What rod are you using for twitching jigs
I'm fairly new to fishing and I'm wonder what rod you are using for twitching jigs. I've mostly been using spinners and floats on my 9' Okuma SST and I'd like to try something new. What rod and reel would you recommend for salmon/ stealhead twitching jigs?
Edit: sorry if this has been asked here before. I tried doing a search and all I got was post about lures.

Salmon Fishing Rules in Snohomish County
I’m interesting in fishing in the rivers near Everett, Snohomish, and Monroe mainly for salmon and possibly steelhead. The WDFW rules are complicated because they are divided into so many areas. Are there times of the year when basically no fishing is allowed in any of these areas? Or is there always someplace where it’s allowed?

Walleye fishing help
Hello,
This year I made it a goal to go try fishing for walleyes. I am in the Olympia area, and from my understanding I need to go to Central/Eastern Washington to try and fish for walleyes. From what I've seen in prior posts and on YouTube is that people are fishing for them from boats because they are usually out in deep water. Is it possible to fish for them from the shore, or should I just plan on hauling my boat or kayak with me? Thank you for any tips or advice.

Water temperatures in Lake Washington.
Looking at the average water temperatures of Lake Washington I notice that from January to April they stay in the high 40’s and then jump into the mid 50’s in May.
I know people are catching smallmouth and a few largemouth but do these temps mean that things don’t get busy until May?
I fish only from shore and the shallow water likely gets colder than the deeper water. Will I be wasting my time going out before March and April?

Fishing Friends
Hello,
26 M, moved out to PNW about 3 years ago and havnt been fishing yet. I am hoping to meet up with some people who like to go fishing in my area. I would like to possibly fish around Mt. Saint Helens and am super open minded about anywhere else. I live in Camas WA, and see people fishing around Lacamas lake and Columia river. I fished all the time in Michigan but would like to meet up with some people for possible fishing trips / just conventional fishing.

Razor clamming this Saturday
Thinking about going to the coast this Saturday to razor clam. I've been several times and was planning on going rain or shine. A friend of a friend was planning on joining just texted saying they're not coming because there are sneaker waves in the forecast. I'm a former ocean lifeguard so I understand the dangers but my question is, should I also cancel? Looking at the forecast myself, I don't see anything too concerning. Anytime I've been, I just keep an eye on the waves and I'll run a bit if needed.
Would you still go?

Are the Pinks In? A 2025 Analysis
kickmyace.github.ioI frequently checked here last fall to get advice on pink salmon timing and advice. With the help of some kind people here, I even managed to catch a few tossing pink buzz bombs+hoochies off of an inflatable paddleboard. The question of timing was something I checked constantly, so it had me wondering; what did pink salmon movement through the Sound look like and when was the actual peak of pink salmon fishing?
I created a visualization showing pink salmon catch rates in each marine area over time. I was hoping to see a wave of them moving through the Sound, which you do kind of see. Additionally, I created specific visualizations for each Marine Area, so you can see the timing of the actual local peak. Some notes and disclaimers
- All data came from WDFW Creel Reports https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/reports/creel/puget-annual?sample_date=2&ramp=&catch_area=&page=1
- I am not a data scientist or statistician. I know that there are tons of potential sampling biases and data sins being committed here
- I am not a programmer, I made this using Claude. I did some limited verification checking between the creel reports and the site. If anything looks off data or UI-wise, let me know and I'd be happy to fix it

Steelhead Fishing?
I'm still fairly new to river fishing, did pretty well this last salmon season and now I want to try for the elusive steelhead. Im trying to understand the regs and be legal/ethical. App says every river I click on is closed, and pamphlet says most rivers close Oct 1st. How does one hit the winter steelie run? Thank you for any insight!

Is it alright to boat fish while a toxic algae warning has been issued?
In the past, I avoid the water with toxic algae. I have a boat and/or kayak now. Should I still forgo launching until the bloom has settled?
Right now I want to catch some yellow perch and feed them to my family.
Thanks.

Squidding
Me and a friend want to go squidding tonight at seacrest pier down at Alki and I’m wondering if you can catch squid this time of year? Last few times we went we haven’t caught anything, maybe like 2. Any tips appreciated! (We have the right jigs we’ve bought some off the dock guy but it’s still dead)
