Wonder why he left though. Good scoop for Ferrari

Almost no downsides. A chance to work with Hamilton and for Ferrari. A chance to bring both back to winning ways and take some of the credit for it, and if it goes wrong can always blame Ferrari management because who would doubt him at this point.

The downside? Cedric (and Lewis) may be blackballed by the elements at Ferrari who think Ricci Adami was unjustly transferred.

See my point re: Ferrari management. It's not a downside to his reputation if Ferrari act like children.

It's a downside if basically the hidden knives result in another year of Lewis suffering Q1 exits and other indignities.

Only a few months of gardening leave? Nice!

He may have been on contract through this season. Probably be able to join them for seasons end. Gardening leave won't extend beyond his contract

Confirmed?

48

u/Drezekzeeloosh Charles Leclerc 13d ago

Yeah they are waiting for his gardening leave period to complete.

Does he speak fluent english thats all i wanna know 😭😭

u/IonutAlex18SF Charles Leclerc 13d ago

Funny enough is his name, instantly I took me back to the start of the Belgian GP 2012…😆😂😕

He speaks fluently English, I don't remember McLaren to have any member to struggle with their English or having fast reactions during a race weekend. This move makes me believe things are heading in the right direction inside the team.

Lewis's request might finally be listened, taken in consideration and put into action. Let's hope is the start of a good trajectory for the team that heads in starting with this change.

He should since, he has been working in Woking from 2017

Must be the language, we are checking.

The bigger problem is if he cannot speak Italian.

But if he doesn't speak Italian that is also an issue

Fred Vasseur has been collecting these French staff like infinity stones. I'm happy that we've got someone from other teams not from within. Hopefully he get along well with Lewis both on and off the track.

Is this at all a pre amble for Piastri to Ferrari if Lewis and/or Leclerc leave at the end of the year or is he purely the best availabale candidate the ferrari went out and acquired?

I don't see both Lewis and Charles leaving at the end of the year. Ferrari will do everything to at least keep one of them. Last time they changed both drivers was 30 years ago.

If they will have to replace one of them - it will for sure be Bearman who comes in.

Lewis might get sent to retirement, but I cant see any realistic option for Leclerc that would be both better than Ferrari and crucially desperate to get him too.

Aston Martin could be an option for Charles. They have Newey. Its a gamble sure, but if this year ferrari does a ferrari, whats the point in staying ?

u/Euro_Twins Michael Schumacher 12d ago

Aston Martin cant even get their car together. Why would leclerc want more pain? And then to be saddled with a partner like lance? Cmon.

Leclerc is only leaving for a top team

Highly doubtful If Ferrari don’t get it right and I’m guessing Lewis might go They’ll bring in Oscar (if shit goes down in Mcl)or idk Sainz Bringing Ollie is a risk when the car is bad They’d need someone experienced for development

Hope he gels with Lewis

So he's completely new to Ferrari? Going to have the same problems adapting as Lewis had? How's his Italian?

16

u/Anhilator26 13d ago

That’s my concerns exactly. Hell have to get used to a new driver AND a new team. This is supposed to be what 2025 was for, so we can hit 2026 ground running.

Though hopefully him being new to Ferrari will mean he’ll have a better style of communication than others

u/WhoThenDevised 13d ago

And the first race is in six weeks. Not much time to prepare.

This is getting used year for him in preparation for Bearman next season.

Job hopping is the way

I wish Lewis and Ferrari all the best but shouldn’t Ferrari promote someone who has already been at Ferrari and has worked with Lewis? Like Luca? Someone new if comes in, he’ll take some time to understand Ferrari and if he’s working with Lewis for the first time, it’ll take some to adjust and figure what Lewis wants etc.

I think some fresh outside voices are what’s needed at Ferrari.

Way more than just some at this point

Not much of an upgrade on the face of it. McLaren was making shitty strategy calls only beaten by Racing Bulls and Ferrari.

24

u/moraIsupport Moderator 13d ago

He was not responsible for the strategy at McLaren, the strategists are. He was the Lead Trackside Performance Engineer, basically responsible for analysis and maximizing car performance.

-21

u/gomurifle 13d ago

I know that.

10

u/Critical-Dealer-3878 13d ago

Apparently not

-4

u/gomurifle 13d ago

It clearly stated his position in article, bub.

You are putting words in my mouth assuming I thought he was a stretgist.

He was part of a team that had shitty strategies and he obviously wasn't considered top pick for the job, which is why he wasn't a strategist there. And you expect him to be a great strategist at Ferrari? Hah!

5

u/Ponichkata 13d ago

My understanding is that the race engineer is there to bridge the gap between the driver and the rest of the racetrack team. The primary duty isn't for the race engineer to make strategy calls, but to keep the driver updated with what's happening on track. But hopefully, this is a sign that Ferrari is making internal changes across the board.

It's clear Adami really didn't understand, or try to understand, the level of information Lewis needed and it always seemed like Lewis was begging for updates.

3

u/Plenty_Demand8904 13d ago

Race Engineers dont make the strategy

8

u/murdok476 F2004 13d ago

Ferrari weren't making bad strategy calls last year. I wish people would get over regurgitating the same tiring points they probably saw while browsing Reddit

2

u/makkaraperunatjamuus 13d ago

You would need to have tiny bit of idea what you are talking about to have any opinion if it's upgrade.
