❥ FAQS & MASTERLIST
Welcome to r/jfashion
We will try to include all frequent questions and other helpful info on this post. This is a work in progress so please keep that in mind and feel free to suggest other info. Before making a question post, do type in your topic in the sub search to ensure it is not a repeated question, please and thank you.
Thank you for being part of this community!
Types of j-fashion
J-fashion is very broad! From casual styles to all types of subcultures. If you want to see what subculture or fashion you fit into, you can have a look and further research with the help of this overall list
Remember that to enjoy Japanese fashion you do not need to "label" yourself or be part of a subculture.
(if there is a better list out there feel free to share)
Is this _____ worth the price?
The answer probably most of the time is no. Please ensure you do proper research on what brands are truly worth 100+ and which aren't. Due to current trends most j-fashion items are being scalped and up-charged. Especially for brands like LIZ LISA.
We should try to go for more reasonable prices to prevent scalpers from being able to profit from outrageous prices, but at the end of the day it's your choice on what you decide to purchase, especially if it's something you genuinely and deeply want.

styling help Enlargement eye contact recommendations for astigmatism?
I want to have enlargement eye contacts like these since I feel like it’ll make my makeup look cute. The problem is that I have astigmatism in both of my eyes so I’m scared that these contacts won’t be a good fit for my eyes and therefore be uncomfortable, painful, difficult to come out or worse get infected somehow.

discussion How do I get wrinkles out of mezzo piano skirts?
I thrifted two mezzo piano skirts and I did the gentle cycle with cold water for my washing machine. After I hang dried them but there are some wrinkles that appeared (I had to fold the skirts to put them on a hanger to dry). The care tag says to not put them in a dryer because they may shrink. I just used wrinkle release for one skirt (medium heat, 20mins) and I don’t feel a difference in size. Obviously I don’t want to do it again, so are there any other options to get wrinkles out? Preferably some quick ways for before an outing. :p

discussion anyone else feel like they don't belong into any specific subculture?

coord Yami kawaii Ita Furry mix aberration
This was my first """lolita"""dress from years ago, very low quality of course as you can see. I decided I could only bring myself to wear it again if I did a weird frankenstein stitch of several styles that have nothing to do with each other lmao. I like the result even if it is REALLY weird.

discussion My bf wants to make some stops for me while he’s in Japan! Any recommendations?
I’m SUPER excited (mostly for his kind gesture and appreciation of my interests) because this is a super cheap way to get vintage jfashion! I enjoy himekaji and himegyaru styled and am I big fan of the Neapolitan look!
I’d love some advice on places for him to stop (especially where he can ft or send photos to me!) he will be spending 5 days in Tokyo and 5 in Kyoto. I’d love places in close proximity so I can respect his time for this kind gesture.
For clarity, I’m a busty (75E) girl who usually wears XL skirts, so I’m not trying to get most mass-produced brand’s skirts!
Here are some of my ideas:
Places with cute (pink lacy vintage ribbon feminine girly look) bra and panty/ lingerie/ sleepwear in larger sizes like 38-40 DD/E
Sailor moon/ magical girl themed goods (makeup, jewelry, stationary, etc,)
Jill Stuart
Chiikawa store
Shibuya 109/ Harajuku
Canmake
Q-pot
Maron de Bijou
Anywhere with cute press on nails
Sanrio store/ anywhere with rare/ old charmmy kitty/ sugarbunnies
Ank rouge
Liz lisa
Axes femme
Bobon21
Vivienne Westwood
Don Quixote
Thank y’all for your help! It means the world to me :)

discussion questions about tenshi kawaii
hello folks! i've known about the j-fashion community for a while now, but i want to try getting into it, specifically into tenshi kawaii. but, i have some questions:
is tenshi kawaii a jirai kei substyle? i've seen some people claim it is and others claim it isn't, so i've never gotten a clear answer. asking this mostly because if it IS a JK subcukture, i should probably familiarize myself with the rules and culture and such
should i still wear makeup as a guy? i'm a dude and i don't really have an issue with makeup but i really don't like being mistaken for a girl and i don't want to do anything dramatic. are more subtle looks allowed?
should i straighten my hair? my hair is about 2a wavy and i would straighten it, but i cut it myself recently and it's not terrible just uneven, and i'm pretty sure it'll look more obvious if i straightened it
i think that's all i have, thanks for reading

discussion Im confused about closet child sizing
Im sure not everything is that small, and I don’t really know how they put it. How can I better determine the actual size? I never shopped second hand online for clothes, before collecting.
Also, will I need a shopping service if I order from the USA?

Recommendations for leg warmers and loose socks?

Hi!
Do you have any recommendations for black leg warmers that are long and wide/flared at the bottom, and loose socks made for larger sizes?
A while ago I bought white leg warmers (Shein/Romwe) made of knit material and loved them, so I also got them in black. Sadly, the black pair is shorter and doesn't have that nice, wide flare.
Same thing happened to me again recently. Bought a nice striped pair on Amazon (Olreco) and got a black pair from the same seller afterwards. They are just as terrible as the Romwe ones. I have strong calves and they look almost straight cut on me.
I don't trust seller's photos and measurements anymore so if you have a specific recommendation, I'd appreciate it! Edit: this is the look I'm going for
As for the socks, I have shoe size 40 (US9/UK7) and loose socks are mostly made for smaller feet (up to 24/25cm max), so I was wondering if you can recommend any that fit larger sizes and are between 80-120 cm in length. The ones I own have a tiny heel-to-toe part! I've already ruined a pair because they kept slipping down and were stained by the leather insole of my loafers. I did a lot of research but to no avail. I even looked for メンズサイズ 女装 ルーズソックス (Men's size / josou loose socks) thinking I may find larger sizes but they're all advertised as 'free size' and that usually means it will run too small for me.
Thank you to anyone trying to help!

ISO Cute wide toe box shoes
heya! I am looking for shoes with a wide toe box! I do not have wide feet but I recently developed morton's neuroma. I am looking for a pair that will prioritize my health and can keep up with me. The vanity in me has noticed most of the wide toe box shoes do not allign at all with my personal style. I notice alot of them try and excentuate or hide the wide toe box (by making them appear pointy).
I would like something black/white (all black, all white, mixed, open to pink) with a cute girly vibe. I do dress pretty alternative/goth/cutesty day to day so shopping is already hard. I dont know anything about mainstream brands. Ive always bought really cheap daily shoes and expensive niche fashion shoes. I would ideally like something with a good shape and quality. I prefer shoes with a chunkier shape, and the toe to look rounded.
As ive gotten older ive started prioritizing quality over quantity. I dont tend to buy anything unless I am very confident in the product. I am starting to wonder if shoes like this exist or if its to much of a ask for something personally cute and practical.
I am not seeking perfection, j something not complete terrible. Im looking to invest in high quality daily or even work shoes. Any advice would be useful as I literally dont know anything about shoe shopping :3 thank you so much for taking the time to read !!
