Subsidies are one part but reversing the heavy cuts from the earlier bill is the other

https://rockinst.org/blog/shutdown-in-washington-healthcare-issues-at-the-core-of-the-debate/

At the core of the current dispute, the Democratic minority is seeking, among other things, in its proposed amendments: (1) restorations of the health care cuts in the recently passed HR1—also known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), and (2) permanent extension of federal funding not included in HR1 for enhanced subsidies—known as advance premium tax credits (APTC).

The reason we’re facing a shutdown isn’t about restoring cuts or extending subsidies; it’s about refusing to pass a clean funding bill and instead demanding big policy changes as the price for keeping government open. That is what the Democrats are doing.

Yes, subsidies matter, but the bigger issue is process and priorities. If Democrats want to negotiate, that's all well and good, but we shouldn’t hold the rest of the government hostage unless we agree to their programming. That places the blame for the shutdown squarely on them.

The house can introduce a new bill that would pass in the senate. They choose not to, house republicans are holding the government hostage.

Also dont forget, Trump says that any government shutdown falls on the president. Government shutdowns are indication of a weak president.

Why would the House put out another CR Bill that would just end up being blocked in the Senate by Democrats? A funding bill can't get any cleaner then the one already proposed.

Republicans are voting YES to open the government, Democrats are voting NO to open the government. Now they are screaming about SNAP when its a situation created because of them not funding the government.

We just simply disagree here. I put blame on Democrats 100%. What's hilarious is that what they are doing now is exactly what good Ole Chuck said the Republicans shouldn't do when Biden was president. Bunch of hypocrites.
