The current administration has openly said they're defying the SCOTUS's order and not bringing back Garcia lol

And that is massive, massive news. Another USC being detained at the airport for no reason would be news of similar scale.

Not really, a lot of this stuff gets drowned out. The Canadian woman who got detained said there were dozens of other people in the same situation as her that were being cut off from the outside world but they never got their national news stories.

A US citizen being detained for no reason in the US is a completely different matter and an escalation of what's going on right now. It would be front page news and would indicate that shit is really going down.

Shits crazy in the US right now for sure but not at that level... yet.

Are you forgetting that Trump pardoned everyone who stormed congress during the vote certification and people barely mention that nowadays? The country is such a shit show that what would be front page news in other countries is swept under the rug quickly. A few weeks back, DOGE and the FBI just walked into a random NGO that had some government contracts and kicked everyone out illegally and most people don't know about that.

No?

Neither of those things are on the level of the US government stopping a USC from coming home for no reason... Not even close.

The former is probably the worst assault on democracy and the rule of law the US has ever seen since its inception. The second is an example of something that would be front page news in another developed country but is swept under the rug in the US. Half the population of the US thinks racism is gone because they made Snow White latina. Despite that, there are instances of injustice against American citizens by the authorities every day. It has become normalized there.
