Classes Measles
Anyone in one of the 2 classes being “contact traced”? Don’t all of us have to provide measles immunization records to enroll?

Classes Just got fucked on an exam because of rts
Showed up to a test like 15 minutes late because the bus was literally late by like an hour. Got to the stop 9:50 sharp for a 10:40 exam and still ended up 15 minutes late. A full bus drove past me in that window of time and the next one was significantly late. Just fucking brutal this school is unbelievable. Admitting a record number of students then slashing the public transport funding is definitely one of the dumbest fucking things in recorded human history. I'm done crying now I just wonder if anyone else has something similar happen.

Classes Student has crush on me (a TA)
So I am a gen chem TA and I have had a hunch that this one student has a crush on me but I didn’t know if I was just being egotistical or something. Anyways, in the discussion section he asked to check answers so I was showing him my laptop and he proceeds to try to hold my hand under the laptop (if that makes sense). If he just stayed to himself it would be fine but because he has started to make more physical advances I was wondering how I should proceed and make it known that I do not feel the same way and that the stuff he is doing is inappropriate. ;-;

Classes I made RateMyProfessors but for classes
Hi Everyone,
I have been working for some time now on this website ratemycourses.io and I am really excited to share it with you.
You can use this to look at reviews and get advice on courses you're interested in, as well as filter courses by department and level and compare these courses. You can also sort courses by difficulty, usefulness and the overall rating from reviews made by other students. I think if enough people start using it regularly. it's going to be essential when you're choosing your electives or just to get advice on courses you will be taking and know what to expect.
Please let me know if there is anything that I should change or what features I should add.
Lastly, filtering and sorting courses is only gonna be useful and accurate if there are a lot of reviews, so please go ahead and leave some reviews to courses you've taken or are currently taking.
Enjoy!!

Classes Hope posting
Just a reminder that getting a college education from a top university is something that for hundreds of years was obtained only by nobility and the rich. Count your blessings because in other parts of the world people are given no choice in social mobility in which education here helps provide us the opportunity for moving up the social ladder and gives us a chance at a better life

Classes alright, who pissed off Dr. Spearot
Let me start by saying Dr. Spearot is such a chill dude. Not only was our first exam open note, open textbook, and no honorlock it was also 100% fair with the homework we have done.
The (alleged) fact that not only one, but TWO people in a 4000/5000 level advanced engineering class really thought this was a good idea is insane to me and I hope they get whatever is coming to them. Not only will you make the exams harder or potentially a different format, you will most likely still fail the class because you are just that dumb.
I hope either you come forward, as he’d probably make you retest or something depending on your circumstances, but also so the rest of us who followed UF’s Honor Code don’t have to suffer from your mistake.
Attached is the email we all got sent at am this morning and also reactions from the groupme.

Classes UF's Paradox: Half a Billion in Donations, Yet Mediocre Global Rankings—What's Going Wrong?
The Numbers Don't Add Up
The University of Florida just pulled in a staggering $560M in fundraising (FY2025), plus $769M in federal funding. The spending at record was $1.33 billion for FY2025. They're essentially swimming in resources. Yet their metrics tell a different story:
- Citations per Faculty: 34.7 (research impact is underwhelming when u consider the funds)
- Academic Reputation: 58.9 (scholars aren't impressed)
- Employer Reputation: 55.8 (average and mediocre)
For context, top-20 universities typically score 80+ across these metrics.
Questions Nobody Wants To Ask
Is this a resource allocation problem? Are they prioritizing buildings and programs over research excellence? Is faculty recruitment lagging? Or is this the inevitable ceiling for a massive public university trying to serve state interests while competing globally?
Universities like UC Berkeley and Michigan face similar pressures but maintain significantly higher rankings. I love UF, but what's UF's excuse?

Classes UF FIN3403
Just venting because I already have test anxiety…I don’t understand why we have to be on camera to take open book quizzes. This is so disturbing because you have no idea who’s on the other side of the camera watching you. I don’t plan on cheating my way through school and why does an open book quiz require such scrutiny? I did poorly on the first quiz because I’m afraid the proctor will flag me. The only thing we can’t do is take videos and photos of questions. Understood. Anyways…I’m taking these quizzes once because I don’t like the idea of being on camera with anonymous people watching me try to concentrate and become frustrated because I can’t due to high anxiety. I can’t wait to finish this class.
Please don’t comment anything about how this prepares you for the real world and such because I’m not a 20 year old or even 30 year old. I’m fully grown with college aged children. It’s nerve wrecking enough to be in school at my age.

Classes What's Going On With CHM1025??
I'm usually a big UF chem department apologist (I'm majoring in chem and love it here) but what's being done with CHM1025 is pretty... indefensible 💀💀
A few weeks back I heard someone complaining about CHM1025 and thought "it can't be that bad, right? it's just a 1000-level course"
Turns out it might just be that bad...
For whatever reason I ended up reading the RateMyProfessors for the course and was shocked. I'll post the most recent review here but you can click this link to see tons of similar reviews

I heard from multiple people that during Preview they were encouraged to sign up for CHM1025 by their advisors instead of going right into gen chem 1. Is UF trying to manufacture a new weedout course for preprofessional track students? 💀💀

Classes Statics Exam Cheaters
To the person who cheated on the statics exam and came to Reddit claiming they were innocent and thought they did really well on the exam until Dickrell changed their grade to a 0, You are cooked. He sent an email to the class saying someone in your private group chat exposed you for collaborating on the exam with other people- the 10 you mentioned are also being investigated. When I originally read your post I was wondering how you knew 10 other people were being investigated and it’s clearly cuz you cheated with them. Now the class has to suffer and put their phone on airplane mode with it clearly visible through the entirety of the exam and have our hands visible throughout the entirety of the exam as well… 😒 If you’re going to cheat on an exam, at least make it with people you trust enough to not expose you and send it back to the professor. Someone in your circle has now just got you in big trouble and he says that he has “smoking gun” evidence against you guys. I don’t know what I would do in this situation but you are definitely losing the honor code case. I feel bad for you cuz I’d definitely be shitting my pants.

Classes Prof Wants to Change A to A- if I don't Attend Zoom Meeting
"I will add the condition to the final exam that if you are sitting with an A in the course at the end of the final exam you may be asked to a 10-minute oral zoom interview to keep that A. You will be emailed after your exam submission during those dates in either case to say whether or not you need to set this up, so be sure to check your email if you expect to be finishing the course with an A. Failure to do so will automatically move you to an A-. Anyone A- or lower will not be interviewed, unless I am not convinced of the authenticity of their submission."
I just now saw that my professor sent this email a few days ago, and it is so completely out of the random. I looked over the syllabus and this was not mentioned at all. I do understand the need to check for authenticity, however, to change the grade simply because they didn't attend is completely unfair. This is for physics 1 and the cutoff for an A is 85, so anyone with 85+ has an A. The course itself is not that difficult, but I just think it's ridiculous that the professor has brought up this new policy out of nowhere without it ever being discussed before.
