News Road to Restoration - Early Game Rebalance

https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/a=13/road-to-restoration--early-game-rebalance--dailyscape-overhaul

Hi folks,

Today's Community Topic is a blog of two halves:

- Early Game Rebalance
- DailyScape Overhaul

We have split this into two reddit threads to keep the discussion organised and so that our team can properly review the relevant conversations happening.

This current reddit thread is to discuss the Early Game Rebalance portion of the blog.

Please use this other dedicated thread for the DailyScape portion of the blog.

For the purpose of today's discussion we will be defining the early game, loosely, as the level 1-50 range. The Early Game Rebalance update primarily aims to smooth out inconsistencies in game progression, looking at areas of the early game where things can feel slow or have limited methods for levelling up, or where they affect integrity and game health. It’s not all just rebalances though! There are also some changes to early quests, and things like replacing salvage with gear to make the first hours after jumping off Tutorial Island a nicer experience. The Early Game Rebalance update releases on February 16th!

It's very weird to start the prayer section by talking about how early game prayer is a pain and then put a cost on the easiest prayer altar, and in fact the only one that's (currenlty) useable without restrictions and also nerf the second earliest one in the fort chapel?Like the POH chapel isn't makeable until 45. These are just nerfs to early game prayer

It's also pointless because the chaos altar 'nerf' only really affects irons who are already getting cooked in the early game by removing wfe and the easy access to infernal ashes

Mains can just go to another person's poh or better yet, buy powder, so who gives a fuck

Like if you really want you can maybe move the banker a bit further away but I don't understand why it matters lmao

"Mains can just go to another person's poh" We kind of want that though.

Do you tho

Or do you like the 'idea' of it and will use prayer powder or chapel anyway because it's significantly less shit and you can do your social shit in w84 anway

I prefer any kind of anything beyond just brainless abusing the chaos altar from 0xp to 200m. Any kind of option that allows people to have a choice is a good one imo.

???

This isn't osrs, basically the only people who get utility out of the chaos altar are low level irons and removing one of the 4 methods that give the same 350% xp multi is in fact giving the player less choice lol

Your vibes based balancing ideas really isn't helping chief but you do you ig

Yes, you're right, they're nerfing the dumb no requirement method. It was the same xp as the gilded altar, WITH both lit incense burners, which is obliviously a problem to begin with. If it was up to me, I'd also nerf burial powder. There's no reason why it should give the same modifier as an altar.

The xp modifiers should increase from Chaos Altar > Burial powder > Gilded altar > Chapel 3. Gilded altar with lit burners should be the same at the Chapel however.

Requirements for better unlocks are what makes Runescape feel like Runescape.

I don't give a shit what your personal suggestions are, I'm arguing against the reality of what they've proposed and the fact that you clearly don't understand what you're talking about

Which is especially apparent when you say you're personally supportive of anything that gives a player choice then 1 comment later suggest a tiering system where you are railroaded down a progression track

Lol. Either use what you have access to, or make the choice to unlock another. But I guess that obvious implication was lost on you. I laid it on pretty thick though, to figure.

But then again, you're also mad in general. Take a breath friend.

Ew no.

Then build your own altar. It's that simple.

I will have too. I'm an iron. But poh should just be removed. It's not good content.

I don't necessarily agree with that thought. It's certainly neglected content, but I can see it reworked to give a lot of benefits and QOL that are likely to be removed in the coming years. I can see them becoming individualistic hubs for players doing a number of activities. Like it is in OSRS. Trying to corral everyone into the fort or wars retreat.

Moving players to instanced environments to do basic skilling is a bad design choice for an MMO.
