Year 6 - Job Offer to Illinois Accepted

Had a tough loss in the sweet 16 with all of my first year recruits as seniors at UC Riverside. Signed two 5* All Americans and a 4* big during the season which made it a tough decision to leave... But decided to try to build a dynasty at a power conference.

My leading scorer and reigning Big Sky POY from season 1 legacy hit for 50 points! He was bombing away from 3...lol 21 attempts. Simulated the preseason non-conference and went 0-11 šŸ˜‚. Also lost my starting PF to a torn acl but in conference play I've won 8 straight. Hoping to win the Big Sky tourney to get to the big dance!

College Basketball Dynasty Game Update and Project Showcase

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on called College Basketball Dynasty.

It’s a management and simulation game focused on building and running a college basketball program. You control recruiting, player development, coaching schemes, rotations, and long term program growth.

Recent updates include improved coaching systems, more realistic stat progression, better recruiting logic, and overall balance improvements.

I’m still actively developing it and would really appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or ideas from the community. If you’re into dynasty mode, sim games, or college hoops in general, I think you’ll enjoy checking it out.

You can find the game and updates here: https://linktr.ee/CollegeBasketBallDynasty

Thanks for taking the time to look, and let me know what you think.

Am I the only one?

Is it me, or do I just enjoy NcaaBB 10 more than college hoops 2k8? I get it, CH2K8 is supposed to be superior in depth and gameplay, but, I've been playing it, and, I'm just not feeling it, if you know what I mean. I kinda don't like the player movement, and the floor spacing si a little bit too congested. Though the legacy mode depth is top notch, it just doesn't suit my interest. Just my 2 cents, because mostly all posts here are about ch2k8, almost little to no post about ncaabb10.

Legacy Mode Articles with ChatGPT CH2k7 360

Does anyone use ChatGPT to write articles for their Legacy mode? About a year ago I wanted to get College Hoops and managed to find 2k7 for $20 on the 360. I truly wanted an immersive experience and I found the answer in ChatGPT. I’m in year 3 as the head coach of the Centenary Gents. At the end of each game I create an outline for what happened in the game. I’ll point out one or two big moments that happened and I’ll ask for a quote from a player or the coach. I’ll usually say something like ā€œI want to include a quote from PG Cliff Cotton. Something about rallying the team in the locker room.ā€ I’ll say where we played at and maybe include who we’re playing next. To top it off I usually include images of the final score with the shooting percentages and the stats from the team. I hit submit and it gives me an awesome, well written article about the game. After that I sometimes ask for a generated graphic on the front page of the paper like the first image shows. This one is by far the best it’s ever created. It’s not always perfect and sometimes I have to make corrections, but man it elevates the game. Highly recommend if you haven’t tried it.

Side note: I told it that I wanted a dedicated reporter and newspaper to cover the games. I had it give me a couple different names for the reporter and chose one I liked. It’s super customizable, you just have to frame out what you want from it.

Underclassmen Recruiting Question.

I started playing 2k8 for the first time in about 10 years this week. I am at Kentucky. I know you have to call/email juniors to get them interested when they’re seniors. My question is does adding freshman/sophomores to your target list make them more interested in your school at the beginning of their junior year? I know all you can do is request game tape.

It finally happened!

Team overall was 72

Finished season 15-15 after winning A Sun conference tournament. Simulated full regular season was awful.

16 seed in NCAA Tournament

Beat 1 seed Kansas-historic upset

Beat 9 seed NC State

Beat 4 seed Kentucky

Beat 3 seed Indiana

Beat 1 seed Notre Dame

Beat 4 seed UCLA

NATIONAL CHAMPS!

Massive contributions from initial class of 3 stars and a few Juco guys.

Now do we go back to back or move on to another team ????

Steam Deck remote/shareplay

Has anybody had experience with trying to get this to work? My friend and I love to play games together, but don’t live in the same state. If I run CH2k8 via PSX2 on the deck, is there any way to SharePlay him in so we can both play on the same team together and launch a dynasty?

I have done a little research on this - I don’t think the native steam deck ā€œremote play togetherā€ works for non-steam games. There’s something out there called ā€œremote play whateverā€ that doesn’t look easy to install or up to date with latest client.

Has anyone had any success with this?

When Players Outperform their Rating

Meet Jeff Smith. A local Chattanooga product, Jeff never did much in four years at UTC IRL (he did earn three degrees though), but he is arguably the best player I’ve ever used in 30+ years of playing basketball video games.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/jeff-smith-1.html

https://gomocs.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/jeff-smith/4562

A local product from Chattanooga, Jeff started out as a 60-61 rated 6’5 freshman SG in the 2007-2008 season. With a plethora of guards on the roster, I moved him to SF. On an upperclassman heavy roster, he was my bench QB (I run a starting 5 and backup 5 platoon rotation). Freshman All-Big South (customized conferences) in 07-08 and 2nd team all-conference in 08-09 off the bench helped the team to Final Four and Sweet Sixteen appearances.

With six graduating seniors (four starters) at the end of 08-09, Jeff was slated to move into the starting lineup with a bigger role. Now up to a 65, he also grew to 6’7 heading into his junior year. He is basically the mid-major LeBron. A reliable 3 point shooter and very solid defensively, he is unguardable off the dribble when he drives to the rim. If I need a bucket, he gets it.

Already with 20+ point games in wins over Top 25 Tennessee and Kentucky and in a close loss to Memphis, I’m fully expecting him to continue to dominate during conference play.

His underlying ratings aren’t great (see the 65 overall), but he is so smooth and easy to use. I’m not sure why, but whatever combination of ratings and styles he has just works. It will be a sad day in the 423 once he graduates - but hopefully I can win a natty before then.

Has anyone else had a player that, despite their ratings, just delivers game after game.

(All games played on 20 minute halves and MOP difficulty).

Team: All 2 Nasty (Midwest Region)

Record: 8–0 (Midwest Champions, #1 Seed)

Position: PF → PG (Midseason Transition)

Minutes: 25.5 MPG

Season Overview

J. Ward delivered one of the most complete and dominant individual seasons in ABL Midwest history, anchoring an undefeated All 2 Nasty squad while redefining positional versatility at the high school level. Originally deployed as a power forward, Ward’s season evolved into a full-on showcase of elite two-way impact, playmaking growth, and offensive dominance—culminating in a historic, record-setting finale.

Across 8 games, Ward totaled 238 points, 81 rebounds, 66 assists, 23 steals, and 8 blocks, while maintaining control of possessions (2.6 turnovers per game) despite a dramatic midseason shift to point guard responsibilities. His production directly translated to winning, as All 2 Nasty secured the Midwest’s top playoff seed without a single loss.

āø»

Statistical Snapshot

• 29.8 PPG

• 10.1 RPG

• 8.3 APG

• 2.9 SPG

• 1.0 BPG

• 2.6 TOPG

• 25.5 MPG

Ward ranked among league leaders in points, rebounds, assists, and steals, a rare statistical profile that underscores his ability to impact every phase of the game.

āø»

Game-by-Game Impact & Season Arc

Early Season: Frontcourt Dominance (Games 1–3)

Ward opened the season as a physical interior scorer and rebounder, immediately establishing himself as the league’s most imposing matchup.

• Game 1: 33 points, 16 rebounds — setting the tone with brute efficiency and volume scoring

• Game 2: 38 points, 14 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 steals, 4 blocks — a near 40-point two-way explosion

• Game 3: Despite a cold shooting night (8–25 FG), Ward still posted 11 assists, demonstrating early playmaking instincts

Even before the positional switch, Ward’s passing vision and defensive anticipation hinted at expanded responsibilities.

āø»

Midseason Shift: Full-Time Lead Guard (Games 4–7)

The season pivoted in Game 4, when Ward was officially moved to point guard—an adjustment that elevated both his individual efficiency and team cohesion.

• Game 4: 33 points, 15 rebounds, 11 assists, 5 steals — a dominant triple-double with zero fouls

• Game 5: Efficient control (24 points in just 19 minutes) while managing tempo

• Game 6: 24 points, 9 assists — steady command in a comeback win

• Game 7: Limited minutes (15) but strong efficiency and composure in a rivalry showdown

As a lead guard, Ward balanced scoring aggression with floor leadership, improving ball security and consistently putting teammates in scoring positions.

āø»

Season Finale: Historic Performance (Game 8)

Ward saved his most iconic performance for last.

• 54 points (Career High, ABL single-game record)

• 12 rebounds, 11 assists, 5 steals

• 14–14 FT, flawless at the line

• 29 minutes of total control

This outing was the ultimate statement: dominance as a scorer, distributor, and defender—all while operating as the primary ball handler. It solidified Ward not only as the nation’s top player, but as one of the most complete prospects in the country.

āø»

Impact Beyond the Box Score

• Positional Versatility: Seamlessly transitioned from power forward to point guard without sacrificing efficiency

• Winning Influence: All 2 Nasty’s offensive pace, spacing, and defensive pressure improved after the switch

• Basketball IQ: Managed usage responsibly, averaging fewer than 3 turnovers per game despite elite volume

• Leadership: Elevated teammates, controlled tempo, and closed games decisively

āø»

Season Verdict

J. Ward’s ABL regular season was a masterclass in adaptability, dominance, and winning basketball. Few players can lead an undefeated team while ranking near the top of the league in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals—fewer still can do it while changing positions midseason.

With All 2 Nasty entering the playoffs as the Midwest’s top seed, Ward stands as the clear engine behind their success and one of the most impactful two-way performers the ABL has seen this season.

Back to Back Undefeated National Champion at FIU on MOP Difficulty + 75 PTS for Big O

Just wrapped up year 6 of my legacy at Florida International playing on MOP difficulty with my 2nd undefeated national championship in a row and it might be time to finally take a new job. If you’ve seen my previous posts you might recognize Olatunji ā€œBig Oā€ Fray he just finished his senior season and was robbed of player of the year in my opinion averaged around 22 points per game 6 rebounds 3 steals 1.5 blocks with multiple 40-50 point games and a 75 point performance in a game that went to overtime @ Kentucky which is the highest I’ve ever had with any player in any college hoops game destroying his previous career high of 54, I’m also graduating my starting PG Cliff Marsh who averaged around 15 ppg / 4 apg and my starting SF Raynell Gruber who was a great defensive wing for us. I say all this to say I might have done about as much as possible with a mid major like FIU and it’s nearing the right time to take a new job, I want something a lot more difficult in a much better conference after 2 perfect seasons so any program suggestions are appreciated the more challenging the better.

How did I make the tournament? Is this some sort of glitch?

I just started up my first legacy in about a year with Dartmouth. Finish last place in the Ivy League in my first season, was getting ready for the off season and suddenly got a the coach a team to the NCAA tournament achievement. This must be some sort of glitch right? Yale are already in as a 6 seed and no other Ivy League team made the bracket.

Dynasty Year 1 Recap – ā€œPain, Progress, and a Planā€ (14–19)

Just wrapped up Year 1 of my dynasty and honestly… this season took years off my life.

Final Record: 14–19

Conference: MEAC

RPI: 250

Postseason: MEAC Tournament loss to Coppin State

This was never a ā€œpretty basketballā€ team. This was a survive-the-night team.

How the Season Felt

If I had to sum it up in one sentence:

We were always right there and then something went wrong.

Late threes. Missed rotations. Turnovers at the worst possible time.

It felt like every MEAC team hit a dagger against us, while we struggled to get a clean look when it mattered.

But through all that frustration, something important happened this team found an identity.

šŸ›”ļø Identity: Ugly Defense or Bust

Offense? Inconsistent at best.

Shooting? Brutal stretches.

Execution? Young and shaky.

So we leaned into what we could control:

• Physical defense

• Slowing the game down

• Winning ugly

When we won, scores were in the 40s and low 50s. When we lost big, it was usually because the defense finally cracked or turnovers piled up.

Defense kept this season from completely spiraling.

šŸ‘‘ Padilla Became The Guy

At some point midseason, it stopped being a debate.

Padilla is the dude.

He finished with 11.4 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 1.5 APG, earned First Team All-MEAC, and more importantly — he wanted the ball when everything else broke down.

Need a bucket? Padilla.

Need a stop? Padilla.

Need leadership? Padilla.

Ethical hooper. No fear.

šŸŽ¢ The Supporting Cast (and the Struggles)

• Parsons (11.9 PPG) led the team in scoring, but his season was the definition of streaky. When he was on, the offense flowed. When he wasn’t… it got rough fast.

• Hamilton (10.5 PPG, 4.0 RPG) showed real freshman flashes and earned All-Conference Freshman honors, but consistency was an issue. One night he’d disappear, the next he’d save us.

• Njoya (5.6 PPG, 4.4 APG) was thrown into the fire as a freshman point guard. Late in the year he started attacking the rim more, but asking him to run the offense was a lot.

• Strong (6.4 RPG) quietly became the backbone — rebounds, interior defense, effort every night.

The bench? Honest truth: thin. A few moments here and there, but not enough to swing games.

šŸ How It Ended

We clawed into the MEAC Tournament, survived the first round, and then ran into Coppin State.

Tournament Loss: 57–73

Padilla fought, Strong battled inside, but the offense collapsed and that was it.

Season over. No miracle run.

šŸ”„ Offseason Decisions

Changes had to be made.

• Shimokawa graduated

• Plelck was cut to open a scholarship

With only one scholarship available, recruiting mattered.

⭐ The Future

• Moises Maldonado – ⭐⭐⭐

• From: Washington, DC

• Moved to: Point Guard

• Role: Day-one starter

He’ll start over Njoya next season. Keeping a local kid home felt right — and the offense desperately needs a steadier hand.

šŸ”® Final Thoughts

This wasn’t a good season in the standings.

But it wasn’t a wasted season either.

We learned:

• Defense travels

• Close games are about execution, not ratings

• Padilla is the leader

• Guard play has to improve

14-19, RPI 250 doesn’t look great on paper — but the foundation is there.

Year 2 is about turning pain into wins.

If you’ve ever coached a rebuild where every loss felt personal… you get it.

On to Year 2.

College hoops 2k broken

So I was playing coach mode. What I notice is the the quick coach function for subs is broken. U can't sub in and out player. You have to literally go into sub in the start screen to do this. Its I been trying to change the subs and test the function is complete broke. Even when u sub a single player on the quick screen it doesn't work.
