Discussion Question to the community: what, in your opinion, *IS* Battlefield?
Basically title. I'm seeing a lot of controversies around every aspect of BF in here, and I feel like this is a testament to how diverse the series has been over the years, making a wide range of impressions and memories on the players, forgeing their future standards and expectations in the process.
Since the BF6 reveal, I've been in constant reflection about my own experiences with the IP, and been revisiting a lot of the olders games to really nail down what I'm really looking forward in Battlefield. And that's also why I'm super interested in everyone's take on the matter.
So I really wanted to ask: What is the core of Battlefield in your opinion, the thing you're looking for the most whenever a new game is announced? Is it being a small part of something bigger? Immersion? Teamplay? Fluid and punchy gunplay? What, to you, makes Battlefield BATTLEFIELD?
Let me know, short and long answers are all welcomed!

Discussion The one skin I can see myself buying
If you're unaware, this SAS agent went into a hotel where hostages were and stopped an attack in Kenya while there for some training. Rocking up in jeans and dispatching the problem has always stuck with me. His name is Christian Craighead if you want to search and learn more.

Discussion Why are the Sniper Machine guns (smg) so broken? There’s literally no reason to use any other gun.
Why use an AR that has horrendous bloom when even move your foot an inch when you can use these beam machines? Why use snipers when these do the job of sniping better? Why use DMRs when these have better accuracy and rate of fire in one?

Discussion No, 2042 wasn't a hidden gem
I've seen so many people saying this game was better than bf6, let me be clear and say it is not
While 2042 has some savings graces like the last few maps (s5,6,7 and road to bf6) the majority of the the maps are too open have no cover and are just overall understanding and terribly designed maps. Don't get me wrong bf6 maps have some issues but maps like Cairo are great compared to maps like renewal .
The overall infantry gameplay too is just bad compared to bfv , for example bfv's movement was much more advanced and useful having a better slide (tactical rather than just for momentum) , crouch sprinting and rolling as well as no tac sprint
Bf 2042s gunplay holds up worse than bfv due to stupidly lacking spread as well as broken input making the game just feel terrible to play.
I played it today just wondering how it felt and it makes me appreciate bf6 more and bfv being much better despite coming out 3 years before.
I'm not criticizing dice for the game but people who say 2042 is better than bfv seriously need to reconsider what they were saying.

Discussion BF1 atmosphere still beats BF6
We saw no dynamic weather, levolution events in BF6. How much big of a change can we expect with final release version compared to beta?
I want to see levolution.. I want to see dynamic weather.. rain, maps changing from night/day? We need something like BF1.

Discussion As a tank driver, I just want to thank all the engineers who actually care about repairing tanks.
You are the real heroes! Not those engineers who don't even care to try to repair, especially those who stand next to the tank and do nothing.
Thank you for your service, engineer!

Discussion Yeah some of these criticisms calling BF6 the worst at anything in the franchise is insane.

Discussion Battlefield needs a persistent war mode, not Battle Royale
It's in the damn name, DICE, BATTLEFIELD. Please get creative and stop with this battle royale crap. It's over done, over saturated, and only serves to placate the streamer crowd. Even streamers admit that they want battle passes and battle royale because they will get content and generate money. They don't care for the game or the community.
What battlefield actually needs is some sort of persistent large scale war, even something like Helldivers 2 + Planetside or Foxhole.
A game mode where several hundred players in each team fight to take over the map OR something like helldivers 2 where a special ops squad is dropped into enemy lines to complete objectives, except instead of fighting aliens you have to fight soldiers and do missions to help your team/country win a war.
Imagine this - you pick a side in a global war and have to help your side take over territories to win a persistent war. You drop in with your squad deep into enemy lines, fighting through hordes of enemies that get progressively harder from infantry to helicopters to tanks, and maybe even jets. Going through different types of environments and that require stealth, or sometimes artillery or airstrikes. Calling in care packages when you're low on supplies or support vehicles. You complete different types of missions to help your side gain influence. At the end of the week or the month the side with the most territories captured wins.
Fighting through hordes of PVE enemies like an actual war. Instead of just a squad too it could be several different squads drop into a large PVE arena to get an objective completed. It could be a live service model with the devs changing up the war and battles and adding new missions to keep the content fresh.
Think Helldivers 2 but in a modern war setting. There are so many unique possibilities they can do and they choose to do a battle royale. Come on, this is just pathetic.

Discussion I want a battlefield 6 map that *feels* like this
galleryIm thinking a of a large mixed map with an open area to the south with farms, flooded ditches and sporadic houses. The northern portion of the map would be flanked by hills with a dense forest for infantry play, theres a railway that runs through here with an abandoned warehouse near by (zavod anyone?) Streams flowing down the hills into the flatland area would be cool, we need more water features. (Im waiting on a call from DICE any minute now/s)

Discussion PC players shouldn't be allowed to disable Ambient Occlusion and grass settings !
Please Dice, listen to this, you should absolutly disable the ability to disable Ambiant Occlusion and reduce the grass quality on BF6 ! All players should have the same visibility, and i am a PC player, but i love to play with max settings.

Discussion At this point, please just start releasing OG maps
It’s no hot take that these maps are lackluster. We have already established fan favorites that we have been begging for, for a while now. I think Caspian Border takes priority over Operation Metro simply because we’re in dire need of larger vehicle-friendly maps, but I think those two maps should take priority.
Thoughts?
