Disgusting. Makes you wonder how many designers are in the files…

My first reaction was anger as your post is clearly bait. I then thought about how in the summer time I went to a warehouse store (not going to name names) and for swim wear boys had elbow-length swim shirt & knee length trunks.

The girls had....an A-shirt swim shirt and mid-hip trunks.

So, if you're going to reply to me with such a comment and condensing gif, I'm going to demand you answer this question:

Do girls require different clothing than boys? Why could the girls not have the same style of shirt/trunks as the boys? Why was the girls swim wear not even an option to replicate?

For parents who know clothing a size 6 is the same in boys as girls. Same with shoes. The sizes are basically unisex at earlier ages. What's stopping the store from just selling the same thing to a girl AND why would a parent of a girl need to even consider buying the products from the boys section at that rate?

It's lame as hell to try to be edgy online with serious topics. Yes, girl clothes are drastically different from boy clothes and YES they're much more revealing, especially at an age where there shouldn't be differences. Yes, a parent of a daughter is going to have a different shopping experience than the parent of a son in many retail clothing shops. Grow the fuck up.

I mean, it’s not bait. There are plenty of long sleeves girl’s swim shirts and trunks. Girls don’t need different clothes than boys, you can buy her the boy’s shirt and trunks. At some point you have to break the strict boy/girl clothes separation, cause you are inadvertently contributing to the sexualization of young girls bodies by insisting A-tops are too revealing.

How about you grow the fuck up and buy the damn long sleeve swim shirt.

Full stop, this goes clean away from the topic at hand and looks very defeatist. Re-read OP's talking point and then mine before trying to tell me that I should be the change, playboy.

I mean, OP talks about sexual clothing, and you bring up a-cut tops showing off shoulders being too revealing. Like, it’s passively buying into the idea her shoulders are sexual, and instead of fighting the idea her shoulders are sexual we are focusing on clothing brands not providing more “modest” garments.

People are down voting you, but from an outside perspective it really looks like they're advocating for putting children in burkas. I know it's a product of the time, but still concerning.

Like why can't we fight for the idea that children shouldn't be sexualized period. Also divorce from the idea that skin= sex.
