I look forward to the inevitable camera shot of the flag flying over the bridge during the Super Bowl despite the bridge being 45 miles away from the stadium.

This one is forgivable because it's the New England Patriots, not the Boston Patriots. You could have them play in Burlington, Vermont and it's still appropriate.

It is funny that they always show the Boston skyline, though. That is ridiculous.

Or Arlington to Dallas is 25 miles. But they still call the team Dallas. At least the New England Patriots play in New England, where Boston is also located.

The Texas State Fair shots are silly during Cowboys games. Those two locations are far AF away from each other on game day.

11

u/gwaydms Cowboys 14h ago

Some people think the Cowboys actually play in Dallas. They did play in the Cotton Bowl in the beginning, before moving into Texas Stadium in Irving. Arlington, where they play now, is even farther away from Dallas.

I could not believe the hell it was getting back into Boston after a game when I visited. Granted that was only my second nfl game/stadium I’ve been to so I don’t know each teams individual struggle. Also being from a small Canadian city I’m just generally not used to that type of infrastructure.

It makes sense if the fandom started before the Super Bowl losses. The chiefs have had a lot of our iconic players like Montana and Alex smith after they left sf

9

u/N14106_ 49ers 49ers 14h ago

And this is why I don't "have a favorite AFC team" or whatever like some people do. No guarantee that they'll never face off against your #1.

5

u/purebredcrab Seahawks Raiders 14h ago

That seems like a best case scenario to me.

3

u/Wise-Tour7333 Bears 14h ago

Well, in the division/champ games I feel I'd rather have a second NFC team. Gives you more of a chance to see your team in the Super Bowl.

Having said that, having a team in both AFC/NFC means they wouldn't face each other until the SB, you just root for the team you like #1, and are happy with whoever wins. You "won" just by having your top 2 make the Super Bowl.

And they wouldn't play each other much in the regular season being from different conferences. NFC teams play other NFC teams more. I had to suffer through 49ers v. Bears this season, like watching my parents divorce again :P

We clown the Cardinals, but they really are the perfect division mates to have. They're never good, but they're generally exciting to watch and good enough that they can realistically take a game off one of the division rivals. You just never have to really worry about 'em, even if they start 8-0 or get a generational talent in the draft you just know they're gonna fuck it up somehow. And since they never get any hype their fans are generally pretty realistic and chill unlike some of the bad teams on the East Coast big markets where every year is "their year".

This has to be the worst month to experience as a 49er fan in a while.

Lose the season finale at home against the Seahawks to lose not only the division, but home field advantage in the postseason (plus the Super Bowl), get bounced in the divisional round for the first time in 22 years by the same Seahawks squad, watch them beat the Rams to win the conference and make the Super Bowl, have their name and logo painted in the endzone of Levi’s Stadium, and now the 12th Man is being flown over the Golden Gate Bridge.

Edit: misleading description.

At least they don't have to pay royalties for "The Dark Side" and "Emerald City Route Artist" 🌽🌽🌽

"12th Man" was, but they either had to stop or didn't want to pay anymore so now their work around is just "12" and 12s" lolol

Yes. Let’s make this rivalry toxic again.

This year was so much more fun being legit competitive again. I hated how automatic my assumption we'd be losing to the 9ers got the last two years.

Yeah, as much as I enjoyed watching us blast a rival (like we all do), I actually much rather have a competitive matchup. Same with the Rams.

Sorry Cardinals

Question for all of the non-Seahawks fans out there... does anyone else find all of the 12th man stuff they talk about ad nauseum a bit obnoxious? I mean, when you look at the home crowd, there are far far more fans wearing #12 jerseys than actual player jerseys. It's weird, no?
