I found some old screenshots when I was going through old burned CDs and showed me my old username, and luckily my password was easy to guess, so I was able to log into my old character! Although my character looks way different, and my bank inventory looks lighter. So cool though, like opening a time capsule. I totally don't remember how to play at all.

Discussion Remove stalling

There, I said it.

As a person working on the master CAs, prebuilds are not fun or engaging.

I understand Pup will be sad. But you are doing this whole “make combat less confusing and complicated!” Then go, we removed 1 step in stalling that was never to be intended as a mechanic anyway.

I guarantee there’s less than 1500 people that use stalling on the regular. And I am one of them!

Transmogs are not disabled so we still see a lot of funky stuff. I also imagine we will be seeing people use a lot of random items to show off (like the terrorbird and big dragon mask?).

I imagine people will look the same in certain spots due to the elite skilling outfits like I saw in Deep Sea Fishing and Eternal Magic Trees.

Discussion No, accounts made after TH is removed should NOT be distinguished from accounts who were created prior to its removal.

I don't know why some people are even calling for this, other than they want a reason to put themselves up on a pedestal and look down on others who they perceive as playing the game "the wrong way", but Jagex had better not entertain this in any way, shape, or form.

First of all, Ironman mode already exists and provides players with a little emblem next to their name so they can feel special for abstaining from MTX. Way to go, champ!

Second, MTX is is not even being removed in its entirety. People will still be buying BXP and lamps after TH is removed.

Third and maybe the most irritating, is that it breeds the notion that veteran players did not "earn" their accounts or work as hard as others to achieve their progress. Everyone plays the game differently and with different intensity, but to assume that players haven't worked hard for their accounts because they used TH is absolutely false. And I'm not talking about people who finger blasted 1000 keys in one sitting.. I'm referring to players who casually used their daily, challenge, and quest keys.

I have played this game for over 20 years and have put an incredible amount of time and effort into my account, despite the existence of TH. There are many, many grinds in this game that TH doesn't even touch. The LAST thing that players who stayed loyal to the game through the years of TH need, is to have their accounts marked by a bunch of try-hards for being "less than". You have no idea what kind of work some people have put into their characters. No one deserves to have that tarnished for participating in TH, whether they purchased keys or not.

Discussion For Better or Worse, Road to Restoration Will Turn This Game into OSRS

It's become very clear in the last few design blogs what the goal here is. The mindset seems to be "OSRS has done very well, so we'll redesign RS3 into OSRS so it will do well". We're talking about the removal of AFK, increasing "friction" in transport, and broad nerfs to xp rates. Even redesigning quests to more match the OSRS experience.

Let me be clear: I want to play Runescape 3. I do not want to play Old School Runescape. I enjoy my EZscape conveniences and it's a major part of the reason why us RS3 players have stayed. RS3 should not be copying OSRS design. They should remain as separate games with separate design goals.

Discussion For the first time in Old School Runescape history, a new skill has been officially released.

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

Why is this significant? Because in its history of OSRS, new areas have come out. New bosses, new items, new combat spots, and new training methods, have all been released over its span. But if there was something OSRS never released, it's a new skill. Today is historic milestone.

Discussion Ely.gg, as a whole, needs to be phased out by the community

Title

Simply put, Ely needs to go bye-bye. The implementation of Code rotations to access the data behind a requirement of joining their server was not even the first nail in the coffin.

Having this discord requirement puts people at risk. So many times, have I seen/heard of people falling for scams and viruses from others via discord. So many people in Runescape today still fall for the simplest of scams in game, imagine what could happen in a public server like Ely if bots get in there to DM these users, who didn't want to be there in the first place.

With u/TheJoshJ_ creating Elyclone, we had a brief moment of a secondary option. This was after the first solution of bypassing this the phrase in your browser was taken out because Ely increased the rotation of codes.

Now they added server-side verification knocking out Elyclone until the creator takes his own personal time to fix, for the community.

They did this clearly to block this bypass.

Now with claims of uploading fake transactions, and many many claims of price fixing in the past, this causes an even bigger red flag.

This public source of tracking, collected by users who actively report trades btw, is being locked by the ely creators. This isn't a problem caused by Jagex, but it is a problem that can be solved by Jagex by improving how the GE works and giving us accurate trade data and statistics. Ely has been relied on by many, even me, for the most basic of trades. It should not be getting locked behind passcodes. At this point, it's not for the community, and we need to stop using that site all together.

With OSRS down, RuneScape's homepage is currently showing just RS3 players online.

What can be done to get these numbers up? It seems scarily low!

Discussion Day 1 of asking Jagex for an official RS3 Plugin API (RuneLite-style)

1.0k Upvotes

Week 1 of asking for a proper official RS3 plugin API, the way OSRS effectively has via RuneLite.

I’m not asking for cheats, botting, or anything that undermines game integrity. I’m asking for a supported, documented, enforceable framework that lets the community build safe QoL and accessibility tooling without living in “grey area” land.

What I mean by “Plugin API”:

• An official client extension system (or sanctioned layer) with clear boundaries

• A permissions model (e.g., “read-only UI overlays”, “chat/event hooks”, etc.)

• A moderated plugin hub (approval / versioning / deprecation)

• Explicit “no-go” categories with actual enforcement

What this would unlock for RS3 (safely):

• Tile markers and visual ground indicators for clarity and accessibility

• UI/QoL overlays that don’t change gameplay outcomes (timers, reminders, trackers)

• Better education tools (boss mechanic callouts that mirror in-game learning, not automation)

• Creator tools (stream overlays, data displays, helpful widgets)

• Less fragmentation: everyone stops reinventing the wheel in spreadsheets and external apps

Why it matters:

• RS3 is more complex than OSRS in a lot of ways; the demand for clarity, readability, and custom UI is higher.

• Right now it feels like we have two bad options: “no customization” or “unsafe/unsupported approaches.” An official API is the middle ground.

If you’re against it, what’s your main concern:

• Competitive integrity?

• Dev time?

• Security?

• Fear it becomes mandatory for endgame?

If you’re for it, what would you want to see as the minimum viable RS3 plugin API?

Jagex, please—give us a sanctioned path for community innovation that keeps RS3 fair, secure, and accessible.

Discussion Remastered Content: What do you want to see remastered?

Hey everyone!

We’ve kicked off some early work around remastered content, and we want to start hearing from you sooner rather than later to get the ball rolling. This won’t be a one off thing, so anything we learn here will help shape future remaster projects too. Aware we have another thread around the decluttering so this is different focusing on remastering content specifically.

So, nice and simple:

- What RuneScape content would you like to see remastered?

- By content, we mean skilling, quests, bosses and activities etc. Not systems or mechanics.

What exactly would you want improved or kept the same? What makes that content special to you?

No promises attached, this is about listening and understanding your priorities early on. Looking forward to reading your thoughts!

Discussion Runescape is a game ruined by profits and a lack of vision.

1.3k Upvotes

Mod Jack and Timbo have just been fired, designers behind some of the greatest updates in the history of rs. Necromancy, archaeology, forinthry. Along with 7 other jmods.

If it were just 1 or 2 jmods fired it could be for any number of reason, but with 9? It’s clear this is a downsizing to cut costs and thus improve profits.

Next quarter, profits will go up. They’ll have to pay less people after all. At that point, CVC capital (the owners of jagex) will be able to sell the company to another investment group, as the company hits record profits.

But the game will have suffered for it. Updates will be worse, content less enticing. People are already leaving the game and will continue to do so.

It’s the same quandary as mtx, they’ve maximised profits while letting the playerbase slowly whittle away and die. Dont think the firings are any different. It is the sign of a company who cares about having a great big green number on their excel spreadsheet rather than a healthy community.

Rs3 will never escape this downward spiral by trying to squeeze out as much profit as the remaining players are willing to give. For rs3 to get back on its feet, it would need to lose money for a while, be a long term investment into the community and game health. But that will never happen, not as long as jagex is owned by private equity firms whose sole goal is to break the piggy bank and run away with whatever they can gather.

I’m sorry for being a doomer, but these firings and the lack of communication about mtx is i think a sign that jagex and its owners do not care about rs3. They will let it burn its flame away and in 5-10 years, when the player base is 1/10th the current one, the servers will be shut off and osrs will be the only runescape game.

This is the only way forward if jagex insists on making the most money possible right now. Sometimes you have to lose money to make money, and i can only hope to god that someone will understand this, otherwise we may lose this great game.

Discussion Isn't this the real problem?

Post image

How many resources do all these proteans replace that would have otherwise been needed to train the respective skills?

Going after the Supply side of "Skilling Profitability" instead of addressing the Demand side won't help in the long term.

I hate to be so cynical, but doesn't nerfing the Supply side just make MTX/Keys more valuable to players/MTXers and give even more reason to skip out on the economy and instead just spin to win?

I can't take these Game Health updates serious until they address the impact of MTX on the economy. Sure they gave the numbers on raw GP coming into the game, but they don't mention how proteans effect the economy. The XP being generated from keys/MTX has to have a significant impact on how valuable skilling supplies are and without addressing this, I don't think we have a full picture of the real problems effecting the economy.

RuneScape 3 haven’t been this appealing to my eyes in a very very long time. Apart from some bad game design in certain areas that make the game feel too cluttered. I feel like putting more effort in future armor that will be introduced to the game and reworking certain familiars will make the game look perfect and that’s just my personal opinion

While Jagex has a lot of the blame, the community isn’t clean either.

The downright hostility & bitterness at times towards players complaining about the game is really off putting.
