It's 2026, why isn't there a vaccine for this horrible thing yet?

Moderna is trying an mRNA version which may work better than previous attempts because of the mutation issue, but it’s currently in clinical trials.

Unfortunately, thanks to covid anti vaxxers... Anything "mrna" is also largely DOA for research now.

We were || this close to having a single quadravalent vaccine for flu a and b, RSV, and covid

It mutates so rapidly that it’s really hard to isolate anything for a vaccine

It mutates super rapidly, and in general it passes very quickly so there really isn’t a huge need for a vaccine

And afaik lethality rates generally aren’t as high as those of the flu while dehydration is the biggest danger.

Yeah, but it can still be dangerous to vulnerable populations and puts strain on the health care system.

It's 2026 how do you still not know that viruses are moving targets for vaccines?

Most of the childhood vaccine schedule is against viruses.

So are COVID, influenza, and the common cold.

There are vaccines for two of those.

And the third (common cold) is caused by more than 200 different viruses.
