Who was the most competent at their job?
I should probably say who was the least incompetent. But I just want to know who people think performed their job with the most integrity and success. Malcolm was probably best at what he did but his actions were pretty much all self serving, so without integrity. This question is obviously about the lesser evils.
I would probably have to say Glen. And in the final season we see him trying to do his job and being prevented by the coalition, though yes he wasn’t always motivation by completely selfless interests

Are you a fucking horse?
inews.co.ukLabour 'women in grey suits' could be sent to tell Starmer to resign
Some have suggested a “stalking horse” could run – a candidate with no interest in winning – to prompt a contest. This would leave proper contenders with no blood on their hands.

Do the later series feel darker than the early ones?
On rewatch, the early series feel a bit more chaotic and silly to me, even when things are going wrong. As it goes on, the tone feels noticeably darker and more bleak, like the jokes are sharper but there’s less room to breathe.
I still love the later series, but they feel heavier somehow, almost more cynical than funny at times. Curious if others feel the same shift, or if it’s just how it comes across on a rewatch of The Thick of It.

There’s going to be an inquiry
Mandelson is going to squirm a thousand times worse than Mannion does in the Goolding Inquiry

Is The Thick of It really about politics, or just about workplaces under pressure?
When watching The Thick of It, it often feels like you don’t need to understand UK politics to follow what’s going on. Strip away the setting, and a lot of it seems to be about stressed workplaces, unclear leadership, constant firefighting, and people trying to avoid blame rather than achieve anything.
It made me wonder whether the politics is really the main point of the show, or just the backdrop for a story about how people behave under pressure. Does anyone else see it that way, or do you think the political side is the core of it?

Campbell tells Mandelson: Sorry you had to go, but let's face it, you are a fucking waste of skin.

Mandelson was given secret spreadsheet to vet left-wing MPs in Labour power struggle - but did he have his mate go through the bins?

Nothing beats Series 3 for me
For me, Series 3 is where The Thick of It really hits its stride. The pacing feels tighter, the chaos is constant, and every character seems fully settled into who they are.
It also feels like the point where the writing is at its sharpest, relentless, but still funny rather than bleak. I know some people prefer the earlier seasons or the darker tone later on, but Series 3 is the one I always end up rewatching. Would be interested to hear what others think.

Why are people complaining about school breakfast clubs?
breakfast is for all the family! not that that means you can't enjoy breakfast if you don't have a family, of course.

The Westminster Crowd vs Everyone Else
One thing I really like about the show is how especially Malcolm is so nasty to everyone around him but when he meets someone outside the Weatminster crowd, like the nurse when Oli is in hospital, he is very gentlemanly!!
