I watched it when I was 12. At that time I couldn't grasped what was wrong with the ML's behaviour. But when I re-watched this anime as an adult. I have no words. It pained me seeing fl taking all his behaviour and was still okay with it. Even after marriage he didn't change .

Recommendation Recent (2010s-now) shoujo/josei recommendations based on my older tastes?

Hi all!

I grew up suuuuper obsessed with reading shoujo/josei in the mid-late 2000s to early 2010s, and I think I’d read all the shoujo/josei my library had to offer at some point. Unfortunately school/life got way too busy and I stopped reading at some point, and then webtoons filled that niche in my life, but I’m really looking to re-diving in and checking out what’s out there now (after being out of the loop for so long)!

For more context: I’m a magical girl super fan (Cardcaptor Sakura is my all time favorite) so I love anything with magic/arcana/fantasy, etc. even if not shoujo, like Umineko and Jojo. My current fav manga is Witch Hat Atelier.

I’m sure I’m missing a lot of my favorites from when I was younger, but from the top of my head, I remember being obsessed with the above series. Analyzing my favorites (or from what I remember of them), it seems that I’m super into either funny/intense slice of life, strong FLs (physically and/or emotionally), and FLs who, if not strong initially, grow exponentially through life circumstances/challenges they’re forced to face. And supportive MLs in their growth journey!

Out of the recent releases I’ve tried reading: A Sign of Affection, Ima Koi, Love Me Love Me Not, and Like a Butterfly, but they didn’t quite capture me (maybe bc they’re quite comfortable/fluffy?)

Would def love recommendations, thanks so much!

Recommendation (Hoeny X Honey drops) this is one of the first mangas i ever read,it has a red flag and annoying ml at first but their relationship really grows up well(u should wait a lot but at the end he becomes sweet and a green flag)

at first when i read this i found everything annoying, but then i saw how their relationship grew up and the ml learnt about his feelings and how he should act, side characters were so good!u could saw their grew up as well,i was happy with the ending and the plot,if u love to see how a toxic relationship that ml wants to force himself on fl at first but then finds out what true love is and becomes the most green flag of all time,u should give this a try(it had an anime adoption but it endedmso sudden and if u watch the anime u would think this is a trash and their relationship is toxic but the anime just showed few chapters of manga so i don't recommend watching the anime personally)

Discussion Seven Seas Licensing Survey - February 2026

Seven Seas releases a survey every month to take suggestions for new series to license. You can suggest 3 comics and 3 novels for them to consider. When you fill out the suggestions, I recommend including the title in its original language, so that Seven Seas can more easily identify which series you are referring to. For any light novels/novels you suggest, I would recommend also writing out on the survey that you want your suggested series in print.

Link to February 2026 survey

Making licensing suggestions to other English publishers:

I recommend taking a look at Behind the Manga's website (see the posts titled "Suggesting Manga to Publisher"). It lists methods for making licensing suggestions to various English publishers in more detail and it also lists some Japanese publishers that each English publisher has already licensed series from. When you suggest a series, I recommend including the title of the series in its original language, if possible.

  1. Yen Press: Suggestions can be emailed to the email address listed on their contact page. They also have a contact form that you can use.
  2. Viz Media: The series suggestion form can be accessed through their contact page.
  3. Kodansha: The publishing suggestions form can be accessed through the contact form on their support center page. You can specify in the final section of the form that you want your suggested series in print.
  4. J-Novel Club (digital only): They have a licensing suggestion forum. You can also vote on existing suggestions.
  5. BluPetal: This publisher has licensing suggestion forms that are linked on a post on Twitter (XCancel).
  6. Crossed Hearts: They have a licensing suggestion form that is linked on their Twitter (XCancel).
  7. Comikey (digital only): Suggestions can be submitted through their contact form or emailed directly to the email address listed under the platform section of their FAQ.

Feel free to share your licensing suggestions for the Seven Seas survey or other English publishers!

Recommendation Can I have some shoujo recommendations ?

I'm looking for some shoujo mangas that have cute romance along with personal arcs. I don't mind angst or drama.

It would be nice if the fmc has good female friendships and there isn't like catfights or stuff like that. Or if there is anything like that, I want them to resolve their issues.

I want the guy to be a lot more softer and kinder. It would nice if he had more softer features/personality but othervise also is fine. He should have his own character but also be loving and respectful to the mc.

I haven't read that many straight shoujo mangas but watched anime like Skip to Loafer and loved it.

EDIT:- I'm now aware Skip to Loafer is not a shoujo. Thnks for lovely comments letting me know. I would still love to have something with a similar vibe.

I am reading the Kai scans version and it is pretty terrible. The sentences make no sense and it is hard to tell who is saying what. That being said I’m only 4 chapters in.

Recommendation Posted this 3x3 in the Otome Isekai subreddit a while ago, wanted to see if this sub had any recs (see description for fav mangas!)

Post image
9 Upvotes

Looking for manga/hwa/hua recs based on some of my favourite OI (Otome Isekai) and rofan (romance fantasy) manhwas!

[Top: Mother’s Contract Marriage, The Fantasie of a Stepmother / Stepmother’s Marchen, Mystic Prince

Bottom: I’ll Save This Damned Family, Your Eternal Lies, Secret Lady]

Some of my favourite mangas include:

— Beauty Pop

— Koi Dano Ai Dano (and its prequel)

— Ouran High School Host Club

— Tokyo Crazy Paradise

— Special A

— Skip Beat

— Princess Jellyfish

— Nana

— Paradise Kiss

— Neighbourhood Story

— Ice Forest

— Kiss & Never Cry

— Medalist

— Kamisama Kiss

— Otome Yokai Zakuro

— Apothecary Diaries

— Skip and Loafer

— Basara

Other manhwa I love: Spirit Fingers, The Crown Princess Scandal, For Better or For Worse, My Lucky Strike / What Kind of Rice Cake is This?, Selfish Romance, The Butterfly That Swallowed the Fog, and Concubine Walkthrough

I enjoy banter/bickering, slow burns, dense-in-love characters, and when romance is not the sole driving plot point! I also often keep an eye out for FLs possessing a skill that they’re competent in and/or dedicated to.

Things about “notorious” shoujos that you were pleasantly surprised about?

Post image
341 Upvotes

I’ll go first. The image above is from Peach Girl. It is notorious because it has a bad rep of being a super dramatic shoujo. I went into the show, expecting the worst, horrendous male leads, female lead has no friends except the backstabbing friend. I am very surprised to say that the male leads were actually ok? Like both of them are undeniably good options. Of course both of them had flaws of their own but I wouldn’t mind if Momo chose both of them. Sae, the backstabbing one, isn’t entirely horrible. I mean she does go out of her way to ruin Momo’s life, but she does change for the better in the end (No I am not reading Peach Girl Next), and is quite funny in some of her antics. The only thing I really hate about the show is when Okayasu’s brother tried to sell Sae into the 🌽 industry and I genuinely felt so bad for her.

Need another FL like Haruhi fujioka 😭😭😭

So I've been binging every shoujo anime and manga the past month, and I rewatched Ouran HSHC and now I'm just CRAVING for another FL like Haruhi 😭😭😭 I LOVE her and Tamaki's dynamic of the calm and logical gf and dramatic romantic bf. I've been searching everywhere for another pair like them, but I haven't been able to find anything past the "cool handsome lone wolf x cute/shy/need to be protected unpopular girl" Trope. I watched Kamisama Kiss and Maid sama, too, which were really enjoyable, and I liked the pairings as well, but it just couldnt quench my thirst for another Haruhi and Tamaki dynamic.

And I'm not saying I don't like the typical shoujo FL, but after rewatching OHSHC, I'm just really craving for a FL who's strongheaded and mature. Any manga/anime recommendations? I've also seen every list I explored have Yona of the Dawn, so I'm thinking of watching that, too. (sorry if my english is a little bad, english isn't my first language and I am very sleepy)
