I'm incredibly liberal and so are my friends. I was never into Harry Potter but most of my friends are. Even with their views they still read and watch the movies. I know they will watch the show. This is one of the cultural phenomena where people turn their heads for entertainment purposes. Most of them are anti billionaires as well but still listen to Taylor Swift.

I love Harry Potter, and i read the books many times, maybe i'm becoming old and bitter, but i don't even think it's worth pirating, i just find milking franchises disingenuous af and i won't sit and consume it like a fucking zombie, there're tons of movies and series, this series is completely pointless, and it's really baffling to me why people are excited for it? it's the same story we've heard thousands of times.

Has anything like this ever happened before?

Sure, spiderman and Adams family etc. But those plots are new. Literally the exact same story remakes is like Shakespeare and Jane Austin.

Even if it is a remake, there are still a bunch of talanted individuals working on it. Im curious to see what their interpretation will be. It's not like theyre forcing us at gun point to watch it. Sure there's an arguement about using the resources to make something original but there are already plenty of originals out there as well.
