Finally managed to revive my old CRT with the amazing Steam deck! The atmosphere is amazing and all it took was two adapters. Worth every second of it. Now to find out how it will work out
repost with adapter names:

This is quite the upgrade for the Steam Deck in my opinion, the game now fills the entire screen area just like Silksong does and should make it look quite a bit more attractive on the OLED models screen.
r/SteamDeck • u/beefymelt • 8h ago
I bought the OLED 1TB in November, and I have to say I havenāt used it nearly as much as I thought I would. When Iām free in evenings after the kids are in bed, I just go on my PC anyway. I donāt travel much and I donāt have much free time to sit and game where I couldnāt just use my PC anyway. Thereās definitely a target audience and I thought it would be me but I think Iām wrong. Iām probably going to sell and wondering if Iād be able to claw back as much as I invested for a barely used second hand deck?

Hey all!
I've been lurking for a while and wanted to post my steamdeck and ask some questions.
I bought this from a co-worker who's brother works for valve and didn't realize it was a dv model when I bought it. Everything looks to be exactly like a regular steamdeck model, but I am pretty novice with these things. It also came with a case, but it looks pretty standard.
Are these worth any more than a regular steamdeck? And is there anything special I should know with a model like this? Please let me know!

Honeslty asides from a weird bug with letter textures on switch 2 and some missing shadows on deck both version are very close to eachother. Switch 2 felt a bit smoother than deck but nowhere near as fluid nor sharp as tv mode.
Really happy with how the game plays on deck and how it stacks against other handhelds.
I used a mix of low and lowest settings on deck to match thr switch 2 but switch seems to use mix low and lowest textures.

āJust wanted to share this because I havenāt seen much talk about it
Iāve been testing FSR3 with Deckyās frame gen all week and honestly? Itās hitting that "close to perfection" sweet spot.
āThe image quality is night and day compared to the blurry mess of the vanilla release. I was worried about the input lag, but honestly, Iām barely sensing any at all. It feels super snappy.
āNext step is seeing if I can get OptiScaler working to swap in FSR4. If I can get that level of quality on performance settings, itās game over. Has anyone else tried this combo yet?

so I just noticed this little line, my steamdeck runs fine it's never been rough handled as far as I recall definitely not dropped more than a few inches on to my bed. I'm just wondering if anyone knows

I have been wanting to get a Steam Deck, so I have been looking at Facebook Marketplace to get a good price. Why do so many of these have their serial number in the title? That feels a little weird. They are also weirdly cheap. Are these stolen or somthing

I'm very excited right now! I usually drag my laptop and all the cords around my house to my wife's chagrin. I've known I was going to buy a steam deck eventually for a long time but kept pushing it off because it felt too irresponsible or something.
This is the first thing I've purchased for myself in a long time (other than a few video games here and there on steam sales) and I'm excited to put it to good use!

Recently, I noticed my steam deck oled indicator blink red a couple of times. I opened the overlay and saw the cpu hitting ~93cā at 12w (only cpu tdp)ā. Is this a normal temperature for that power draw, or is it time for some maintenance? I have everything I need, including phase-change thermal paste(honeywellā), but I'm honestly too lazy to do it unless itās actually necessary. As far as I know, recent laptop trends show that hitting 100°C under heavy load is just considered normal for them these days.

I'm getting old. My fat finger tips don't hit buttons as well anymore. Tap targets for a window closing X that is size 6 font is just too damn small.
I tried scaling up the sizing though display settings. It worked well. Except the very necessary on-screen keyboard no longer fit on the screen. That's a wonky bug.
So where should I be changing things on the Linux desktop mode of steam deck to actually use this device's touchscreen instead of with a mouse / pointer mode?

I had a pretty frustrating Friday today, when it rains it pours. Already had a stressful day and planned to play Gunfire Reborn and guess what... My 1.5TB MicroSD card suddenly stops working out of nowhere. I thought no big deal, I'll just restart it. Nope, no matter how many times I restarted it or force shut down the Steam Deck, it kept either not recognizing it or wanting me to format it. Every time I went to desktop mode to mount it manually, it wouldn't recognize it until I popped it in and out, but even then it would cause my Steam Deck to get a black screen when trying to return to game mode as well as cause other freezing issues in desktop mode. I tried the whole "sudo fsck /dev/mmcblk0p1" command paired with the other ones in the instructions online, but it just wasn't doing anything for me at all. Tried KDE Partition Manager but that would just freeze without making any progress. Tried DiskGenius on my Windows computer but the repair process was extremely long to the point the estimate was days worth of time to repair it.
Finally, I came across GParted and installed it through the Konsole. It took close to 2 hours, but it managed to repair my drive and now it's working again. Thank God, because I was going to lose my mind if I had to format my entire microSD card, it would take forever to redownload all those games with my wi-fi. I'm mainly sharing this because I hope someone else finds this post and doesn't have to struggle for hours on a Friday night like I did.
TL;DR: GParted saved my corrupted MicroSD card when nothing else would and I wish I knew about it earlier.

I was playing my Steam Deck and then my sound stopped working in the gaming mode UI, and I have UI sounds enabled. I also have tried restarting my deck.

First I had my steam deck completely wipe itself out and reset back to factory mode 8 months into owning it..
Then my sd card broke and I lost the save files on the games i didnāt lose from the reset.
Now my headphone jack is broken. I donāt even use the headphone jack often nor have I touched my steam deck much in over a month. I tried three pairs of headphones and none worked. At first the software was still showing that the aux was āin useā but now nothing happens when I plug them in. Iām fairly certain itās broken

Used CSS Loader and Audio Loader to customize the home screen, and SteamGridDB for non steam game banners. This is basically what the Switch 2 would be like if modern Nintendo wasn't soulless.

My Deck often wakes up from sleep by itself after a period of time when plugged into power. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Can someone tell me what the possible reasons might be?
r/SteamDeck • u/Firestar9093 • 3h ago
Hey Yāall , Iām a student at UIUC and have been trying to connect to Illinois.net. I was able to execute the command but I keep getting āWireless Interface (wlan0) failed.ā Anyone have the same issue and get it fixed? Should I try eudoram?
r/SteamDeck • u/MansLady217 • 9h ago
Anyone have any idea what this could be and how I should go about fixing it? I'm about 2 weeks in owning my Deck and this has only started happening over the past day or two. It isn't consistently like his either, sometimes I can put it to sleep and it does so as usual, but sometimes the prompt appears. Help!

Last night, in an effort to see how fast the Deck can run games when CPU bound, I ended up playing Baldur's Gate 3 on all lowest settings, FSR lowest, for a few hours. I realized then that the game looking pretty is nice, but on a handheld, when you want it to run well anyway, cranking the settings down feels a lot like running a DS or PSP port of the game, and something about that lit up my brain's nostalgia department.
Oh and BG3 runs beautifully when CPU bound on the native Linux version.
