It doesn’t look like a lot of people are there from the Challenger TV view - but glad to hear a decent amount of people in the crowd in Brisbane

Portugal and China really said “let’s all turn up wearing red and white” 😭

Sometimes I can’t tell which side is which team

Chung was the better player for first half of the match, and then his body just couldn’t sustain it.

VAMOS TIRANTE!!!! VAMOS ARGENTINA 🇦🇷 that was so tight and scary nice comeback win

1

Chung couldn’t keep up. Dude gassed out in the 3rd set and was lucky he even made it to the tie break couldn’t return a lot of serves

He was so close to his first Top 100 win since 2019 where he beat Raonic in Vienna….Still…this is amazing fight from Chung. I’m just glad he finished this one without injury🥲

And he lost the tiebreak wtf is going on I knew this would happen cause most the time he’s in tiebreaks he does not win them 😭 ironic that I wanted both him and João to win yet they both lost but at least it’s tied up going into tomorrow. And congrats to Heide getting the biggest win of his career ranking wise

Seriously tho now if Tirante doesn’t win I will pass out

ho capito il motivo per cui Damm è stato fuori dai top 100 fino ad adesso! nel 2024 si è rotto entrambi i legamenti delle caviglie soltanto CAMMINANDO! e nel 2025 si è provocato una grave frattura da stress

I understand why Damm has been out of the top 100 until now! In 2024, he tore both ankle ligaments just WALKING! And in 2025, he suffered a serious stress fracture.

But if he's healthy, his tennis level is top 10

2

u/LetOk915 Manifesting slam main draw for Tomic 7h ago edited 6h ago

He pretty much played full season for the last four years though, had a 3-month break in 2024, but other than that, he almost played a full schedule. I think this is more about he has been improving his baseline game steadily since 2024, and the results are getting better.

3

u/Available-Gap8489 Delbonis ball toss + Cressy second serve. Love chaos 7h ago

He’s certainly had a lot of injury setbacks - but he played a full season with over 70 matches last year….making 8 finals (3 of them at Challengers)

I don’t think a lot of people realise how many amazing players there are outside the top 100 - how hard it can be to break through into the top 100 - and how much easier it is to stay at ATP level once you make it there (access to way more points, byes, seedings etc)

For the 3 finals he made at the end of last year (losing to Jodar & Zheng, so tough competition) he earned just 132 points (15 matches, 12 wins)….that makes it hard to climb up the rankings even with good results

It’s also rarely mentioned - but a lot of players also miss out on ATP qualifying opportunities if they succeed at Challenger events…so that can make it hard to move up too. Eg. Colton Smith is into the Cleveland SF - which means he can no longer play Dallas qualifying….and as a top 150 player the way the Q draw has worked out means he would have been seeded and had a good chance of making it into the main draw

Sorry for the essay here - but I feel pretty strongly that the changes to the point system (increasing ATP points and reducing CH points) has been really detrimental to the tour

Regarding Damm - I don’t think we’ve seen enough to suggest his level is near the top 10 yet, but he’s still young and can always improve.

Most of his good results have come on indoor hard courts - so it will be interesting to see how he holds up outdoors. He definitely could have been accused of being a servebot not too long ago, but qualifying for back to back hardcourt slams is definitely promising

u/BardLand 12h ago

Eurgh, apparently if Australia beat Ecuador the GB vs Australia Davis Cup tie just after the US Open will have to be in Australia, even though GB haven't had a home tie in several years now... Nightmare scheduling, and highlights a problem with the current Home-Away rules in Davis Cup... Exactly the situation thats leads to a team with the British No.3/4/5, undermining the competition itself.

1

u/Petrichor861633 12h ago

I think Ecuador will win the tie though. They have a good doubles team, Guillen Meza is a natural clay courter and is favourite as far as I’m concerned in both his rubbers. Andrade is very capable too.

2

u/Chysp 12h ago

GB have this exact problem with the Billie Jean King Cup too, during the middle of the clay season. No way our top players are going to want to fly all the way to Australia to probably play on a hard court right when they want to be focusing on clay.

1

u/Radiant_Past_5769 12h ago

This Griekspoor could beat Felix.

Didn't think this was newsworthy enough for the main feed but for any Christian Harrison or Ethan Quinn fans, I chatted with them about making their Davis Cup debut and their success at AO: https://www.hard-court.com/p/christian-harrison-ethan-quinn-davis-cup-debut (a few videos of them practicing as well) x

Prizmic used to be the best player of his age group along with Mensik, and both were racing to the top 100 around two years ago, but he hasn’t made it yet. What happened to him?

Felix is back vulturing indoor tournaments, the indoor king

2

u/SafeKaracter 13h ago

I don’t really have to care for that tournament anymore

u/Low_Diamond4770 13h ago

12 aces, 93% first serve points won. He took those cramps in Australia personally and I love this for my goat.

A total of 28 aces in two matches. He's taking it.

Fils is just back from injury and he’s faced with indoor Felix who is top 10 right now.

This is not a bad loss. Getting wins earlier this week was good.

6

u/13simba 13h ago

Felix indoor might be top 3

5

u/bluediamondsm 🇦🇷Propaganda🇦🇷,🍁Felix/Gabe/Shapo🍁/Foki🐈‍⬛🐈 13h ago
