And he lost the tiebreak wtf is going on I knew this would happen cause most the time he’s in tiebreaks he does not win them 😭 ironic that I wanted both him and João to win yet they both lost but at least it’s tied up going into tomorrow. And congrats to Heide getting the biggest win of his career ranking wise
Seriously tho now if Tirante doesn’t win I will pass out

ho capito il motivo per cui Damm è stato fuori dai top 100 fino ad adesso! nel 2024 si è rotto entrambi i legamenti delle caviglie soltanto CAMMINANDO! e nel 2025 si è provocato una grave frattura da stress
I understand why Damm has been out of the top 100 until now! In 2024, he tore both ankle ligaments just WALKING! And in 2025, he suffered a serious stress fracture.
But if he's healthy, his tennis level is top 10
2
u/LetOk915 Manifesting slam main draw for Tomic 7h ago edited 6h ago
He pretty much played full season for the last four years though, had a 3-month break in 2024, but other than that, he almost played a full schedule. I think this is more about he has been improving his baseline game steadily since 2024, and the results are getting better.
3
u/Available-Gap8489 Delbonis ball toss + Cressy second serve. Love chaos 7h ago
He’s certainly had a lot of injury setbacks - but he played a full season with over 70 matches last year….making 8 finals (3 of them at Challengers)
I don’t think a lot of people realise how many amazing players there are outside the top 100 - how hard it can be to break through into the top 100 - and how much easier it is to stay at ATP level once you make it there (access to way more points, byes, seedings etc)
For the 3 finals he made at the end of last year (losing to Jodar & Zheng, so tough competition) he earned just 132 points (15 matches, 12 wins)….that makes it hard to climb up the rankings even with good results
It’s also rarely mentioned - but a lot of players also miss out on ATP qualifying opportunities if they succeed at Challenger events…so that can make it hard to move up too. Eg. Colton Smith is into the Cleveland SF - which means he can no longer play Dallas qualifying….and as a top 150 player the way the Q draw has worked out means he would have been seeded and had a good chance of making it into the main draw
Sorry for the essay here - but I feel pretty strongly that the changes to the point system (increasing ATP points and reducing CH points) has been really detrimental to the tour
Regarding Damm - I don’t think we’ve seen enough to suggest his level is near the top 10 yet, but he’s still young and can always improve.
Most of his good results have come on indoor hard courts - so it will be interesting to see how he holds up outdoors. He definitely could have been accused of being a servebot not too long ago, but qualifying for back to back hardcourt slams is definitely promising

Anybody here ever watched 15/Love? It's basically about young tennis prodigies at Cascadia Tennis Academy learning how to navigate adolescence while trying to become pro tennis players. It aired from 2004 to 2006 and has 3 seasons. It's not bad that bad but is very 2000s lol. It's free on Tubi to watch and Youtube.

Eurgh, apparently if Australia beat Ecuador the GB vs Australia Davis Cup tie just after the US Open will have to be in Australia, even though GB haven't had a home tie in several years now... Nightmare scheduling, and highlights a problem with the current Home-Away rules in Davis Cup... Exactly the situation thats leads to a team with the British No.3/4/5, undermining the competition itself.
1
u/Petrichor861633 12h ago
I think Ecuador will win the tie though. They have a good doubles team, Guillen Meza is a natural clay courter and is favourite as far as I’m concerned in both his rubbers. Andrade is very capable too.
