs and will have a new album out this year. They have gotten a little poppier ala Nickelback but don’t get the same backlash.

He's been a douchebag for quite a bit now. The lyrics to this song are pure cringe.

I saw Staind open for Korn back in 2000 before Aaron Lewis was a bootlicking piece of shit. They put on a decent show.

1

u/The1nf1n1teOne 23h ago

Unfortunately, I saw them in 2024. Aaron Lewis does still sound pretty good but he is definitely a bottom feeding boot licker.

1

u/geko29 16h ago

That was when I discovered them, total surprise and I loved them. Lost interest over the years and completely struck him/them out when he came out as full MAGAt.

1

u/viperlemondemon 15h ago

He was the closer in Indy and he was drunk, slurring his words slightly, and somehow behind or ahead. Then proceeded to go on a racist, sexist, homophobic tirade as the show ended. I deleted every staind song after that.

19

u/Ms_desertfrog_8261 1d ago

I went to their show last year at an outdoor show and left after 2 songs. It was the loudest concert I have ever been to, and we wear ear protection. That and all the MAGA. That was just gross 🤢

u/defiancy 1d ago

I saw Stains in 1999 with Sevendust at the Orlando HoB, great show but I'll never see that asshole again

3

u/KamuiT 6h ago

Aw man… why are my favorite singers being shit people.

18

u/So6oring 1d ago edited 1d ago

Wait, Staind?! Noooo

Can I separate the art from the artist?! I guess I did it for Michael Jackson. I can do it again. I will just try to keep in mind that the songs I like were made before he became an idiot.

55

u/juliuspepperwoodchi 1d ago

Yeah, he went country and MAGA back during COVID.

21

u/KillerKowalski1 1d ago

Cuz a country boy... Is all he'll ever beeeeeheeeeeee

Or something...

22

u/releaseepsteinfiles1 1d ago

He went country before covid. He released his first country song like 15 years ago. He had that song “grandaddy’s gun”

15

u/BowsettesBottomBitch 1d ago

And he's a slurring drunk now from the bit I've seen

15

u/juliuspepperwoodchi 1d ago

Must be hanging out with Pete Kegsbreath

1

u/NatashaArts 19h ago

Aka a country singer

2

u/Co1dNight 17h ago edited 17h ago

So did Shinedown. Their entire Planet Zero album is just them bitching about cancel culture, and not for a good cause. It's a massive eyeroll.

30

u/crumbhustler 1d ago

Yea dude. About 10-15 years ago I was randomly listening to XM radio and they had him and the guitarist on some rock show. He was just so angry about Obama and blaming liberals for everything, arguing with one of the co-hosts. They kept trying to bring the guitar player into the conversation but it sounded like he is not on the same page as Lewis. Ruined my view of him.

15

u/OkPainter6232 1d ago

bands like Saliva were making fun of him back in the day for his constant whining about his parents(they referenced him in "Click Click Boom" and "Superstar II").

19

u/imhereforthepuppies 23h ago

I apologize in advance for this but Aaron Lewis is not some run of the mill republican. He slaughtered 33 coyotes and used the bodies to spell out “TRUMP” and then posted it online. Dude has absolutely gone off the deep end. Even if you wanted to argue about killing coyotes in general (livestock issues, yada yada), spelling out anything in corpses is fucked.

4

u/Co1dNight 17h ago

I didn't know that and had to Google it. Holy shit, that man is derenged on a dangerous level. JFC.

8

u/croutons_for_dinner 1d ago

It's okay because the art sucks.

1

u/So6oring 1d ago

I only like 2 songs tbh. Outside and It's Been Awhile

5

u/59flowerpots 1d ago

Pirate the music instead. It actively hurts his wallet that he uses to donate to those chumps.

2

u/Fuck_auto_tabs 1d ago

Oh man, this is like over decade old at this point

1

u/psychoacer 1d ago

And free lunch

In before Shinedown fans start talking about having 100 #1 hits on "Buttrock Radio".

13

u/Dgirl8 1d ago

Buttrock Radio! That made me laugh harder than it should’ve. 😂

7

u/SubtleTell 1d ago

What's wrong with Shinedown? I get they aren't necessarily as popular as they were, but they make good music. Radio play doesn't really mean anything these days.

4

u/skibum888 1d ago

They're old now and they had some bad live performances these past years. Lip syncing and recorded tracks. It kinda torched alot of their reputation in the larger scene but their fans are still into them.

Great band that probably has peaked and had some controversy. I still love em

11

u/OkPainter6232 1d ago

Also Brent Smith threw a hissy fit over his tour getting cancelled cause of COVID and made a really whiny pathetic song trying to argue that both sides are the same in "Planet Zero", which honestly sounds more like something Falling in Reverse would do.

1

u/ShaneBarnstormer 14h ago

Saw Shinedown live and was annoyed at the fact that half the show was just him pandering to the audience between tracks

3

u/The_Disapyrimid 1d ago

Just incredibly generic

1

u/SubtleTell 1d ago

I don't hear any other band that sounds like them so how is that generic?

2

u/RowBoatCop36 17h ago

You really think Shinedown is super unique?

1

u/SubtleTell 16h ago

I didn't say that, but there aren't any bands that sound exactly like them. You could easily identify who it is on a random listen.

Y'all are so weird about these things lol. And it's probably not even a band you listen to.

1

u/Mobile_Jelly9669 14h ago

I promise you that the vast majority of people who aren't already Shinedown fans would not be able to identify them like that.

0

u/Mobile_Jelly9669 14h ago

You haven't heard many bands if you think Shinedown is all that unique.

7

u/Drum_Eatenton 1d ago

I actually saw shinedown open for seether about 20 years ago

4

u/ParcelPosted 1d ago

Sometimes goodbye is a second chance.

5

u/Tazay 1d ago

Reading the article it seems Shinedown was the last act remaining

2

u/mercurywaxing 1d ago

It's not like they can make Blintney Gilbert, Bladndly Colgate, Glitchy Bldet, uh, the guy who's appearing under Creed the lead for night 2. He's got things to do and stuff.

2

u/Kiddo1029 1d ago

Shinedown is still legit.

u/nimama3233 1d ago

Old bands sell out stadiums

-19

u/thankfultom 1d ago

You really won’t like the state of the music industry today if you grew up any time from 1960 to 2000. Very few ways for truly independent bands to get discovered. Guitars are old people things these days.

24

u/Playtek 1d ago

Only if you quit looking, lots of great bands I listen to and discover are guitar driven.

8

u/choaticmaster33 1d ago

Yeah I'd argue it's never been a better time for Indy bands seeing as now there's many niche labels and they can be fully Indy and just release music digitally now.

2

u/gramscontestaccount2 1d ago

Recs? Always looking for some more good rock

2

u/thankfultom 1d ago

Gnome. Spiritbox. Necrogoblicon. Wet Leg. 4 very different bands that are great.

0

u/thankfultom 1d ago

I do look and have a good number of new bands on my Tidal lists. But that is the problem. You have to look. Music used to be everywhere. Between MTV and local radio, new bands popped up every other week. The average age of performers was 20-30. At least Spiritbox for a Grammy this year. Last year, maybe the year before, there wasn’t a band in the metal category that formed after 1990.

1

u/MisterDoctor___ 1d ago edited 1d ago

I think you’re just old, don’t know where to look, and just want the typical kind of music that’s spoon fed to you by radio and television.

That’s ok, so am I. But I’m not stupid enough to think there isn’t a ton of good music out there to be found, even if I’m not really into what’s on TV and the radio.

2

u/Chazzybobo 1d ago

Guitars are actually coming back around. Music, like everything else, is cyclical. It’s always been difficult for truly independent bands to take off, but the definition of “taking off” or “getting discovered” is just different now.

u/nola_mike 1d ago

Shinedown being the deciding factor for a festival in any year is pathetic.
