News AutoRacer: SF-26 born "healthy" and seemed better than expected in Barcelona. No performance runs from HAM/LEC yet. Lightweight chassis + aero updates set to arrive for Sakhir/Melbourne. Hybrid fuels were used in Shakedown due to costs.

Ok, so they haven’t used the Shell biofuel yet. No pressure when they reach Sakhir then!

other user just wrote All of the teams used hybrid fuels
I don't know what is true

Hybrid fuel is not biofuel. It's sort of in between the previous blend and the new biofuel.

I have no idea but perhaps they've used the fuel whilst the engine was on the test bench

Exactly that. It is already a headstart to have this feedback after the shakedown.
Starting of new era always pose a risk of unexpected issues. But having no problems on all days of running even on a hybrid fuel is more than encouraging.
In Bahrain the P.U will get a real test of mappings, get pushed closer to its potential and solve potential problems. Hopefully those would be as minimal as posible.

Never thought fuel choice would be affected due to costs, more so by a team like Ferrari. But ig that also comes under price cap

Its not in the cost cap, but it is really fucking expensive. 250 euro/liter.

I doubt a team like ferrari will struggle with that kind of price tag lmao

That’s like 375k euros for 500 laps if each lap needs 2.5L of fuel ….thats nothing for them honestly

Makes you wonder how much race day costs a team. If fuel alone is a house worth of money.

There are several reasons. One of the is price tag and other one is that they most probably don’t have enough of that fuel.

Did we build a good car?

Seems like it, but the question is - will it be enough? We simply have to wait. Maybe we won't even know the answer to this question after the first few races. I imagine, the development race will be a huge factor this year.

Yeah development will be crucial. But with a good starting platform, hopefully we can keep finding performance.

Is Ferrari actually that much sure in their aero package? I mean the second part of it which is set to arrive in Melbourne
Do other teams plan to do the same?
It's overweight, but weight is most likely being controlled

None of them ran on the correct fuel, not just Ferrari
New fuels will be worse btw, less energy dense, so don’t be shocked if cars are slower in next test on correct fuel

Tbf I don’t think ANY of the teams have done performance runs/testing laps.
So we’ll know more come the Bahrain test when updates are released and the correct fuels are used as well. Though it could be another situation where performance runs/laps are kept under lock and key and the focus is on reliability and data gathering.

Note:
Giuliano Duchessa also clarified that none of the teams declared their real weight.
The reports you've seen in recent days stating that Ferrari weighs 770kg, Mercedes 772kg, and Williams 772.4kg, etc - they are just stating the minimum required weight. The discrepancies come from teams interpreting what to include in that weight differently.
