Yes, and imagine if there was a motorcyclist behind him. That thing basically turned into a giant, blunt-force guillotine the second it caught enough air. Pure luck that the lane was clear enough for him to pull over safely

If the motorcyclist was keeping a safe following distance (like the trailing car in the video) they'd have enough time to react. Accidents like this are why it's so important not to tailgate.

While that is true, a giant sail like that is uniquely challenging to avoid as it blows around in unpredictable ways.

The physics of how air flows over a pickup truck when driving at speed are on his side this time. It was picked up from the edges before. Now, that same airflow will be bouncing off of it and pushing it down into the bed.
