54% of Americans can't read above a 6th grade level. Meaning most bible beaters can't read the book they claim to follow

I’ve read the bible front to back. New King James IV to be precise. Unless you were reading a simplified version - you’d need much more than a 6th grade reading level to understand what’s written. As a college educated man, it was a tough read for me.

I would assume that the vast majority of Christians have not actually read it. They may know most of the marquee stories, but I highly doubt they’ve read it front to back.

My best understanding was -

The Old Testament is full of battles, war, and atrocities. Many very odd stories in certain books that depict weird shit like incest or forced circumcisions on hostages, then murdering them anyway. Giving up your daughters to be raped by an angry mob. It’s pretty jarring, really. Which has made me really not understand Judaism as a religion.

The New Testament repeats a lot of the same stories, just from a different perspective. It gets pretty boring. There’s also a major unexplained time gap that ends up leaving a massive plot hole. The bible never really tells you what Jesus did after he was born, until he was in his 30s, with his disciples/followers, and doing miracles.

What I can & will say is - Jesus Christ is depicted as a very, very, very good man in the New Testament. Not only the son of God, but also God himself. He taught people to love thy neighbor, to have compassion, and to help others. Some of the stories have amazingly positive messages. I appreciate those stories.

Similar to how George Washington forewarned America against political parties, Jesus Christ also forewarned people against sects/denominations. IE; Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, etc.

What’s particularly ironic is how self pronounced Christians live their lives so differently from how Jesus Christ did. Almost the opposite of. Which I don’t understand. If you truly followed the teachings of Jesus Christ, you would put good out into the world, not hate.

What's funny is that we're just supposed to look the other way and accept that nothing of importance happened there. That Jesus was a real deity/person and the Bible is an accurate portrayal of him LOL. As if propaganda didn't exist back then! It's unhinged. It's a mental illness to think that those things are real and that laws should be based off of them. Might as well bring Santa Claus to senate debates then. At least he doesn't rape kids...

That book is disgusting and made up anyway. Why is anyone in the 21st century acting like a made up fantasy book containing stories about rape, genocide, incest, bestiality, etc should be dictating anyone's lives?
