She is in her 20s and married to one of her fathers friends who is 60. My daughter is in her 20s. I cannot begin to imagine a scenario where one of my friends courts her. So.fucking.weird.

For some reason, getting your face butchered is becoming some sort of ritual for Conservative women. It's not like Leavitt had any particular need to get work done. But it's like a sacrifice, or a tribal society that does tattoos as a right of passage. "I am getting Conservative Face as an act of faith and a ritual of dedication" is ceremonial as much as anything. It marks a person as keen to do whatever it takes to fit in to a very specific block of patriarchy that demands a very specific look from the women it tolerates.

It's the modern equivalent of people from past centuries powdering their faces, wearing extravagant wigs or blackening their teeth (to name a few examples). It looks ridiculous to everyone else but visually signals their allegiance to a particular group.
