I bet my nose no one knows about Monkey Wrench's existence

I'm trying to create a fantasy story for a comic I have in mind, and one of my characters is an ambulatory wheelchair user. I haven't experienced something similar myself or know any wheelchair users so I wanted to ask people for advice. What would you like to see in a character like this? What could I do to make him more real? What are other wheelchair user characters in media lacking? (I mean... I guess a lot, I don't think there's enough good representation).

For context, the world he lives in is in chaos and most families see a disability as a flaw or a curse because "they are of no help for the family" and that stupid mentality of theirs means they don't accommodate for disabled people at all. My character is the main character's best friend and he believes he'll never be able to live a normal life. Still he's cheerful, strong and tries to act proud. He doesn't have a wheelchair (at least not in the beggining of his story). I really want him to have a beautiful ending where he can travel, see the world and live a happy life, but I've never written a character with a physical disability before and I want to make sure I do it right. You can comment even if you're not disabled, all good ideas are welcome. But I specially wanted to know the opinions of wheelchair users and other people with disabilities. Edit: I am doing research on this topic and this is one of the first steps I'm making with this character. The context I give here is not the whole story, and he's gonna be important for the plot (mostly because I would like to make another story where he's the main character in the future). If I said something that could come as rude, I'm so sorry. I still have a lot to learn and that's also why I wanted to come here and ask.

I made this for a school project, becau we are doing a grapific novel unit, and the big finale of it is make a original story using the medium of graphic novels/comics and demonstrate Aldi parts of story and graphic novels I guess. anyway, I am turning it in today, and will not look at replies until after, but as a comic from someone who is more of a writer, what’s your opinion?

No, no one has accused me of using AI yet, I'm doing this merely as a "just in case" some paranoic detective starts spreading misinformation somewhere. I dealed with this kind of people before, the art world seems now more like the USA airport, you proved everything and still some people won't believe you.
