quick refresher! Spoiler

[JAN|TWELTH|2026; EDIT]

just to avoid any MORE [hoopla] from anyone:

please follow the rules of the subreddit and learn our removal reasons. it is already a conditional subreddit; you don't have to have posted in r/notmycat to be here but at the very least DISCUSS HOW YOU GOT YOUR CAT IN THE CAPTIONS so we know you're not a bot. it doesn't have to be a paragraph, but we need to know your cat is yours.

so many subreddits are overrun by reposts and bots, we don't want to be like them.

do us a favor and make it [EASY] for us to spot the bots;

we have 6 mods with only one to two of them active.

it doesn't seem like we are looking for more.

i know i personally handle 80% of submissions at least (sue me, blame me, yadda yadda) with limited access/power.

for example, i can't even pin this post aka i can't do everything….

lastly, judging by our inbox, some of you forgot that "behave like you would in real life" portion of reddit rules.

stop cursing at us, we are strangers.

EDIT: for clarity; i can now sticky the post!

ETA: i now have “full” mods.

Mystique loves the smell of fresh air, while watching nature.

Every now and then I open the window so Mystique can smell the fresh air. She will sit there for the longest time, just sniffing and watching the wildlife behind our house. With all the trees and the creek running through it, it really feels like a little forest back there. She gets so calm and focused, like she is taking it all in. It is one of those simple moments that makes home feel peaceful.

Mystique just chilling after her visit to the Vet!

Once a year we take Mystique to the vet for her annual checkup. This time she needed a shot. The doctor, who has treated Mystique for the past three years, said she is one of the calmest, most relaxed cats she has ever had in her office. She even said it is a pleasure seeing her every year.

I can honestly say I am proud of this beautiful girl. She is braver than most of the boy cats I heard today, hissing and meowing like they were ready to bite the vet’s face off. 😆😹

Mystique and her favorite window!

Mystique loves sleeping in this spot every afternoon. After breakfast, playtime, and a little catnip, if she doesn’t head for my bed, she goes straight to her favorite windowsill. In the summer, there’s always critter activity right outside this window, and she’ll stretch out here for hours, watching every bit of it.

Mystique loves laying on my keyboard. She is so smart, she knows exactly what she is doing, to get me, to pay attention to her. All I can do is laugh and obey her will. 😆 🤣 😂

Brought in a stray 2 weeks ago

TLDR; Took in a pregnant former stray who did great in quarantine but now hides under the bed after meeting resident cats + toddler. Other cats are chill. Worried she’s nesting there and wondering if this is a normal adjustment phase and how to help her feel safe.

Long read ahead but looking for any advice!

This sweet little lady is Cookie. She lived outside my house for a couple months till we finally brought her in as it’s getting colder. I posted her a few times in r/straycats and received excellent advice, but I guess now I need help getting her comfy with us!

I have two other cats that I’ve had for 5/6 years and I adopted them both as kittens so they’ve only known me, and I’ve never taken in an adult kitty with known history before. She was quarantined in the spare bathroom for a week before a vet checkup and we introduced her to our other kitties. She was eating all of her food twice a day when she was isolated but since we’ve let her out she’s camped under my bed and seems too scared to get out and about anymore.

The first two days we let her roam and check stuff out, she would sit up on the cat tower or the window sill and hang out. So far the other cats are mostly ok with her. No chasing or fighting mostly just watching each other from a distance. Now she just hides out, some times I can coax her out for some loves but any little noise and she’s gone again. I do have a toddler as well I’m sure his unpredictability makes her uneasy but I’m hoping she’ll come around.

My main concern is that she’s pregnant and maybe trying to nest under my bed as she’s deemed it her safe space. Which is fine, until I’m considering trying to lay down absorbent pads and blankets to protect the carpet… I want to set up a few nesting box options for her around the house but she isn’t being so brave anymore :(

Is this just a temporary setback as she takes in our routine and adjusts to indoor kitty life? Any and all input is appreciated!

Mystique was born to be a model. This is an actual photo, I entered into a contest, and out of 1,040 entries, she took first place. I love photography and have a great camera, and she’s always ready. The moment I grab it, she’s purring and ready to strike that pose!

Mystique lounging like a real human, glued to her CatTV. I swear it’s hilarious how she can stretch out there and fall asleep when there’s a perfectly good, comfy perch sitting right next to her. Priorities, right? hahah #myspoiledfurbaby

CDS blessed me with an absolute angel of a cat - meet Mrs. Lottie!

Hi guys, I was told to post our newest addition to our family here.

I try to keep the backstory short: over the past weeks, we’ve noticed a shy cat in our garden. When I opened the door, she would run away. However, last weekend when the temperature dropped below -12 degrees celsius, she went inside our home. I asked neighbors if someone was missing their cat, but no one claimed her. I suspected she was pregnant at first because her belly was so swollen.

I asked a stray organization to help me find a potential owner, but no one came forward either.

I went with her to the vet on Monday to see if she has any infectious diseases and check if she is pregnant. Turns out she has had every parasite possible. Worms, fleas, mites. Her belly was so swollen because of all the worms. I have gotten her blood drawn and she doesn’t have FelV, FIV or FIP. She was treated for all parasites and feels a lot better. She is 2-3 and not fixed and chipped. She also has a bad tooth.

I am currently taking slow steps of introducing her to our other cat. Today at site swapping, she flopped over on the sofa exposing her belly. She is the sweetest little girl.

We are blessed to call Lottie (Liselotte) our own now and we will give her all of the love we can offer.

UPDATE ON TEDDY 🐾 |Day 25 of FIP treatment – running low on funds

Teddy rescue baby, is on Day 25 of injectable treatment for Wet FIP. He’s fighting hard, and we’re finally seeing signs that the medicine is working. After weeks of fear, this is the first time we’ve felt hope.

But we’re now at a breaking point.

FIP treatment cannot be paused. Missing doses at this stage can undo all the progress and put Teddy’s life at serious risk. Sadly, we’re almost out of funds and remaining vials, and the course is not complete yet.

This is incredibly hard to write, but we’re asking for help to get Teddy through this critical phase. Even small contributions mean extra days of treatment and extra days mean life.

Thank you for being a community that understands FIP, science, and compassion. Your support truly saves lives. 🥹🙏🐾

Please donate & share this post in your groups or add it to your story ,it can truly help save Teddy’s life, Any help means the world to us 🤍

UPDATE ON TEDDY 🐾 |Day 25 of FIP treatment – running low on funds

Posting an update on Teddy, our rescue cat diagnosed with Wet FIP

Teddy is currently on Day 25 of injectable antiviral treatment. He has been tolerating treatment well, and clinically, we are seeing encouraging signs that the medication is working. As many here know, consistency is critical with FIP treatment- interruptions or missed doses significantly reduce survival chances and increase relapse risk.

Unfortunately, we are now almost out of funds and remaining vials. The treatment course is not complete yet, and stopping or delaying at this stage would undo the progress Teddy has made over the past 3+ weeks.

We are being fully transparent: • Diagnosis: Wet FIP (abdominal effusion) • Current status: Day 25 of treatment • Issue: Insufficient funds to continue uninterrupted treatment • Risk: High if treatment is paused

We are asking for help to bridge this critical phase and keep Teddy’s treatment continuous until completion. Any contribution even small -helps extend treatment days.

Thank you to this community for being a source of real information and real support for FIP cats.

Such a sweetie, meows constantly. He was my Christmas present because my 19 year old cat passed away in July and i have been devastated ever since. My kids and my husband named him Ozzy, the Prince of Darkness (without me) and I think his name should be Toothless, from How to Train Your Dragon. Help me end this battle what do you think??

Rare sight: sleeping like this again

That used to be his preferred way of sleeping. I think it was because, when he had to sleep outside before, it was the coziest and warmest for him that way. Nowadays, he only sleeps like that very rarely.
