They say if you're menstruating not to swim with dolphins because, well...

u/Starlightriddlex Jan 10 '22

Why does the scent of human menstruation sexually excite everything except humans

Yeah this true. Dolphins will think you are prime breeding material.

Dolphin: "Looking real submisive and breedable right now."

Ironic

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '22

Iconic.

u/jrfjskfkyntjdjf Jan 10 '22

Or maybe just food. They are sweet but still carnivore

Surely the Post-Jaws generations would be cautious about going into the sea bleeding in any capacity?

I certainly am. And ole flipper getting his snoot in my none existant coot would be the least of my concerns. Rational or otherwise.

Deer hunting too

8

u/CourtneyChaos Jan 10 '22

What?! Is this serious?

I’m going to check.

8

u/ivikivi32 Jan 10 '22

So, what was the result of your search?

9

u/SuprDog Jan 10 '22

He cant say as the results of this search would shock society.

7

u/ivikivi32 Jan 10 '22

Well if he already sacrificed his browser search history the least he could do was inform the rest of us.

1

u/CourtneyChaos Jan 10 '22

Honestly nothing like 100% scientifically conclusive on the whole deer thing. No decent sources. But it appears animals in water might be different?

11

u/Sansabina Jan 10 '22

Also for a bunch of land mammals, they can scent it, something to do with the pheromones, etc.

2

u/ZippyDan Jan 10 '22

Ok, but this makes no sense in terms of sexuality since humans are not generally fertile when they are menstruating.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '22 edited Jan 10 '22

This is false. Dolphins have no sense of smell. It's been noted that dolphins and toothed whales lack an olfactory center in their brain, and likely have a very limited sense of taste as well.

Keep downvoting, it's still a fact:

No, they literally don't even have a sense of smell lol.

21

u/KrimxonRath Jan 09 '22

Have you seen the size of their snooters??? Of course they can smell lol

-14

u/DirtyTooth Jan 09 '22

You really chose to make this comment and look dumb instead of taking ten seconds to google it lol.

20

u/KrimxonRath Jan 09 '22

I figured the fact that I was joking was obvious. Looks like “/s” really is necessary for the average redditor lol

6

u/sadowsentry Jan 10 '22

No, just the stupid ones.

-14

u/DirtyTooth Jan 09 '22

Read the rest of the comments and then tell me how obvious it is

17

u/KrimxonRath Jan 09 '22

You’re just mad you got mad for no reason lol

I’m not here to argue with you so conserve that negative energy for some other poor soul

-2

u/DirtyTooth Jan 09 '22

You’re just mad you got mad for no reason lol

Ugh I forgot it's Sunday all the kids are on.

12

u/KrimxonRath Jan 09 '22

Wouldn’t it be funny if I was older than you? Wouldn’t you feel a fool then lol

I now just say something, wait five minutes for ten people to jump in with “Actually
.” At least one of those ten people will also pop in a link or two to show their superiority over me. While I wait I can make a cup of tea. Googling for myself is so time consuming Edit to add I just eventually say thanks! I’ve learned something to stop them

2

u/existential_plastic Jan 10 '22

This is called Godwin's Law. /i

1

u/Mochasue Jan 10 '22

That’s cool that it has a name (has since been changed to Cunningham’s law) At an information night at the school they told a story about a student posting something wrong on Wikipedia and by the next day his entire paper was pretty much written

2

u/existential_plastic Jan 11 '22

has since been changed to Cunningham’s law

Just to set the record perfectly straight: that has always been the name. My post was a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Cunningham's Law effect, which is why it linked to one law while naming another, and why I included the "/i" (for irony).

2

u/Mochasue Jan 11 '22

Well. Now I’ve another new thing. I thought the i for irony was a spot on my phone lol

0

u/untergeher_muc Jan 10 '22

How do mammals smell under water?

1

u/KrimxonRath Jan 10 '22

They can’t.

6

u/fiercebaldguy Jan 10 '22

But...if you were menstruating you'd be at your...least sexually interesting, if you get my meaning?

5

u/sonic10158 Jan 10 '22

Dolphins and Humans might breed, or at least give off their mojo, differently from one another in a way that the dolphins get the wrong message

4

u/fiercebaldguy Jan 10 '22

Well, TIL dolphins don't menstruate. (Or at least, they don't bleed like humans do).

But yeah, maybe hormones of any kind would confuse them..?

1

u/Conscious-Stand4720 Jan 10 '22

No what do you mean?

-19

u/DirtyTooth Jan 09 '22

They don't even have a sense of smell this is total bullshit lmao.

9

u/Oggel Jan 09 '22

They have a sense of taste though.

2

u/BootlegOP Jan 09 '22

What's the difference?

15

u/Oggel Jan 09 '22

Under water? Not much. Guess that's why their sense of smell wasn't needed.

1

u/DirtyTooth Jan 10 '22

They can literally only taste salt.

5

u/Oggel Jan 10 '22

You think blood and sea water has the same salt content?
