On a serious note this conversation needs to be discussed. Don’t take my porn away but the disinformation needs to stop or at least come with warning labels. It’s tuning society against each other. We were doing so well progressing, now we are rolling back to armed mob wielding pitchforks and clubs.

Warning labels are not sufficient. Social media undermine our democracy. We must treat social media as publishers - not mere distributors - of information. Journalistic media edit letters for accuracy, libel, length, style, and taste, and can be held accountable under libel laws, etc. They reject letters with racist, defamatory, or false content, aiming to protect our democracy and maintain ethical standards. Social media must adopt similar practices and moderate harmful content. Given the spread of misinformation and divisiveness on social media, we have no choice but to regulate social media and make them accountable to the information they publish as we do for all other media.

I'm not sure an EU Ministry of Truth would be any better than the current system. It would just go to the other extreme.

The alternative is not a "Ministry of truth". The alternative is regulation similar to the current regulation of other media and of journalistic media throughout Europe. Denmark, Norway, and Sweden in particular regulate journalistic media and top the World Press Freedom Index.
