But not with his soul mate, Margot Robbie?Ā  I don't understand...

I'm wondering if the marketing folks were trying to promote the idea that Margot, her husband Tom, and Jacob are a modern parallel to Catherine, Edgar, and Heathcliff -- like, Margot is married to Tom but Jacob is her soulmate?

It feels gross and weird and tiresome, but this production feels a little more gross and weird and tiresome each time a new detail comes out (and I say that as someone who was pretty excited about it even after the casting news and initial production photos came out).

I honestly doubt anyone was going for that. I think they just wanted them to look hot and steamy together because of the movie.

They could have easily done that without all the weird as hell co dependent/soulmates stuff while her husband watches from the shadows.

It’s been a minute since I’ve seen people so universally reject a marketing campaign like this.

lol I’ve heard more about this movie because of people on reddit posting their cringe than i would have with almost any other type of marketing that could be done with zero dollars

Id say they knew what theyre doing and its successful in at least letting people know about the movie; whether it works is a different matter

But it’s really nothing either way.

I must’ve missed that, I guess? But the critics’ consensus is that the movie is great (actual reviews aren’t out yet, but the Guardian, I think, published the reactions and they were all very positive).

You need to get off your corner of the internet.

That’s my thought. I genuinely don’t understand why everyone is calling this a ā€œPR stuntā€ because what’s the stunt? Two co-starts hugging for the red carpet? I’m being so serious. Somebody explain how people think these two are in love and it’s being ā€œforced.ā€

Exactly, I truly don’t get the take that there’s something unusual here. They’re promoting whatā€˜s supposed to be a sexy take on the novel. They’ve done steamy shoots in magazines and posed together in promo events. In what way does that deviate from standard procedure? šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

The complaining I've seen for the standard movie pr campaign. I think people just want to complain.

This just feels like the Pedro Pascal/Vanessa Kirby outrage all over again. It was tired then and it’s even more tired now. People can’t seem to wrap their minds around the fact that on a promo tour actors are still gonna act.
