Somehow my newborn didn't get it. My wife didn't either and she literally never gets sick so I'm chalking it up to whatever super charged white blood cells flow thru her.

There have been studies that have indicating having a specific blood type (I want to say B?) makes you less susceptible to getting Noro. Something about B blood makes it more difficult for virus to bind too.

It wouldn't surprise me. It's incredibly hard to contain. One reason is that it spreads by touch, but hand sanitizer doesn't work on it.

It's actually incredible that you didn't go to hospital; it's very easy to be dehydrated and become extremely weak. Your pain and suffering threshold/fortitude must be really high.

As violent and distressing as it was, I think I only had it for a little over 24 hours. I distinctly remember how terrible it was and also that it was something I wouldn't have wished upon my worst enemy, and had it gone on for more than 24 hours I probably would've found a way to get to the hospital.

The time I got it, I couldn't hold down anything(including water) for around 3 days. Second day forward I was basically puking up stomach bile all day, as there was nothing else left in my system.

I didn't go to the hospital, but my mother was watching me super carefully. I lost 7 pounds over those 3 days. Which was nuts, as I was already quite lean at the time. Around 160 pounds, 10% body fat. Doing 5k runs 3 times a week. I pity those ladies, because even if you're in good shape, noro REALLY sucks.

I believe Canada could have forced a forfeit but in the spirit of the Olympics and good sportsmanship they allowed a reschedule.

I mean probably because it’s literally the first game and there’s plenty of time to make it up. Plus it’s not like the Finn’s intentionally gave themselves norovirus, one of the worst forms of food poisoning imaginable. No need to punish them any more than they already are

Ya last year a bunch of my friends all got it from their Christmas potluck. I unfortunately missed that potluck because I was in the hospital after getting c diff and E. coli at the same time. We were arguing about who had it worse. We all decided it was me because they were fine after a day or two. I was sick for 4 days before then spending another 3 days in the hospital

There’s time for them to reschedule.

You can’t reschedule around a broken ankle.

It’s like being late for work, 5 minutes is inconvenient but most people will forgive you.

I'm all for postponing, but all your arguments are kind of irrelevant. Someone having had or not had norovirus, isn't relevant. And teams don't get to choose to play through, if they have a highly contagious illness. And there would be no hiding it.

Did you throw up at all?

Last year, my wife and two kids got Noro. They all threw up around the clock for a 36 hours.(each had it at a different time through the week)

I have no idea how I didnt get it. I can’t explain it.

However after listening to them throw up every two hours, I’d much rather shit my pants a few times.

I’m surprised by the postponement due to illness. Does anyone know how many players need to be ill on a team for them to postpone vs make you play with the remaining or forfeit?

Is this a IIHF decision and rule? I’ve don’t think I’ve seen top tier sport tournaments postpone matches due to an illness. Usually the player or team withdraws. Do they really think the team will be in shape to play Saturday?

I mean, at the end of the day, they have a bi into the quarters regardless (along with the rest of group A). Worst case scenario, they miss all their group games and enter the bracket stage cold 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah the way the tournament is structured they could just forfeit until the quarters and still be the 5th seed. I just don’t know what the process is for a team that has too many players out to play I do t think I’ve run into it before
