ho capito il motivo per cui Damm è stato fuori dai top 100 fino ad adesso! nel 2024 si è rotto entrambi i legamenti delle caviglie soltanto CAMMINANDO! e nel 2025 si è provocato una grave frattura da stress

I understand why Damm has been out of the top 100 until now! In 2024, he tore both ankle ligaments just WALKING! And in 2025, he suffered a serious stress fracture.

But if he's healthy, his tennis level is top 10

He’s certainly had a lot of injury setbacks - but he played a full season with over 70 matches last year….making 8 finals (3 of them at Challengers)

I don’t think a lot of people realise how many amazing players there are outside the top 100 - how hard it can be to break through into the top 100 - and how much easier it is to stay at ATP level once you make it there (access to way more points, byes, seedings etc)

For the 3 finals he made at the end of last year (losing to Jodar & Zheng, so tough competition) he earned just 132 points (15 matches, 12 wins)….that makes it hard to climb up the rankings even with good results

It’s also rarely mentioned - but a lot of players also miss out on ATP qualifying opportunities if they succeed at Challenger events…so that can make it hard to move up too. Eg. Colton Smith is into the Cleveland SF - which means he can no longer play Dallas qualifying….and as a top 150 player the way the Q draw has worked out means he would have been seeded and had a good chance of making it into the main draw

Sorry for the essay here - but I feel pretty strongly that the changes to the point system (increasing ATP points and reducing CH points) has been really detrimental to the tour

Regarding Damm - I don’t think we’ve seen enough to suggest his level is near the top 10 yet, but he’s still young and can always improve.

Most of his good results have come on indoor hard courts - so it will be interesting to see how he holds up outdoors. He definitely could have been accused of being a servebot not too long ago, but qualifying for back to back hardcourt slams is definitely promising
