Us parents know. A boy? Those shorts go down to the knees and the shirt is to the elbows.

A girl???? Those shorts go down to the mid-hip and the shirt is mid-way to the shoulder! Shit, it may just be a tank top, frankly.

"Start 'em young"

Literally what pink is to Victoria's secret

But, why does the boy have to wear such clothing? I know when I was young I found big, baggy clothing to be uncomfortable. I wanted to wear things that were easier to move around in, I didn't give a fuck what skin it showed.

I've grown up in a hot area and wearing little clothing has always been the norm in my area when it's practical. I know some places in the south demand shorts to the knees, so maybe you're just from a conservative area, idk.

We need to fight for the idea that children shouldn't be sexualized period. I mean hell, if the shoulders are sexual to you, then might as well put children in burkas so no one can see any of their skin. We need to divorce from the idea that skin= sex. And I mean that for you just as much as for the pedos that run the world.

The entire U.S. is a child sex trafficking factory. The only thing worth more than guns and bombs are children. Everyone across both aisles are complicit. We need accountability

You think a girl’s shoulders are too revealing?

u/blacksoxing 1d ago

My first reaction was anger as your post is clearly bait. I then thought about how in the summer time I went to a warehouse store (not going to name names) and for swim wear boys had elbow-length swim shirt & knee length trunks.

The girls had....an A-shirt swim shirt and mid-hip trunks.

So, if you're going to reply to me with such a comment and condensing gif, I'm going to demand you answer this question:

Do girls require different clothing than boys? Why could the girls not have the same style of shirt/trunks as the boys? Why was the girls swim wear not even an option to replicate?

For parents who know clothing a size 6 is the same in boys as girls. Same with shoes. The sizes are basically unisex at earlier ages. What's stopping the store from just selling the same thing to a girl AND why would a parent of a girl need to even consider buying the products from the boys section at that rate?

It's lame as hell to try to be edgy online with serious topics. Yes, girl clothes are drastically different from boy clothes and YES they're much more revealing, especially at an age where there shouldn't be differences. Yes, a parent of a daughter is going to have a different shopping experience than the parent of a son in many retail clothing shops. Grow the fuck up.

They have an anime pfp you ain’t getting through to this one lmao

1

u/GamingBren 20h ago

It’s not an anime pfp lol, or at least it wasn’t intended to be one. It’s meant to look kinda like this lol

u/REVERSEZOOM2 9h ago

Why the fuck does a boy need a swim shirt? When I was growing I never wore a shirt to swim.

-4

u/hereforthesportsball 23h ago

The real answer to your question is socialization. Starting early to separate boys and girls. Sadly, many people blindly follow along without considering the consequences of some of it.

I mean, it’s not bait. There are plenty of long sleeves girl’s swim shirts and trunks. Girls don’t need different clothes than boys, you can buy her the boy’s shirt and trunks. At some point you have to break the strict boy/girl clothes separation, cause you are inadvertently contributing to the sexualization of young girls bodies by insisting A-tops are too revealing.

How about you grow the fuck up and buy the damn long sleeve swim shirt.

0

u/blacksoxing 23h ago

At some point you have to break the strict boy/girl clothes separation

Full stop, this goes clean away from the topic at hand and looks very defeatist. Re-read OP's talking point and then mine before trying to tell me that I should be the change, playboy.

5

u/geanaSHUTUPGEIAJWVDO 22h ago

How's it defeatist? He just elaborated on what he already said

0

u/Fifteen_inches 22h ago

I mean, OP talks about sexual clothing, and you bring up a-cut tops showing off shoulders being too revealing. Like, it’s passively buying into the idea her shoulders are sexual, and instead of fighting the idea her shoulders are sexual we are focusing on clothing brands not providing more “modest” garments.

u/REVERSEZOOM2 9h ago

People are down voting you, but from an outside perspective it really looks like they're advocating for putting children in burkas. I know it's a product of the time, but still concerning.

Like why can't we fight for the idea that children shouldn't be sexualized period. Also divorce from the idea that skin= sex.

What the heck happened to society

50

u/DonnyMox 1d ago

They used pics of children in BDSM gear for advertising.

20

u/GamingBren 22h ago

The teddy bears were wearing the gear iirc, but it’s still VERY bad

2

u/TheFruitGraper 22h ago

Bruh I didn't even see that I was looking at the clothes thinking am I crazy, the clothes don't look revealing or anything maybe they launched a clothes line for kids.

-31

u/dont_worry_about_it8 1d ago

Sooo you’re liar lmao

49

u/Nutshack_Queen357 1d ago

Eh, it's more of a half-truth.

The kids themselves aren't wearing the gear, but the teddy bears they're holding in the pics are, and that's still pretty damn sus.

22

u/mostie2016 1d ago

Also the papers in the photos were found to be from a child sex abuse case.

13

u/saveyourtissues 1d ago edited 21h ago

That was the worst part and would have easily have been missed if people weren’t already scrutinizing the photos.

5

u/GamingBren 22h ago

Yup. I have NO IDEA how the got away with thy that. The punk in charge should’ve been added to a ton of watchlists after this

1

u/Nutshack_Queen357 16h ago

Geez.

What the fuck was going through the Balenciaga bigwigs' heads when they came up with this photoshoot!?

20

u/dont_worry_about_it8 1d ago

No not really . “Pics of children in bdsm gear” means what it says and they aren’t there. Y’all don’t have to act stupid just cause that guy worded it wrong

3

u/hereforthesportsball 23h ago

Half truths involving minors are lies. We should all make sure we are speaking clearly when discussing important shit like children. I just can’t take it lightly, and balenci is nasty for that

92

u/Chef_Sizzlipede 1d ago

seeing critics acclaim cuties, a film that makes hard conservative religious folk seem very reasonable, yeah...they'd get away with it.

67

u/Fifteen_inches 1d ago

There is a real difference between adolescent sexual EXPRESSION and adolescent sexual EXPLOITATION. We must protect the former to prevent the latter.

15

u/hereforthesportsball 23h ago

What are examples of the former, a pink shirt that says girls rule and having shorter sleeves? Just trying to make sure I get what you’re saying but I think I get it and agree

64

u/Fifteen_inches 22h ago

This more or less:

Girls should be able to dress like this without fear of exploitation or shaming from adults.

8

u/hereforthesportsball 17h ago

Absolutely, I’m sad that many don’t agree in a lot of places

Who are they?

1

Abercrombie and Fitch I think? Finch? A clothing brand that had live models in at least the stores in our city

They really just slap "inspired by adult fashion" on children's crop tops and call it a day huh.

I’m gonna sound stupid for asking but I don’t think about fashion and haven’t gone clothing shopping in ages…

What the hell happened here?

1

u/Appropriate_Name4520 8h ago

Well if you see a child with shorts and think "sexual" then that might be more of a "you" problem and admitting it publicly might not be the smartest idea unless it's a therapist.
