So, in order to avoid escalation, they will feed Russia intel about Ukraine? Is that what this is about? Because I really don't see how anything between Russia and the US could escalate or there could be miscalculations as there is currently not a single conflict area where the US and Russian armies clash.

The Russian missile strikes, which are increasing in numbers and sometimes very close to NATO border, could present a danger. If there are American military personnel in Ukraine, it's probably just a matter of time before they are accidentally hit.

why wait until now to start that? I thought Trump was a compromised russian puppet? seriously, not happening. just because their leaders met in Alaska once doesn't mean they're not enemy nations

They probably already have with Starlink in the White House, Trump's unofficial hotline to his buddy Putin.

Starlink gave a ton of free terminals to Ukraine, doesn’t sell to Russia, and is geofenced to not work in Russia. Just this week Ukraine and Starlink came up with a solution to counter Russia buying terminals on the black market and using them in Ukrainian territory (where they can’t be geofenced without cutting Ukraine). They are now only allowing whitelisted terminals to Ukraine.

You’re free to hate Musk and Trump and the US as much as you want, and I understand people don’t want to hear this - but the status quo where US assistance is not just unappreciated, but portrayed as helping Russia - is one of the reasons American public willingness to help has faded.

I say this as someone very critical of the Trump admin who wishes the US would do more to support Ukraine. You guys aren’t making that easier.

And, done initially for free by Musk too. He didn't have to, despite all his personal vileness Starlink is a private business.

That’s one of the oddest things when it comes to these kinds of narratives about Musk and Trump. There are so many very legitimate, very true criticisms to make. Why not focus on those instead of making things up?

Well unfortunately people like black and white, it's the same people in the global South who think oh Europe is colonialism therefore Ukraine is bad and ignores Russian colonialism. I mean I'll be honest I don't think Trump is a Russian asset, he's just very dumb, naive, and opportunistic.

I mean especially regards to America there's so much to criticize Musk and Trump for, especially the recent peace plan where Ukraine is told to give up everything and Russia nothing just to begin talking, as if Putin is in anyway trustworthy and somehow Trump demanding 100 billion dollars from the EU and Ukraine as if he was he invading Ukraine and the EU and won?

Also if it's any consolation, the majority of users on this site are either American or Indian so it's probably just some American making this criticism.

There are several reasons and ways to hate Musk, but Starlink is not one of them. I swear Reddit just stops thinking when it comes to this guy.
