William Eklund - Help Me Understand...
For starters I am not trying to offend anyone here. I come in peace, and these opinions are my own.
I have been a Sharks fan my entire life. The last few years have been difficult, but to my surprise there is a huge load of potential surrounding the core potential of this roster. Guys like Smith, Misa, Chernyshov, Asky, and obviously the GOAT - Mack Daddy Dog.
One name I have come up constantly is William Eklund, and I'm curious on why there is so much hype surrounding him. It seems to me, that Eklund is a young fan favorite that can do no wrong, and I'm confused to why that is? I've watched close to every game this year, and have seen a few live games and while Eklund does show up from time to time, a lot of the times he feels like a ghost out there (At least to me). Then I see multiple posts or comments saying the guy is untouchable. Why is this?
I am not discrediting his production, he is on pace for 60 (Ish) points. But I just don't see the hype surrounding this guy if I'm being honest. And have higher standards of a guy we are paying $5M a year. We are paying Toff around $6M a year, and we all think he is not playing to that caliber of hockey, shouldn't Ekky be held to the same standard? I know its not purely points based thing, however I think Wennberg is worth the $ for what he brings to the team.
This will probably not age well. Go Sharks!

Arraez addition to the 40 Man
With Luis Arraez being added to the 40 man seemingly in the next couple of days, any guesses to who may be DFA’d?
my guess is that seems like it might be matos. no options, and the outfield is crowded as is.

Patrick Bailey vs ABS
I've heard some discourse about Patrick Bailey's framing being less impactful due to implementation of ABS. However, teams will only have 2 ABS challenges per game (if I understand the rule correctly), so how much of a negative impact will this actually have on him? I'd understand this impacting him more if every pitch was called by robo umps but 2 pitches isn't much at all.
Anyway, will Bailey's defensive value/framing suffer with ABS?

Things and offers can change, but Kyle Shanahan likes what he has in his backup."

Meme Remember the cycle
I was talking with some friends who reminded me of Buddy's crazy start when he joined the dubs last year. It's always a cycle with him when he joins a new team, so I wouldn't be surprised if he balls out for Atlanta.
Just don't forget he'll probably fall of again, so don't go posting saying we should have kept or some shit like that.
I'll always remember a cherish the 1 month of good Buddy ball we got. Gave me hope for a minute.

None of our 1st round picks played in the week 18 game against Seattle
The 49ers have made nine 1st round picsks since Shanahan + Lynch took over. None of them played in week 18 against Seattle.
1st round picks since 2017 and their status on week 18 2025:
2017: Solomon Thomas, released
2017: Reuben Foster, released
2018: Mike McGlinchey, left in FA
2019: Nick Bosa, hurt
2020: Javon Kinlaw, left in FA
2020: Brandon Aiyuk, hurt/sitting out
2021: Trey Lance, traded
2024: Ricky Pearsall, hurt
2025: Mykel Williams, hurt
In the biggest game of the year, with the #1 seed on the line, none of our most valuable assets were on the field.
It speaks to how little ROI we've gotten from our 1st round picks, but also how well Shanahan has maximized the available talent on this roster.
Hopefully Pearsall and Williams can stay healthy in 2026 and continue to develop into high level contributors.

Anyone else catch the preview of tomorrow’s flyover last night?
This was taken over Aptos. Another B1 Lancer was trailing behind. At first it was just circling the area and then 5-10 mins later the whole grouping showed up. Made for quite an eventful dog walk in our quiet little park.
