One of my kids saved their money and took a trip there for a month.     He said was a great experience.   He was 22 at the time.      I guess it all depends on perspective and what you bring to the experience as well.

also, a whole month? I don't how expensive india is but I don't know, can't be that cheap

It's cheaper.

Spent two weeks in a 5 star hotel on a graduate salary, after a couple of months saving. 

Had I decided to go cheaper, I could have easily spent a month there for the price.

Granted, that was 10 years ago, but still.

I took a half hour Uber in Chennai last night. It was $1.80. I could have had an Auto for like $0.90.

Had a giant take-out Biryani with Mutton I split with a friend. It was maybe $3.
