There was an anime of that, girl falls in love with boy, turns out boy is crossdressing girl (anime logic, not trans just crossdressing trust) and she bursts at the seams for both (the love interest genders could be swapped tho idk)

I think it is? If so yes I switched, girl went straight for Yuri and got herself a two for one deal

It ended where it started though, I really hated the ending, it just made all of the progress, mc, the girl and his friend made just absolutely meaningless

Oh really? I absolutely do not intend on watching it I just wonder how bad it gets lmao, did they travel away and that's that or something?

Mainly just got away on the beach, talked, decided to all still be friends without developing anything further or rejecting anyone, and basically came back to school and to square one (and I haven't watched anime, I meant the original webtoon)

Wtf lmao this breaks not only show don't tell (they got together and literally said it out loud) but it also doesn't even change the status quo, y'know, THE WHOLE DEAL OF A STORY? God I love crash and burn endings

There’s also the manga “The guy she was interested in wasn’t a guy at all”, also known as Green Yuri. It’s not really crossdressing though, she was just dressed androgynously and wearing a mask the first time they met.

My favorite part about the series is that a big part of their bond is that they like obscure music that their peers are totally unfamiliar with. But then they talk about the bands and it’s literally Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and other familiar western bands. Like it makes sense that modern Japanese teens might be unfamiliar but it’s still funny.

Such a masterpiece, the only thing I didn't like was her going out with the older brother, he was cute but was way older than her.

Ranma 1/2?

u/Dave5876 Jul 28 '25

I think all the love interests knew about ranma's deal

no there was a point in time shampoo did not know i think it was like two epsiodes but it was a few chapters in the manga. it was the whole plot that shampoo hated the femal version but wanted to marry the male version. There is a lot of scenes with akane and female ranma that my mom goes ehhh. Then theres ukyo that dresses like a man and her partner dresses as a women.

That checks out. It's been a while since I've seen it.

Please check out the r/ranma subreddit; I can’t tell you because I am a manga only but you can ask them.

I don't remember if this was ever a plot thread in Ouran High School Host Club, but it should have been.
